SOE has little interest or incentive to reduce the number of Jedi - in fact they want more and could care less about our concerns or sticking to "canon" on this. Everything they do seems oriented towards one single purpose - encouraging people to renew their subscriptions. Thats fine, they are a business and must make a profit of course, but quality of the gaming experience seems to have been tossed out on the garbage heap in favor of just providing incentives to renew. Its like they are desperate to survive or something.
* The changes to the Newbie quests provide the impression that "any boy can be jedi". Result, newbs want to head straight for Jedi and miss out on the rest of the content of the game.
* Becoming a Jedi takes months at the minimum. If there are too many Jedi, their solution is to make it take a little longer, ie more renewals.
* Rage of the Wookies comes out and to ensure it sells to existing players, includes the ability to safely grind Jedi on Kashyyyk.
* Regular changes to the game consistently seem to make it easier to play a Jedi without any negative side. No other profession seems to get this attention.
* The devs don't seem to concentrate on fixing existing problems with other professions, instead their attention goes to developing new content, most of which seems to be improvements or changes to Jedi. Some professions have had existing bugs since beta, many years ago. These remain untouched and uncommented on. I think the devs are convinced these are lower priority because they are lower population, without realizing they are lower population because they have these bugs.
* Gradually over time, all of the high negative aspects of Jedi have been removed. No Permadeath, now no vis from party members, no names on BH terms, only single BHs as opponents, safe grinding, etc etc.
If there is a solution to the Jedi population problem its going to be found in some manner that doesn't reduce the population. Expect the population to increase continuously. Jedi is already the highest population profession, - and I expect that it will continue to be so unless they offer some other alternative Elite professions that people can work towards as alternatives - so allow for that. I expect it to be made a starting class in the future, because SOE knows it is the carrot that sells the game and they are worried about their bottom line more than their reputation as developers.
SOE will never do anything to reduce the Jedi population - for that way lies reduced subscriptions, it does. What they *might* do is put into place some incentives to stay out of visibility in the towns and cities. That will reduce the population because a considerable number of Jedi are being played by people who are Jedi for the express purpose of waving in other people's faces I think. Most are there because its clearly the most powerful character in the game. Make an alternative that is more powerful and many will move without hesitation. They are not devoted to being "Jedi" just having an IWIN button. If Master Artisan suddenly got an IWIN button they would be MAs before you know it, even if they couldn't spell Artisan.
The problem is that the huge number of Jedi is affecting all aspects of the game in a negative manner apparently. They have less impact on the economy, they dominate the CGW etc etc. SO eventually something will be done I hope but I don't expect much. SOE blew it from the start with this game, despite its great potential. I am sure many of its players could have devised much better mechanics for a lot of parts of the game, I know I could have

Czar243,
It matters not to me if you want to make me happy or not. Let me ask you in plain simple English. Do you have a Jedi? A yes or no is all I am looking for. You must be a Master Politician because you completely ducked the question the first time! lol

Do I have a jedi? No.
Does that make what I said any different?
I see you already have a "Jedi alt" and by your recent confusion and post on this forum about a problem with the old man, you must be 1) lying about the first, or 2) working on your second...
Either way doesn't really matter to me.. if its #1, I dont really care, still doesn't chang my original point... if #2 you have proven my point completely. Its too easy!
Time != Difficulty.
To the other 2-3 posters above mine that actually put some thought into it, Thank you.. I at least see I am not the only one that feels the way I do. I do agree that they will never really truly limit the number of people that are jedi. It would be cutting off quite a bit of their income...
I still see BountyHunters as a Viable soloution and a counter to the Jedi... Give BH's more incentive to take those missions and hunt the Jedi.. Make it a bit easier for them to get a mission and track down a ONLINE Jedi.. Give them some way to get the guys that do nothing but sit in a house all day, grind on Kyshakk, etc, etc. At least BEING a jedi will be more difficult, and not how it is now.
Of course, None of my opinion's are valid, I dont have a jedi...Right Mooshi?

Lying about my Jedi? Um ok. Come to Scylla and see if I am lying about my Jedi. I have no reason to lie about him. I really don't care if you think I am lying or not. I have a Jedi account and also two glowies. No need to get all upset because you do not have a Jedi. I wasn't poking fun at you at all. I have no need for 3 Jedis anyways. If you come to Scylla, look for Mooshi online and then I will show you my Jedi which you doubt I have.

Mooshi... You are completely missing my points.
The point is you have 3 characters that are eligible to become a jedi after just grinding experience (which, would you agree is a fairly simple task?)...
My point is to become force sensitive is to easy.
You can't tell me you think the route to being a Jedi is difficult, can you?
Time consuming, yes. Difficult, No.
My question was: Do you think they can come up with a FS Unlock system that can not be written in a guide on some forum for all to see, and that can be accomplised as a level 1 character.. Do you have any ideas that would improve on the current implemtation.
So to recap foreveryone in the cheap seats:
1) I think the road to being glowie is to simple, but I dont see a viable way to "Fix" it, do you?
2) I dont care if you have 43 jedi accounts or 0 - it does not matter (see #1)
3) See #1.

Personally, I feel sorry for my friend who has had a Jedi since last year. Ya know... back when hearing a saber ignite was unusual and exciting. Now you can't swing a dead cat in a space port without hitting a jedi. Please note the difference between a Jedi and a jedi.
What used to be a difficult and honorable professions is now common, mundane, and boring.
Obviously, the only way to clean out all the posers is to bring back permadeath. Since that won'thappen, I'm not sure there's much hope for this game for anyone but power-gaming punks. Of course, if that's what you're into.....
