Thread: Jedi Population FS Quest Question

I dont think there is ever going to be a soloution to the jedi that are all around.. The problem is there is just WAY to much information avaliable on the internet now...

Think about it, if we didn't have all these wonderful guides on becoming force sensitive, how many people would take the time to figure it out. We would have 20% of the jedi's that we do now....

Hell, we have sticky's that tell you EXACTLY what to do, and people still ask questions and can't figure it out....

There needs to be a quest system that is not the same for everyone, and that changes COMPLETELY on every account... I just do not think its possible. If its even the same type of quest, there will be 40 guides up almost overnight describing things to try to become FS....

no real point, have just spent the last few days on thinking how they could improve the process, and cant really come up with a solid answer.. there are Many things they can do to make it a little better, but until they only allow x # of jedi on a server, there will never really be an answer.. (of course, thats a crappy soloution, and wouldn't work.)

Because any star wars continuity that this game ever had was completely decimated by it?

Sir, I waited 2 years for this game. I always wished I would become one of a few Jedi on my server, though I knew I probably never would. Now anyone can be one, it sucks.

The increased jedi population has pretty much ruined the GCW war for non-jedi as they just can't stand toe to toe with them.

If "too many Jedi" is the problem, then why the bass-ackwards attempts to limit or slow their growth in numbers?

There is a change to XP conversion rates for Combat XP. BAD way to handle a problem in my opinion. Make it a longer grind to get to Initiate? With all the other changes, it doesn't make any sense.

So it takes longer to get to Padawan - a Jedi that is little more than a CL1 in terms of capability using Force powers. Might be a good idea if there wasn't that big Kashyyyk carrot sitting there, begging for players to grind up in relative safety. Instead of making it an imperative for Jedi to be anonymous, the development has moved to adding incentives to grind it out.

So suffer a little bit longer to get to Padawan, then go buck-wild grinding away to get to Jedi Knight.

What kind of logic is that?

The problem isn't so much that the game has too many Jedi, it's the fact that the Dev team seems to be lost when it comes to logic or common sense. Think about the 3 iconic classes within Star Wars; Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, Jedi. Of those three, only Jedi has any form of content, and at that it's *grinding* for the most part.

So the answer the Devs come up with to resolve one of these problems is "Make them grind longer."?

Shrewd.

If this game is static, as you say. Then explain to me how come i cant go back and do the Cries of Alderaan Story Arc. Or what about the hologrinding and the new village system that seemed to change alot of things. How about a new publish every month that completely changes the entire way the majoratiy of plays play the game. Try explaining that.

Because Jedi are still built like they are supposed to be rare and difficult to get. They can argue all they want, but Jedi is extremely powerful, especially when played by someone who knows what they are doing. They can be utterly self-sufficient, making their own weapons, having built-in armor, which damages the player-based economy, especially considering their numbers. Jedi aren't as powerful as they used to be (thank god), but it still stands that, point-wise, they are the most powerful profession in the game.

Now can you give me a reason why Jedi should be as powerful as they are in this game, without using the timeline or movies?

I understand completely that its a game, and I really truly cant find anything in my original post that would lead you to believe I was completely heartbroken about the # of jedi in game. I think its kinda stupid, and does not fit the "Star Wars" universe at all, and especially that "Timeline BS" you talk about.

The big debate on the FS boards, (I'm assuming you are fairly new here) is the fact that getting FS is just way to easy, and there needs to be a differnet path to become Jedi. (Here is a hint, they are still supposed to be rare according to sony/Lucas) and increasing grind time to become jedi by 30-50% is just a silly soloution to about everyone..

Now, go back, take a few deep breaths and read what I wrote. Do you feel the current quest system is working as intended? Do you think anything should change with the current Jedi population.

Oh, and just FYI - The NUMBER of jedi do not bother me in the least, what does bother me is the QUALITY of players that are jedi it seems like... Jedi just happens to be the cloest thing to an "I WIN" button for the powergamers right now in PVP in the game, so it attracts the "kids" that wanna run around being a general pain in the rear. I by no means think all jedi are these type, I actually think it could be just the vocal minority that are. Its the 10 level 80 full template jedi that are standing in Theed challenging everyone that is level 40 and below to duels and screaming some sort of profanity at everyone that passes that bother me.

Czar243,

My alt is a Jedi and I can almost bet you are whining about too many Jedi because you do NOT have one? Would I be correct in this assumption?

*shrug*

Why is it all you defensive people can only point out I said there were to many Jedi?

What about the quest system? what about being able to go from a level 1 brand new character to FS in a few hours.

Apparently I am the only one that thinks that is an issue.

Let me rephrase to make everyone happy....

"The jedi Population is perfect, there is just the right amount.. There are suppoed to be hundreds of jedi in major cities standing around dueling, showing off. Its what was meant to be..."

However, if that statement was not quite true and you are Sony, do you believe you could create a quest system that would make people "Figure it out" on thier own instaed of just running to a board and following the carrots? Do you think you could give almost each player a "unique" path to Jedi.

Personaly I dont think it can happen.

But hey, your right, my whole post was just about the jedi population, nothing about any namby-pamby quest system. There I edited the name of the original post so all you people who are blinding defending an obviously broken quest system don't feel so used.

It would be hypocritical of him to make a Jedi if he thought there were too many, don't you think so?

I say balance Jedi the way that Commando was "balanced." I have no problem with how easy Jedi is to get and keep, and I have no problem with the strength of Jedi. The combination of the two is the problem. Since it's too late to make it harder to get and keep, remove their strength and put them in line with other professions. Of course, since you have a Jedi alt, I can almost bet you'll come up with some bogus reason why there should be an alpha class in the game. Or you'll say that Jedi is balanced with the other professions.

Here's a hint- there wouldn't be so many Jedi if Jedi were weak or extremely difficult to earn and play.
