Has anyone noticed that at least 90% of FS questions and threads are from new players???

I'm not trying to flame them, or be n00b-ist, but should'nt they really play the game and get a feel for it before they try and get Jedi???

Just a thought...

It's all part of SOE's plan to turn Star Wars Galaxies into Jedi Galaxies.

It's been going this way for ages, but now they're actively encouraging newbies to run for Jedi. The old tutorial was a Star Wars experience, being told to "Move along" by Stormtroopers, given the run around by Imperial Officers... Now it's basically "Look at our shiny glowsticks, play for long enough and you get one too".

It's not so much new players not bothering to explore the games content first, as it is SOE's marketing department deciding "We decided to kill off any sense of Star Wars and Continuity yet; so lets go the full way and advertise this game as Jeteye online!"

Crixx, Xicrx and Crixxorian Darkmoon - Rebellion, Corsec and Imperial Ace Pilots respectively.
"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."
"If your pvp battles in space only last a few seconds YOU need practice. The game isn't broken, you just suck!" - Thik
"There's no sensation quite like learning to fly. Tounge-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I." -Pink Floyd
"One/two shot PvP is good because this is a game of EVASION. NOT ABSORBTION" - Big mean heartbreaker.
"Sod implementing anything half-decent, we have SWG to make! OLOL!"
"We already have expertise in space. It's called a brain." - Leaph.

I became glowy as fast as was possible when i first began the game, and grineded like mad to finaly beable to unlock a jedi, no its not wrong of them, you learn as you go, i learn more now as a stronger player then i did as a "noob". It takes about a month to become glowy, and in that month you can learn alot. (not trying to bash you jsut stating how i feel lol)

Thats fair enough, and I'm not saying its wrong to do it, but if I were a lvl 22 toon and 2-3 lvl 77 Sith Shadows came after me, I'd pap me pants then die, tbh...

month to get glowy? did it really take you that long? did you read the post about the guy that got glowy and ground out ALL the FS XP he needed to unlock in the 30 day free trial that came with the game? one month in the game is not enough at all. ive been in the game over a year and i still learn new things every day. you think that you know alot about the game, but from my point of view (and most other 1+ year players), you know very little.

SOE screwed up the entire game when the village was implemented. the hologrind scared people and was mysterious and kept the jedi population down. now they are telling noobies when they first begin that jedi is the only thing the game has to offer and dont worry about anything else until you have achieved it. there are guides to getting jedi and all you have to do it do some dumb quests and grind X amount of FS XP. lame

Yeah but lamer was mastering 5 elite professions. You'd get holocrons to tell you what profession to master, and they would tell you the first 4 but when it came to the 5th profession, you had to start blindly picking elite professions you hadn't mastered and hope you find the right one. That was a totally bogus way to get your jedi. It's better than it was in the beginning. But since CU went in, it's too easy to get exp point you need, so I think the FS boxes should have their exp requirements raised so it takes as long as it did pre-CU to get the exp points you need.

Their biggest mistake was making so easy to get Jedi AND giving a free character slot (yes, I know back in the day you got a free slot too, but that was mainly because your alt was a Jedi who could ONLY raise Force skills.)

Now there's no incentive NOT to make your main a Jedi, because you lose absolutely nothing, and gain a lot more.

FS doesn't take long to get at all.. ever. It's just more people joined up with the ads and new movie. I rememberon the forums people were yelling to change the unlocking profs because people started to grind too quick. People where saying that you could get one in a month if you had the money (10$ on ebay) and the right macros (alittle research). But, people will always say " Back when I was a kid it only costed 25cents" yea yea grandpa we know.

I must warn you, I'm very good at back flips.

holocrons controlled the jedi population though. im not saying that it was a bad system, it just forced people to take a long, hard look at what they were going to get into. village? psssh, pales in comparison to the hologrind. noobies are getting glowy in a day or two and then grinding out all the xp they need in there 30 day free trial. that is not right. the village isnt a bad idea, there just isnt any mystery to it. the new players master marksman and think they know everything about the game. they couldnt even fathom the hologrind

I agree. I started on day 2 of release. At X-mas when the holos were given out I did the grind. I got to 19 mastered professions and then gave up. I came back to the game about 1 month ago and now am waiting for the next phase shift to get jedi unlocked. The holo grind was much much harder in my mind. Quests are easy, grinding the FS exp was easy. I do have to admit that waiting the 3 weeks for a phase shift has been a little tough though.

If you think that, because the little description to the right says "New Member", means that everyone who is classified this way is a noob, you'd be wrong. I for one, although classified as a new member of the forums, am not a new SWG player. I have been playing along time, and delayed becoming jedi until a few months ago. I only recently signed onto the forums, because of an issue with the phase 4 quest, otherwise, would never have joined the "fan club." So, don't assume anything.

Are your people forgetting that it takes longer than a month for all the phases? I have been in this since the beginning (Beta tester and active acount for 2 years now) and I thought the hologrind was soo bad that I gave up being a Jedi. Now im more than half way through the FS grind while maintainig my "casual player" status and im having fun. Let there be lots of Jedi ther are still more Bounty Hunters to keep them down.
