* (Conclusion) Based on our discussion, it seems the prize is nothing more than a trinket. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I received the 20 charge LS crafting toolkit for completing highest quality on Corbantis. I'm not a jedi, but I have a few friends that are, so we thought we'd start some tests and get your feedback from the results you are finding.
It seems like it is bugged, so we have only had one jedi try this so far until we hear more from all of you. Here is what we found:
I won the award, but I left a Jedi with Master Sabers try and craft a few sabers to compare the results. Same materials in both tests. I'll ask the jedi who did this to elaborate on any other details regarding materials etc. Bottom line, first try resulted in no charges being used on the toolkit and no apparent difference between a saber crafted with this toolkit and a regularly crafted saber.
Jedi tried two more crafts, my toolkit shows now 18 charges (after 3 tries) and all 4 sabers are identical. The three crafted with this toolkit and the other crafted with the same materials.
I would expect some difference in results?! Please post comments, questions and YOUR findings here! Thanks,

Maybe the tool results bind to the award winner?
probably not, seems like too much work to program in for these things...

I would think they'd just make it no trade then?

It's supposed to give you a critical success on assembly. I assume anyway, it only says "guaranteed critical assembly" but i presume that it doesn't mean you're guaranteed to get a critical failure (obviously), and it definately shouldn't guarantee against getting a critical failure since that is absolutely worthless since you no longer lose crystals/pearls in crafting so all a failure means is a insignificant amount of resources.
Now, after doing a ton of research on 'critical success' on assembly, there are a few people who have documented info about it on the forums.
It's extremely rare (no more then 1 in 15,000 at best it appears).
It supposedly treats all resource stats at 100% IE: 1000/1000/1000 etc so that the initial combine has the best possible stats.
As a result of the above, it should also let you experiment fully on both lines (maybe not to 100%, because a gated resource will only function at 100% of its gated level).
Anyway, the simple fact that absolutely nothing happens with them needs to be addressed, and since there are only a couple dozen of these in existance, we should all PM Tiggs to hopefully get a statement on what's up, otherwise it will likely get overlooked.

I used the same resources on all four sabers. All attempts were made with the same crafting station in a research center.
Saber one -my own crafting tool, great success on assembly
Saber two - reward crafting tool, amazing succes on assembly, pyollian cake, did not count against the 20 assemblies
Saber three - reward crafting tool, amazing success on assembly, pyollian cake
Saber four - reward crafting tool, amazing success on assembly, no pyollian cake
I thought just maybe the assembly food was affecting what the reward was supposed to do, which is why I tried that last time. I wouldn't think a failed assembly would count against the 20 anyway, but who knows.
In all cases, stats at assembly were the same, and they experimented the same way. The only difference was in the serial number of the finished product.

From what I understand of critical assemblies, the base stats upon assembling would be higher than the base stats upon an ordinary assembly, and a critical assembly would allow experimentation to above the normal maximum. I am not a Jedi myself, but I think it depends on where the jedi spends his experimentation points, and at what level a particular line maxes out.
Nice work on winning the 20 use, I hope it turns out to have a tangible benefit.

i heard the same thing from one other person.
Meaning, it's either bugged or it is intentionally worthless and worded wrong (it guarantees you won't get a crit fail perhaps).

with this tool you get an amazing succes in the assembly...
i made a saber and i got +3 max damage and +1 min damage
more than in the sabers made with a normal crafting tool...
i don't think this +3 bonus is worth the millions i wasted making the quest....

an amazing success in assembly does not do *anything*. perhaps you used different resources?

it doesn't say anything about a critical success, I think its laughable that everyone drew that conclusion.

did you look at the screenshots? it says right on it "guaranteed critical assembly".
It's either a success or failure, or the devs mis-typed it like they have done on so many other numerous items.

Not only was it the stupidest idea of a prize, but its worthless because its bugged
