Thread: how to become a jedi
Actually the idea of necro posting is done to help keep "old news"...well old. But by the same token these same "veterans" tell newbies to read "old news" instead of making a new post about... you guessed it.. "old news". So its a self defeating rule about "necro posting". If it is relavent or a question you might have, then reviving an old thread is ok. I might not have many posts on this forum but i have been reading it for a while and posting on a lot of other forums (mostly EQ based). I have seem people revive old posts with a /bump and nothing else. Maybe because it is still a question for someone? Necro posting is only for the "lewt" forums in my experiance. Just my 2 credits worth.

There's nothing fundamentally "bad" about necro posting. Honestly, I think the rule came about back in the early days of the forums when posts were slipping to the next page in a matter of minutes. Seriously, you'd post, and hope someone saw it to respond within a few minutes before it disappeared. Necro posting would only make things worse by "cluttering" things up and quite frankly, confusing people.
These days the only thing you have to worry about on the forums is getting hit by a tumbleweed. I'm not sure if the mods enforce it, and people who actually complain about it (thankfully no one in this thread...everyone seems nice here) are really just being dicks.
Almost forgot...it was made worse when some people would necro posts like "NOBODY IS ABLE TO LOG IN ON ANY SERVER", a post from launch day, but it would show up 3 or 4 months after launch, basically inciting anger among people.
There's really never any need to necro, all that being said. The useful threads...guides and such...are usually stickied or bumped. Usually a thread is dead for a reason ![]()

Seeing as this is an MMORPG forum, the state of the game changes with each publish. Therefore, older information becomes obsolete over time. If anchient threads are constantly 'bumped' then the forums would be awash with misinformation and the mods would spend a lot more time locking obsolete threads. And 'mafia-man' I said bumping old threads was 'bad form' not against the rules. It is generally considered bad form to post in '1337 sp33k' but you will see no rule forbidding its use. I may not be a 'Comunity Veteran' on these boards but I've been using forums for the past 7 years and general posting etiquette applies to all of them.
Actually, I'm pretty surehereit is against the rules. I've seen the mods herethreaten banning to people who have done this in the past. Like I said, it's probably not as heavily enforced now that everyone is gone, but it's a rule nonetheless.
Strange that they would enforce a 'no 1337' policy while ignoring the people who use various methods to get around the profanity filter

Or - you can try to master all 32 professions in about 4-6 weeks.
Here's how!
Exchange your chair for a porta-potty - you can empty it during server downtime.
Buy a cooler or a portable fridge. Stock it well - you'll be eating a lot of cold meals unless you have a microwave you can put on top of it. In that case, go for the good nukeable stuff.
Quit work. Jedi don't work, why should you?
Buy plenty of Lysol and deodorizors - won't be much time for showering and personal hygeine for the next 4-6 weeks. You may want to let your neighbors know that if they smell something funny, nothing died at your place, it's just you.
Oh, on the above topic - send all of your pets to live w/ friends and family. Or something will smell funny.
Caffiene pills are an absolute must. You will not have time for sleep for the next month and a half.
If you are married, or have a relationship, break it off now - get the other half out the door, because if you don't they will leave you anyway since you don't spend time with them. Not only that, but they willend up throwing items such as bricks, hammers, and other heavy objects at your PC (and possibly you), before they leave. So get it done now.
Forget sex. At least 75% of the female characters in SWG are guys. Since you followed the above step, and since Jedi don't have relationships, then again, why should you?
Now, load up the game, and give up the rest of your life!
