did you look at the screenshots? it says right on it "guaranteed critical assembly".
It's either a success or failure, or the devs mis-typed it like they have done on so many other numerous items.

I WON one. I know exactly what it does not say.

hardest, most time consuming, most expensive item in the game is completely worthless?

Not only is it worthless, but the devs wrote right on it that its GUARANTEED to not be worthless.

lol. If you were a dev, and you made a super rare, ultra hard to get new loot and you guaranteed that it worked, don't you think you would at very least take the 3m to log in to your internal servers and use it JUST ONCE to make sure it actually worked as guaranteed?

I love how the main excuse we have been given the past 6 months for the infinate delay of just about everything is that "they are going to take the time to do it right" and the like, then what little they do infact do, they don't take the time to do right.

So here is the big question, since it is guaranteed to work, and it's not working, what do we get? A coupon for a free big mac? a 110% price match? Our money back?

Even so much as some acknowledgement?

The only difference I could see in the 2 attempts I used the prize tool for was amazing success on both assemblies.

Two attempts resulted in 1 lost charge on the tool (down to 19).

Similarly, I got identical results with the prize tool as with my regular 15.0 rated LS crafting tool.

I used the same resources, and experimented the same way. Was in a reasearch center, and tried 1 attempt using food, and one using no food iwth the new tool. Used food with the regular tool. Also had M Saber.

If you received the Lightsaber crafting toolkit in Phase 2 and used it, please post your results. So far it appears to do nothing beneficial beyond what a normal tool could do.

If it does not work, please /bug it so we can get some Dev feedback on this.

I used the same resources on all four sabers. All attempts were made with the same crafting station in a research center.

Saber one -my own crafting tool, great success on assembly

Saber two - reward crafting tool, amazing succes on assembly, pyollian cake, did not count against the 20 assemblies

Saber three - reward crafting tool, amazing success on assembly, pyollian cake

Saber four - reward crafting tool, amazing success on assembly, no pyollian cake

I thought just maybe the assembly food was affecting what the reward was supposed to do, which is why I tried that last time. I wouldn't think a failed assembly would count against the 20 anyway, but who knows.

In all cases, stats at assembly were the same, and they experimented the same way. The only difference was in the serial number of the finished product.

An amzing success is not the same as a criticle success. If you are not getting Criticle success then the tool is not working as described. An amazing success only starts the object out at a higher %, say 21% instead of the normal 18% you normally start with before experimentation. A criticle assembly will allow you to go beyond the hard caps of your resources and you can experiment it to a much higher % than is normally achievable given the same resoruces(similar to the one day crafting patch).

But I guess my main point here is that an "Amazing Success" is not a "Criticle Success" and therefore the tool would appear to be broken or bugged or what ever term you would like to use for it. It is not acting as it was designed to(based on it's description).

Where are you getting this information on "critical success" results?

I've made literally thousands of layers, segments, and armor schematics, and I've never seen a "critical success" in the results screen post-assembly. Most long-time armorsmiths acknowledge that there is a bug that allows the crafter to slightly exceed the normal hard caps on resources (usually for me an extra percentage point or two on base effectiveness), but I've never seen it called anything other than a bug.

I'm not disputing that such assemblies happen, I've just never heard of them being related to anything other than a bug.

1) an amazing success and a great success on assembly have absolutely no difference what so ever. It's not 3% better stats, it not higher exp values, NOTHING.

2) there is a lot of documentation on critical success' in the 'development archive' forum, or whatever its called. There is a massively long thread where TH and some other dev discussed the experimentation process, and TH specifically confirmed that critical success' exist, they are not a bug. This tool however, is bugged.

You can get a critical success?

Yes - - with the same frequency.

And thanks to everyone in this discussion. This has been not only a great discussion thread but a lot of great info has come up and its been interesting

There are a few different issues, but all of them are being considered for development improvement.

If TH says that a critical success happenes with the same frequency as a Crit Fail then he is talking about an amazing succes and not some uber assembly that supposedly happens 1 in 10000 assemblies.

even if there is no critical success because it's a bug, and this tool is meant to give you an amazing success, its still absolutely retarded.

An amazing success does absolutely nothing better then a great success on assembly, and crystals/pearls arent used in the construction of a saber anymore so all this does is make sure you don't run the risk of you 1/20 change of losing like 200 resources.

That is supposed to be an adequate reward for something so time consuming as the crafting quest? At best, it might be worth 50k, where the resources that are needed to completet the quest either require dozens of hours or peoples time or millions of credits to buy.

To top it off, only a handful are given out on each server.

dumbest thing ever. They might as well have made the reward a 1 socket 'warm hat' thats neon pink, that would have been worth more.
