Ok ive tested this.. i simply respeced to rifleman.. i could destroy all the crystals. Only the person who has the quest may attack the crystals..!

Yep this guy is right, spend most of the day trying to kill that darn second crystal. Went rifleman and had no problem takeing out all crystals. So this worked for me. Now I willjust waite till tommorw respect back to a swordsman and start my paddy trials. Yaaaaaa

I don't think you're correct on this one. I recently ran the mission for a friend. We had two groups. Myself and one other rifleman took down the crystals while everyone else (including the person holding the mission) sat back and watched/waited. I was grouped w/ the mission holder and the other rifleman wasn't. We had no problems destroying all four crystals.

Well I can tell you that me hitting the crystals with my power hammer sure didn't work. Bah!

I retract my previous "I don't think you are correct" post. I ran my Mel mission last night and that sucker is bugged big time. It was a pain in the butt compared to the previous mission I ran (post-CU) where another rifleman and I took out all four crystals for one of my friends.


It spawned in a forest on a hillside and was buggy as hell. It took us several hours and at least 10 attempts including several shuttles and logout/logins to reset the mission. Our first few attempts failed due to the indestructible crystals. In some cases, I could only see two of the four crystals. On the first "only Gunar will hit the crystals" attempt, I took the first one out with a rifle and the second one was indestructible because I took it out with a blaster fist (although I have a feeling someone might have accidentally hit it with an area attack). In the end, here's what worked:



  1. Logged out/in to reset quest

  2. Shuttled to make all four crystals appear (some could see them all, but I could not)

  3. I, and ONLY I, took down the crystals WITH A RIFLE (slow due to respeccing and not having rifleman skills).2 x Green, then 2 x red.

  4. Everyone else covers my back/keeps aggro off me

  5. Beat Dak and Mel into oblivion and finish the quest

  6. We were forced to eat Robin's Minstrels.

  7. There was much rejoicing.

  8. Yaaaaay!

My groupcompleted the missionin less than 5 minutes. Crystals were still bugged too. Mell went down in less than 60 seconds. Here's how....


I'm a Jedi with 0400 Force Powers (has /forceCloak) and Enhancer 0002 (channel). I pull a swoop out 200m from camp, wp it.I get 60m from the camp and shoot Mell, run around and get every NPC to aggro me. Then /forceCloak. I go invisible, but everything chases me. I drag all the NPCs away from camp and channel to keep the cloak on. We tried to destroy the crystals and couldn't get any down below 80% before regen.


Finally, we decided to attack Mell. If one ranged prof shoots him, he will stop aggroing the cloaked Jedi and the whole group can kill him easily. Had about 9 ranged profs rooting, snaring, and shooting. Dead in less than a minute and a new Jedi is born. I just ran to my bike, decloaked and rode off into a logout.


I want to add that I dragged him quite a way from the camp, 100m+ from nearest crystal. He may not have been able to heal from the crystals because he was too far from them.

must be a bug i did my quest tonight with 4 other people 3 riflemen including myself took out the crystals no problems at all

yup this worked for us tonight. Tried 4 times w/o rifleman and crystals would always bug. Did it once with rifleman got all crystals destroyed but freaking server shutdown before we could kill him will try again tomorrow

Any pistol or carbineer there can destroy them too ?


Or only riflemen ?

Just did it two days ago Master Bounty Hunter / Master Carbineer took a bunch of my guildies out there one a Jedi Knight and a bunch of Paddys and everyone help me shoot the crystals and the second one was bug so in the meantime the Jedi Knight pulled Mel far away from camp while we slaughtered the rest in the camp and only had mel left remember reading somewhere about logging so I did a quick logout and login and when I did that came back all crystals were destroyed and everyone was giving Mell the kitchen sink dropped him less than a minute so if the crystal is bugged for you try the login it worked for me hope this helps

Confirmed! this does work, i just respec'ed to rifleman and it does indeed work. thanks alot!

Yes this is sort of what i did for a friend. There were four of us; Me ,another tank, the dude with the quest, and a guardian. I bought 3 laser rifles off the zar and we shoot the crystals. First 2 blew up. Gaurdian tanked dak and we killed the 2 thugs and then killed dak. Then we shot out the first red crystal. It blew. 2nd red one didnt work so we killed everyone but mel and just kept mel kded and gaurdian tanked. Then the guy with the quest logged in and out and the crystals were gone. We just waited for him to get 1 hit jsut to be safe adn then it was over
