Thread: My idea for a new way to unlock jedi... DEVS, PLEASE READ!!
Icad you had a great idea with the theme park unlocking, but it's a horrible idea to say that certain professions get a certain type of lightsaber. Screw that. Stop rehashing that idea. It sucks. It's much better to be able to choose what type of lightsaber you want to use and train with. Besides they aren't gonna do another revamp.
I wish they would because:
-forced timesinks are a slap in the face in any game.
-forced timesinks aren't creative, they certainly aren't immersive, they aren't dynamic. These are all things the devs said that the new path to Jedi would be. They failed on all fronts.
-the only people that are happy with this system are these angry obsessive gamers that think that no one should be a Jedi but them.
Ok, I'm not going any further with the: As much xp you have in a melee proff, that'll be the type of saber you use..
No, I'm going to go with the CHOOSE the type
One-hand streight
One-hand curved
Two-hand saber
Staff-saber (Double-Bladed lightsaber)
After you finish most of the themepark, and get initiate and finish with your training saber, you are sent on the quest to get your REAL saber.
LIGHT- cave instance on Kasshyyk
DARK- Board Imperial inquisition Vessel instance
how about to star tthis themepark you need to have been in game for alteast a year or 2 years?
or only allow people who are already FS to do it then no more new FS people after that..
Yes that is a good idea.....It will also halt new "Production" of jedi.........
Also Icad, Check your e-mail in game please....

Technically this Forum does have a Corr . . . its the same Corr for the Jedi forum . . .aka . . .Baciacca.
and actully its a bad idea . . . .
adding the comments of stopping the production of jedi and allowing the current FS people to continue turns this thread into a "no one should get Jedi after I do" thread. Which totally makes all the idea that the posters had worthless. It turns the whole thing into a whine post . . . which isn't its intent.
My suggestion . . . rather than addressing the thread to the devs . . . address it to Baciacca . . . and give him the core of the idea . . . complete details aren't really necessary and tend to make things long winded. But a simple post like
1) Many of the FS forum posters would like to see a change in the FS system to make it more quest based than it is now. We would like to see a master/apprentice relationship added as well. Things we would like to see include
2) questing for each FS skill box rather than one to open up an entire branch
3) having a time factor to hinder new " fresh off the transport" toons from getting FS . . . such as 3 months since the toon was created.
4) ect ect ect

-this system is pretty much a hyped up version of hologrinding. Instead of hologrinding though we get to village grind. yay.In closing, it doesn't matter how it was intended to be done, but the fact of the matter is... everyone that unlocks gets a quest unlocks a branch, then heads to the Dantooine MO... pickets and Bols, Pickets and bols, Pickets and Bols, pickets and bols. Or some variation of mind numbing sameness. SWG has the potential to be so much more. The CU was a much needed change. I'm very pleased with the new combat system, but that alone won't filll the servers back up.
Forced timesinks ARE bad for any game, but what else can they do?
Chances are you'd be seeing a minimum 5 new jedi a WEEK without the villiage wait, and as much as I believe anyone who works for it should have jedi, that kind of thing isn't how it should be.
There really is no option other then to make people wait, anything else just leads to way too many jedi.
Already we're seeing people who joined this year getting jedi. Most of them just grinded away XP to get to that point and have no clue about the rest of the game which helps ruin server's economies.
So until someone can come up with an idea to keep people from just grinding right away to jedi, I unfortunately have to support this system.
Look on the bright side, with the villiage wait they pretty much tell you to go and explore the game. If the game's so horrible that the only interesting thing in it is jedi why are you grinding anyhow?
Yeah the whole time I have been reading all these posts and ideas I was thinking that the chance to become a jedi and start your training should only come as a vet reward. So lets say you just hit your 1 year mark. Then a window pops up saying you know qualify for Jedi training, if you are interested in training in the force you may start your training right away. Then go see the old man and start off where your idea for unlocking starts.
So this way people actually have to play the game, play different templates, do some pvp'ing, do some crafting and other proffesions. Basically get a really good feel for the game. For the combat, crafting and other parts of the game before becoming a Jedi is even an option.
I got one more idea for a master/padawan quest..... 'ere goes!
Ok I thought up one for light jedi... The village elder has just told you and your padawan that the remains of a Trade Federation battlestation has drifted aimlessly into dathomir space. A shuttle of dark jedi have docked with it. Not only that but droids have been reactivated! If that's not enough, a imperial shuttle landed in it. You and your padawan must go aboard it in your jedi fighters, fight your way to the reactor, and escape before it blows up. Once at the control room you fight a Dark Jedi Master and his apprentice.
BTW, I like the idea about having to play for TWO years before you can start trying to get jedi. or mabe one year...
