I'm masterswords/ 4-0-4-0 commando and fighting giant canyon krayts i only had to heal myself twice(buffed with comp armor), also using spin attack i can clear any lair in 2-3 minutes( takes longer to travel to the lair) which is easy xp.
The only minus is that its hard to make money.

if you are juststarting the village stay what you are because at 1 buff session a day =60k FS xp you will get all the FS xp you need for one tree by then end of a full phase. If you are part way or closer to the end of the village go commando and grind grind grind, thats what im doing now and i have 2 weeks or so of power grinding to finish

I would do whatever you have to, to get maybe 5-8 million credits, once you have reached that mark go TKM 4000 commando,
TKM is an excellent profession to unlock any of the difficult phases like melee accurcy (which you need a few people to help you with anyway) and will be helpfull when after blowing stuff up for hours you can meditate off your wounds. TKM is also the most important profession for a new jedi, beside having a decent amount of medic.

Iwas a master swordsman, commando 3/0/0/0. With Imperial Detonators it took me only a week of grinding to finish out the 4 trees I had unlocked earlier but not filled. I was very happy when I finished grinding on saturday night.

Yep, sad fact is if you want it done quickly and effectively, do the nade method.
I did it the hard way, combat and weps exp, as the nade method for 6 full branches was way out of my budget.
Upto you really, how do you wanna do it? Cost effective but longer, or expensive as hell but quicker?

I don't have a bottomless pit of money, going doc might alleviate that a bit... I'm a more casual player and I play my TKM Bounty Hunter on another server quite often too...
Can anyone comment on the usefulness of Doc as a FS grind? My logic was rule out all the travelling by attacking wild lairs near the village and taking novice scout so the only reason to leave the village would be BF, which can run uip high before you get problems anyway. I hate queueing and paying for buffs all the time too.
I haven't actually finished my template or POI grind yet -but I want to build a good FS grind template BEFORE I get to the village...
Can anyone give me a comparable estimate as to costs in credits and hours grinding to get Padawan for these tempaltes? I know it's alot to ask but I think it's the only way I can make a sensible decision.
Thanks for interesting responses so far by the way, still not decided though.

What about this for an idea :-
Novice Medic { USe Stim-B's}
Master Swordsman
TKA 4003 {Meditate wounds, Melee defence, increase XP caps and Add unarmed.}
Commando 4000 {nade grind and high Combat XP cap.}
How does that sounds ?

Right I amat the stage of grinding, after having changed my mind twice back and fourth between these that I need to make a decision!
Option 1:-
Master Doc
Master Swordsman
Scout 0010
Good points:- Can self buff and make money from buffing, if grinding combat on Avians can gather meat for buffs, can rez and buff for FS exchange XP, can acquire loot items needed once a Jedi and probably make a bit of money.
Bad Points:-
FS grind will be slow, as weapons XP doesn't convert well. Swordsman is not great for defences, it relies on High damage to kill opponents quickly - so may have trouble with high HAM mobs.
Option 2:-
Commando 4000
Doctor 3440
Good points:- can self buff mini-buffs if purchased froma doc. Can get Combat XP easily which converts very well.
Bad points:- Low defences, no mega effective combat ability, very draining on cash due to nade costs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So what do you think?
Would you go option 1 or option 2 and why ?
Hmm not bad, but again the issue is if you can afford so many nades for the entire 6 branches.
Asa coverall fall back,
Could I go Master Swords, Master Doc, and then use my remaining 18 SP to get a higher Combat XP Cap and just top up combat with C12's ? Any suggestions on how I could do that ?
300k is the highest your combat xp cap will ever be. having master swordsman and master doc will allow you to reach that 300k cap. c12's work well to suppliment your profession if you dont want to change, but coming from all sides of the fence, c12's pale in comparison to commando nades. if you do decide to do c12's, do hurton stalker missions on dant, as iv tried c12's on both stalkers and baznitches, and stalkers go down alot easier with c12's. however if you decide to do imperial detonators or thermals or protons, use baznitches. the huge difference in damage makes there 25% resists nearly unnoticible, and your that much closer to the village.
also, be prepared to use about 3 times as many c12's as imperial detonators per lair. i can kill an entier wave of baznitches (about 10, give or take a few) with 3 or less stacks (15 throws) usually less then 10 really. but with c12's, on hurton stalkers, itll take me atleast 4 or 5 stacks. thats without pups on either grenade. so choose your poison. if you got credits to burn, but not time to burn, go commando, youll thank yourself. if your strapped for credits, but likewise got plenty of time, do c12's or continue grinding normally. me personally, im not strapped for time, but i only need phase 2 unlock before im done, and i want to have all the neccesary xp when i finish it, so i can just train up and move on.
I HIGHLY recommend the nade way, especially if you're a casual player kind of like I am. It's much faster, but it is expensive and it does take time healing wounds and bf.
A great alternative: Instead of spending mega amounts of $$$, check with a WS (maybe a guildmate) about making some grenades for you. Make a deal that YOU will gather all the resources from guildmates, vendors, etc. and then he/she will make a factory run of 40 crates for you. You'll be out very little $, especially if he's a guildmate. You might pay the WS for the time to use his/her factories but it should help a lot. You'll need more nades than this if you do the FS way 100% through nades, but it will get you through about 4 of the 6 trees.
how much time do you have, and is getting to paddy something you want now, or can you wait a few weeks??
I'm a TKM/Master Ranger/some Medic, and although it's a longer grind for unarmed/combat, I can easily pay for buffs with either a) a few good missions, or b) collecting resources for vendors. If I walk around in the wild and spend almost 100% of my buff time hunting (outside of caves), I can muster about 20k-40k FS xp (which admitedly isn't HUGE, but the caves have been seriously overcrowded and full of "taunting" jerks lately). I will almost definetly NOT finish grinding my first tree by the phase shift, but to me the important thing is to unlock my trees, not necessarily finish grinding them in 6 weeks. I'll be paddy whenever the good graces of the xp gods shine down upon thee.
My concise recommendation: unlock your trees, and try to grind/play the game as leisurely as seems fit for you. I go hunting with friends, I randomly hit NPCs on Dath, I do faction missions... And all that gives me xp. Obviously not as fast as dropping nades for 4 hours straight, but a helluva lot more entertaining.
Do what feels good,
