For every time I hear of someone leaving, I hear of someone who has already left coming back.
Remember that these forums are indicitive only of the vocal minority. The majority of SWG players spend no time on these forums, learning about changes through the Launchpad announcements or via friends or PA members. We ARE a minority here.
As for spliting changes, well, they did. They changed professions individually, such as the DE changes and CH changes, they changed Jedi, and now they are changing combat.
The problem with the CU is its scope. You can't change just a little part of combat, as each change sets into motion other changes within the combat system. The only way to change something of the size of the combat system is all at once, otherwise you double the work involved as you try to change little bits without screwing up the rest of the system. It simply has to be done all at once.
And because certain crafting professions are touched by the CU (Weaponsmith and Armorsmith respectively) they too have to be included in the CU, increasing its size. There is simply no help for this. It has to be done.
Nyurra's 50/50 split is just too inaccurate, just as the forum polls are inaccurrate. SOE should just ditch the poll as it is not a good indicator of like/dislike. I don't despise the CU, I welcome it. I don't agree with everything that is being done however, so where do I stand in that 50/50 split? And what about the people who don't post to the forums?
No, sorry, but you are wrong on this. When you make changes to a base system, you have to change the entire system. No way can the CU be "split up" into smaller sizes. I saw something similar in some Beta 3 issues, and I can only imagine the problems magnified 100 fold in something as large as the CU.

The only big thing I see people saying in favor of CU is that the game was too "easy" before due to buffs/armor. There is a much simpler way to fix this: cut down armor resists and the buffs to about half power. There was no reason to totally change the game.
Easy fixes they could have done instead for a revamp:
1) armor reduction
2) buff reduction
3) increase number of weapons
4) add or remove a couple of skills
This would effectively change the combat system. Combat totally changed once 80% composite came out and 3k buffs...just take away some strength and the game is good.

Yup all the players ever asked for was some balance....no one ever said change the whole system which face it, thats exactly what they are doing....and I doubt I'll be around long enough to see what other changes they make after the CU itself.....my prediction is this will be a big clusterfukk....I hope i'm wrong and I'll give it a chance but I'm not holding my breath..

I do agree so far the changes in the CU *Combat Unbalance* does not appear to be good & I have not heard 1 positive thing that will effect me coming from this change. I am not into pvp and i don't have a jedi, groups are fun and i did miss them from when i first joined swg over a year ago now. I really do enjoy soloing missions and being forced into a group is annoying choice is what really matters. The new armor sucks and is ugly *ok not all of it*, well most of all the changes are very much visually unappealing. The first five minutes in test center i felt like i was stuck in a horrible nightmare of watching myself play WoW *world of warCRAP*. It was very disappointing other than the fewreplies to this main postI haven't even heard one positive comment about the CU other than the new weapons.
Nobody really cares about the timeline of this game because there is way too many contradictions in theentire set up so who cares if there is lots of Jedi, maybe what the game really needsis a non-jedi server for all the Jedi haters to play on. I don't have a problem with them and i do agree they should be a hell of a lot stronger ... like Hello people thinkback when you were kids, was a jedi ever supposed to be weak. No way i think not. Hell no profession should be equal to another its just common sense if you master one it would have its advantages over another. Making elite professions longer and harder to skill is definately cool but for some of us that do have a life and a job we simply don't have several hours a day to play or find a group when nobody else is on the server to actually gain some xp. There is potential in theCU butits a change that already needs an overhaul. The devs really need to hold off on the release of it andwhen it isready only make parts of the changes at a time.
I know many people that were coming back to SWG because of the CU but after seeing it have closed accounts again and are headed back to WoW.This could really decreaseSWG population and even though there as still people joining everyday more are leaving.
P.S. Hey Devs other then the stupid CU; bring some changes for crafting; more colours & choice & PINK is your friend someday i would like a jedi & she wants a PINK lightsaber.
