Thread: Jedi is too easy and too quick.

I think it is possible to become jedi far too quickly now, and even easier now that they new Eisley quests, which are only supposed to give noobs a chance to experience different proffessions, count as content badges!

I got glowie by mistake - I hadn't done the Imp themepark and was refusing to do it as it was the only thing I needed to get glowie and I didn't want it yet. But then I did a /check and I was glowie without it! And I hadn't done any of the new Eisley quests either so I still can't explain it. I am now doing the force quests but I'm not going to grind out my force xp, I'm just getting on with enjoying as much of the game as I can and letting my xp build naturally, and hopefully it will take take months!!!!

I think a character should have to be at least a year old before they get glowie. I like the fact that you can only unlock 1 force sensitive branch every 3 weeks but why not expand that to include the full jedi skills so that you can only fill one skill box every 2 weeks or something like that. Currently a power gamer can get glowie in less than a week, Padawan in 18 weeks and fully templated in another 2 weeks. This means that we have hundreds of jedi running around, most of which don't know how to use their template as they got it too quickly, never mind the fact that most of them don't know how to play the game as they have gone straight into becoming a jedi (Mind they are excellent at joining hunting groups on Dant and riding their Barc speeders backwards and forwards to the Village). This also puts the more casual gamers (the ones that have a life outside of SWG and can't play 24/7) off as they see uber 8 year olds running around with lightsabers!

IMO the hole jedi process from start to finish should take at least a year and a half for uber gamers and casual players alike. And it should force players to experience the rest of the game at the same time. At least the old hologrind method forced players to experience different professions, even if it was just to grind out one prof 'til master and then drop it and start a new one.

I get what your saying and even tho im not jedi yet i to some extent agree with you but what you want is ridiculous soe will never make it take a year and half to get jedi because theres no money to be made for them that way and personally i htiknk that 18 weeks is good enough but if it was 30 or so id still try but 18 weeks is along time.

If they made it take a year and a half no one would be patient enough and theyd lose a massive market for the game as many people buy the game to become jedi making it take that long people wouyld not bother they jsut quit and find another game.

I agree it is to easy it shouldnt be a matter of time before gettin jedi it should be a matter of is the player dedicated enough to get it

I felt the same way as you did when i came back to SWG after a long absence to find nothing but jedi running around in the open waving their lightsabers around for all to see. I thought they were forced into exile or killer after episode three but what the heck, right? Unfortunately you are one of many people who are just wasting their breath. Everyone wants this game to be something different and for every person who wants to see no jedi there is a person who wants to see nothing but jedi. You should just start you jedi character now because in a few months this game is going to be pure KOTOR online and its getting to the point where if you are not a jedi you wont be able to particpate in the GCW or many of the higher end quests and loots. I have embraced the jedi onslaught now and i will be happy to see tons of jedi once i actually am one myself. Go figure.

This game was more popular and had more subscribers before it was so easy to become a jedi. They have actually lost subscribers due to older players leaving the game in disgust at the amount of jedi running around. Yes becoming a jedi is what attracts a lot of people to the game but there are more people that are attracted to the game simply because it is star wars. And those that play simply to become jedi can do that in about 20 weeks now but what do they do then? They've achieved the one reason they played in the first place so they move on to another game - more lost subscriptions.

My idea of it taking 1 and half years might sound ridiculous but it would reduce the jedi population (Eventually as those that are already jedi would still be there, although permadeath could be brought back) attracting more players that simply want to play in the star wars universe without feeling as though the have to become jedi simply to compete. Those that were adamant about becoming a jedi would stick with it for however long it takes, which guarantees more subscription fees for SOE, and once they become a jedi it will be something they can really feel as though they have achieved, instead feeling as though they ahve just collected a few tokens off the back of a cereal box.

Jedi too easy and too quick, maybe so. But SOE needs this to avoid law suits for false advertising.

My MBH alt. character will be dedicated to thining out that population

Motivationboy that was the smartest post i've seen in awhile.. I hope the up coming pub's address the problems of elitles vs Jedi in GCW but that could be wishful thinking.

I must warn you, I'm very good at back flips.

I agree completely that it is too easy.I started back during the holos and due to my own pace it took me about a year and a half to get to Paddy. Not trying to compare yesteryear to now, but even without comparison Jedi is way too easy to get. Most MMORPGs have "end game"s, but this is just way too easy. I could start a new account tomorrow and be Jedi by Halloween if I was ambitious enough. Like someone else said, prepare for this to turn into KOTOR online.....with crafters and dancers here and there hehe.

I agree too. It took my friend 16 weeks of intense grinding in solo groups killing thousands of Huurtons to grind enough XP for his 6 trees, and even more to get his complete Jedi template. And i'm talking 16 weeks of grinding 5 hours a day, and 20 hours during weekends. That is what got me discouraged from going Jedi. I unlocked my trees, converted the XP slowly but after 4 months, i had a single tree completed.

With double-XP, it took me about 30 hours over 4 days to get enough XP for 6 more trees (yes, i stacked a 7th tree's worth of XP just because i was also getting healing XP for keeping the group alive, so I converted enough Senses XP while grinding combat XP to be able to unlick a 7th tree.

I'm glad i'm finished, but it was way too easy.
