Thread: Jedi, shmedi... I don't care anymore.

I just decided today that while I *finally* completed Phase 3 for the first unlock, I'm done with moving towards Jedi. At the completion of getting my crystal and mind buff rewards, I was happy... yet it killed my desire to continue. I never expected the path to be easy and I've been willing to do what was needed to reach my goal. But I can only grind so much... there's no way I'm willing to make 60+ trips to the village after spending endless hoursbetween tripsgrinding millions of xp - too much, no fun, no thx.

I started this game back in July of 2003 and I've been off and on throughout this time. My main goal, like many others, was to one day wield a lightsaber. I followed the then-current process of becoming glowy as well as hologrinding, and now I've got it by following the step-by-step procedure listed in the stickies up above on this forum. And now that I've got glowy and found what kind of grind I have to do... SOE, you've killed all desire for me to pursue it.

I guess on one hand I'm thankful that you guys did this because maybe in the end you'll win in reducing the number of jedi that will continue to be created, but on the other hand, you've let me and a lot of my friends down by producing something that finally made me decide to give up. It's too bad too because I really had high hopes and maybe that's where the problem started, expecting too much from this game.

I've got one last month that just autorenewed and then I'm gone.

The force was with this game at one time... but now, like the old man, it only appears once so often and usually I'm not around to see it.

This post is not intended tobash the game or the dev team, I know it must be hard to do what you guys do... I'm just unhappy with the whole thing and this seems like the only way I can have my voice heard. Hopefully you guys really do listen to your customers and value feedback.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. I can understand how many people simply cannot dedicate the time and effort to become Jedi due to RL circumstances and whatnot. Also, I know exactly how you feel because I was in the same situation until recently, where a new job on my own time allowed me to get back into the game and eventually unlock my Jedi.

I am sorry it has stopped being fun for you. I know that it still is a chore to me also.

You people do realize that combat xp is not the only type of xp that can be converted at the village right? Or did I just tell you something you didnt know?

Well, if the FS grind killed your ambition of being a Jedi, the Jedi grind would have. Its the SLOWEST grind out there. It makes the FS grind seem like a cakewalk.

Yeah, I'm aware that there's other ways to get xp besides just combat. I've already grinded out like 300k FS points and decided enough was enough. And to the comment about how this grind is nothing like the grind to get Jedi, I don't doub it. That's the other reason I'm passing on the whole thing. I'm not one to normally give up but this is just silly and unnecessary to pursue for me. I don't have a ton of time to play and pursuing this would only break up the friendships I have with my guild members and its honestly not worth it. Jedi would be cool but its not all the glamour I once thought it was...

I just kept thinking of the jedi. I managed to bank enough for 8 branches. So it can't be that hard to get just the 6.

Wow, quit making posts about quitting the FS grind. Seriously, what signifigance does it apply? What did you think you were going to do when you bought SWG? An MMORPG? Have everything handed to you?

Oh and just for clarification, this isn't directed to you only, it's a general thing.

Calm down Havy, this guy has playedwayyyyyyyy longer than you. I think its sad that SOE did what it did with this publish, not only does it just make things more of a b1tch for casual gamers, but they didnt even have the balls to put it in the patch notes. It was just a sneaky conversion change, enough said. Casual gamers, especially the roleplaying ones, are the ones I feel really sorry for. They are the ones that truely give this game content, at least in some form. I'd rather have 50 funloving non-flashy roleplaying jedi, than 50 powergaming "1 pw0xz0r j00" jedi. The ones that RP are the ones that wouldnt be all flashy and starport duelists, they would be the ones hidden in the back, being either twisted and evil as a dark jedi, or kind and helpful as a light jedi. Thats just my oppinion though, take it however you want. I'm sorry this pushed a casual gamer away from his goal = /. Good luck in whatever you do bud ^^

Little boy, little boy, go back to school and learn how to spell.

To the Original Poster: I hear ya man, from what our guildies say about Jedi, it's really not all it's cracked up to be either... You start out as a novice padawan so completely gimped as to be almost gated from getting anywhere without going completely against all canon for this time period. A lot of people just have it in their heads that being a Jedi is really "all that" but from what I've seen and heard for the majority of people it is a major let down after all the work they put into it just to get there.

Anyway, Take it easy.

Okay retard, read my post, just because I've only just registered a little while ago doesn't mean I haven't been playing for longer than that. I've been playing for just under 12 months.

Well really isn't it a job for most to log in everyday. you have to do this that it justis not as fun I don't think more people wanted jedi back when launch was then now. Why maybe becouse they see one everywhere you g o now or maybe it's becouse they got nothing to accomplish anymore in the game? Me I didn't want jedi until it was only thing left really haven't done toke me 6 days now yeah it was work but it's fun going in groups but thats not for all people really just fine game you like. This game is probablly just not for you

Thanks guys for the responses.. most of them

I honestly expected to get more of a negative reaction to what I posted and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I played a lot more of the game today and I'm trying my darndest to figure out some other stuff to do. I spent a good portion of my day going out site seeing to areas I'd never bothered to check out and it was fun. The relieve of stress to grind quick and go back to the village to convert the xp is very nice. I think now my current goal is to get every dang badge I can.

I just hope that I can continue to find stuff to do that's original and exciting...

Thx guys for the support, and to the one who was unhappy about me posting - it's cool. I know that these types of threads are no fun to read through but I hope you saw my point as to why I made it. I would think most people would like to express their opinions so that's why I did it.
