Thread: The only hard part of becoming a Jedi is Defense v. Boredom

But no where does it say "to become a jedi & train as a jedi, you must stare blankly at your screen & grind the same $hit, day in, day out"

it's the people that choose to do it this way, if you just played the game, IE, went out with freinds, did quests, then you are not grinding, but still getting the rewards, just at a slower pace.

You choose the path, how you walk it, is up to you.

I do aggree with things not being challenging, I mayself have been playing FFXI since the N/A launch, & to get things done in that game IT IS INSANE how hard some things are, 8 hours+ to get 3 items just so you can get to the next level, challenging, yes, exciting? far from it, I took my time making my temp, & it still isn't finished, yes the theme parks are not hard, just time consuming, & there is zero depth in the path to jedi, But a path, it still is.

I like things the way they are, except buffs, did you try all the theme parks & grinding unbuffed? well there is your challenge right there, The players have become stronger then the enviorment, i imagine the CU intends to change this.

I choose to walk & explore the path, not head in at 1000mph with tunnel vision, My grind has not become dull or boring or difficult at all, Actually, I'm enjoying it, Alot.

Hah! I looted a +25 defense vs. Boredom off Lord Nyax! My grinding experience was hilariously fun! I wish I could do it all over again!

.....really, though, it was a pain, but the first time I heard that lightsaber start up made it all worth it.

I was 4 years vet of Everquest. And I played EQ2 till 46 assassin/47 alchemist.

But don't expect eq-like in SWG dude.

SWG is a swg. Actually SWG has less of high-end contents compared to everquest1, 2 , and other mmorpgs.

But I feel much better in swg. I love this great game. Because people makes this game more greater than any other MMORPGs.

If you do want high end contents, u can go back to everquest1 or 2.

Still a lot of casual players ( most of them are damn good players) feel hard to become a jedi.

If devs make jedi path more complexed and hard-core way like everquest(ever-flagging), only few of hard-core players can be a jedi.

But I don't wanna see that whole bunch of UBER fools in SWG.

I quit Everquest2 since it's worse than everquest 1. Both game have very aggressive communities , even u can see the greed all the time. I'm fed up with that.

And I chosed to play SWG. As u know if u come to Rome, follow rome's rule.

It's SWG not everquest.

Nobody urges u to grind in swg. That's ur choice. Still a lot of players enjoy game. and making a jedi while doing so. That's the very difference between SWG and other MMORPGs.

Not a flame - just curiosity really. How exactly do you go out with friends, do quests, etc. without gaining visibility? I see Jedi being the most boring simply because anything worthwhile to do in game as far as quests go will give you visibility - not to mention in order to get glowy in the first place most quests are done already. Hanging with friends hunting brings up visibility too. So if you are playing along with the timeline and trying to remain hidden to avoid the wrath of the Empire...what is left to do but grind?

I like the idea that Jedi doesn't have to be a grind, but I don't see it being feasible without dodging BHs every step of the game. One thing that really bugged me was that I wanted to experience the content of the game at my own leisure and space it out so there would be something fun to do when I didn't feel like hunting or crafting, but the whole FS thing basically forced you through all of it at once. Ok, yeah no one held a blaster to my head and said do it all at once, but c'mon if you wanted your jedi as soon as possible then that's what you had to do. RPing a Jedi could be a lot of fun, but really what can you roleplay? Today I'm hiding....tomorrow I'm hiding....no one can know I'm a Jedi....ok that gets a little old. I can get creative of course, but truly RPing a jedi now is all about remaining unknown. Ok I think I'm rambling now, so what I'm really getting at is what is there to do with your jedi other than grind since the object is not to gain visibility?

Theme Parks are ridiculously easy for even the newest player to complete.

Village quests (up until the LAST one) present no challenge.

Trails are drawn out.

And in the end? We become Knight/Master. We look back at our "accomplishments".

Too bad Sony didn't make the effort to give us, the gamer, a more satisfying road to travel on our Jedi quest. By the time most of us reach the apex of Jedi, we are burnt out from weeks/months of grinding. No wonder they allow us to "unlock" a new character.

Flame on.....

It's actually quite simple.

SOE doesn't want to encourage players to pursue Jedi. It's not at all meant to be fun. It's not meant to be stimulating. It's not meant to be a good time.

Well, I was talking about the FS grind when i said hunt with freinds, I can't speak for the Jedi grind because i am not a Jedi.

But, Visibility is part of jedi, you should accept this before you even begin your FS grind, If you want to hunt with freinds, do it, but you will have to defend yourself sooner or later.

RP? what is a better RP situation than defending yourself from attack, Knowing you are hunted, & out smarting your hunter each step of the way.

So when you become a knight, you will still fear Vis, everyone can quote me here, Vis excites me, I like the idea, if i get on the terms, thats my problem, if i am defeated by a BH, or by many BH, again, my problem, it's up to me to learn from that & be more prepared next time.

There are pro's & cons to everything, we could discuss it all day, I choose not too, Because this is a game, & i find fun in every aspect of it, After all, that is what games are about.

I want be hunted, I want to hide, & i want to fight when the time comes, I have no freinds in this game, so it easy for me to become a Ghost, I imagine it is different for those of you with close freinds, But we all know the penalty for Vis, But it's finding fun in that penalty, that will be more beneficial in the end

May the force be with you, All of you.

Ah ok, makes sense for FS xp As far as the Jedi thing goes I think it will be really exciting once you get Knight and visibility isn't an issue anymore cause your overt all the time anyway. Until Knight tho I plan on being a ghost. Well I have to get through the FS stuff first so...weeeeeeee.

On another note I managed to stay awake long enough last night to last through a whole buff session.

Sorry, no non-Master Lightsaber will agree with you on that, heck most who aren't nearly Knight won't agree with that.

I agree, it is senseless grinding, but do you have a better idea? I mean this IS a video game, after all, and not a $80,000 career at The Department of Homeland Security. I keep hearing from many how bad the game is, but what do you do about it.

You make your opinion public and hopes that someone with the ability to make some changes reads it. The game as a whole is fun. The hoops and hurdles you jump through to become a Jedi is'nt.
