Thread: Jedi is too easy and too quick.

Well Jedi don't want to be killed as a paddy...when you're 2mill xp in the whole, it's not fun. Once you're fully templated, it's not as bad as it was when you were a paddy, but when you want to change your temp...forget about it. I'm about a week of grinding before I get initiate on one of my characters...was it too easy? Not really. It's all about the time you spend in it. However, I'm going to play my jedi the way I believe Jedi should be played. I'll be in hiding...I'll wear a cloak in town, won't gank in cities, won't wave my glow stick around in public, etc. Player cities I probably won't, but don't expect to spot me in Coronet with a lit up saber. Unless of course I get enough vis to jump on the terms, in which case...defend or die.

Over a year on my scylla character and still not quite unlocked. For people who play 24/7, it might be too fast. Those people should try doing something other than playing swg 24/7 and also try doing other things within swg than grinding and they might be notso let down when they get jedi and feel like they have nothing else to do.

think a character should have to be at least a year old before they get glowie. I like the fact that you can only unlock 1 force sensitive branch every 3 weeks but why not expand that to include the full jedi skills so that you can only fill one skill box every 2 weeks or something like that. Currently a power gamer can get glowie in less than a week, Padawan in 18 weeks and fully templated in another 2 weeks. This means that we have hundreds of jedi running around, most of which don't know how to use their template as they got it too quickly, never mind the fact that most of them don't know how to play the game as they have gone straight into becoming a jedi (Mind they are excellent at joining hunting groups on Dant and riding their Barc speeders backwards and forwards to the Village). This also puts the more casual gamers (the ones that have a life outside of SWG and can't play 24/7) off as they see uber 8 year olds running around with lightsabers!

IMO the hole jedi process from start to finish should take at least a year and a half for uber gamers and casual players alike. And it should force players to experience the rest of the game at the same time. At least the old hologrind method forced players to experience different professions, even if it was just to grind out one prof 'til master and then drop it and start a new one.

FIRST of all, I think the grind to FS is already long enough, and I believe that is the longest grind to another level in video game history. Not all of us are power gamers, and I'm praying 24/7 for another double xp week. SOE will probably lose several casual players if they extend this already long grinding period

SECOND, I'm not going to waste a year and a half just to get jedi...that would just kill this game. Those who are jedis will become uber, and those who are somewhere in between are going to be...wasted. I don't want to know that I wasted an entire year of SWG to just go nowhere (I'm a pretty casual player)

remember that u can unlock in 18 weeks only if you want to take whats available in each phase, and you will have a really weak template.but if you need 2 phase 4 unlocks then you have added 12 weeks just to unlock. maybe more if you want mulitple unlocks from similar phases

its taken me a full year to unlock and grind jedi, under the old system of professions i could have done that in 2 weeks maybe 3 using double xp to master a profession every day

this way is better than the last, it isnt perfect but at least theres a timeframe that many noobs dont like so will never make it.

yes anyone can get glowie in just a few days, that means sweek feck all really, it will still take you a good 6-8 months of dedicated grinding to get the final template your after, any one who takes the 18 week route of any unlock will do is just bh fodder.

Reading this stuff makes my head hurt. It takes long enough for a powergamer to get a full template jedi let alone a casual gamer. If you don't like all the jedi, which I might add is a basic essential for a STAR WARS game to most people, go make your own Star Wars MMO that it takes 1.5 years to unlock jedi. See how many customers you have then.

Let me give you a real life example as to training and the time it takes for a real life profession.

Law Enforcement Officers typically spend 16 to 20 weeks in a "police academy." After which, most go through another 3 months of on the job training.

So, the initial trials of at least 16 weeks give a player the basic skills to proceed with their new profession, just as it does for law endforcement.

I agree with the orginal poster. Zero to glowing in 4 days...I'm just waiting on the ol man atm. I registered on this forum a few days after I bought the game. Look at my registration date. I'm not even sure what 1/4th of the crap I'm doing means. I'm still trying to figure out my profession's skills. I made 20-80 in 4 days during double xp and then set out to get glowy and that took me another 4 days. I'm a person who like to play alot though. I'm glad that the villiage phases takes a little longer then just grinding xp on dant. Honestly, I feel like progress in this game is insanely easy as it is. Jedi should be for those people who've seen and done everything else and now need something new and different to learn. I just wish there we more content based speed bumps to the game. The badges were a good idea, but it's still way to easy. They should have tripled the ones needed. No timers though. If it took 1 year to make jedi it'd in effect become a vets reward and not something earned. Long...LONG quests are much better then random professions or timers.

The devs have made their decision. Its going to become easier and easier to become a Jedi until if becomes a starter profession. As a matter of fact i expect the devs to give out FS slots for this christmas or offer special Jedi slots with come expansion box in the stores for more $$$$.

agree it is to easy it shouldnt be a matter of time before gettin jedi it should be a matter of is the player dedicated enough to get it

dedicated?! what do you know about dedicated?! spend 6 million on grenades and grind on the same creature over and over for 4-5 hours each day to get ONE box...do this for 2-3 MONTHS (some people did it even longer than that) and then talk to me about dedication...double xp is not dedication

ugh and you know what?! when nobody knew how to get jedi this game was full, you couldnt walk through Bestine without pulling 1 fps nevermind coronet, hell even mos freakin entha was full to capacity of people having fun and trying to discover their path.

there used to be over a million subscribers to this game, it was THE MMORPG to play no matter what the reviewers say, now im lucky if i have 2 friends online...out of 150 on my friends list.

it isn't the CU's fault, its that there is nothing hard to try and get, when i started playing if you met a jedi it was a huge thing, you followed him around asking him questions and wanting to duel him, but they never dueled because of saber TEF, if you found a jedi grinding out in the open, you /sit down and just watch them and dream of the day you could be like them.
