You are disrespecting other players, complaining about all sorts of diffrent stuff and generally crying like a five year old.
First, you state that "afk rezzers are causing extreme lag!!!!11!1!1!!1one". What kinda comp do you have? A frigging 486 with 16MB ram? You get lag if you walk through coronet, but if you get 5 minute load times, you might consider fixing your comp before you cry about afk grinders.
Then you also throw in how you are so cool and important because you have played since day 1. Oh get over yourself. That doesn't make you special. Nor does it mean that whatever you say is correct.
AFK grinding has gone too far, yes, but the sollution is not to ban every afk grinder. The problem is with the FS grind in general. It's not content based as you claim it is. Killing hordes of mindless creatures and npcs to get 110 million weapon xp isn't content. Most people get bored with it, and so people want to find more relaxing ways of doing it.
And when it comes to medical xp; do you even KNOW how fast you cap medical xp? It has been a while since I was mdoc, but if you were to grind medical xp on buffing you would buff 10-15 people then turn it in. Going outside of aurillia even 500m would significantly increase the grind time. People standing on top of paemos is a problem, yes. Report them and shut up about it. People standing next to him or in the huts is a problem, but one created by how medical xp is capped and how the fs grind lack _real_ content.
I use macros. I do not, however, grind afk. But I have no problems with people doing it with the current state of the grind. I would prefer it if they didn't, but in the end, it's their choice. This is a MMORPG, note the two M's and the O. This means you will meet massive ammount of players. These players will play the game diffrently, some will role play more than others, some wil act more "honorable" than others, but in the end, it's their choice.
So: Stop acting like you are the king of the SWG community, respect your fellow players, respect that people play this game in diffrent ways. Fix your comp.

Here is the problem I have. AFK Buffbots are not being stopped. Heck, I see more than ever before. The Med Center tumblers are alive and well. I still see people AFK camping spawn sites for loot and xp....
I agree completely with your post. The same people crying exploit are the same ones who use afk entertainers for mind buffs, afk buffbots for doctor buffs, and afk group leaders for solo groups. They feel this method is MUCH worse than all the other afk methods combined so it gets labeled an exploit more often. They also feel jealousy towards the people doing it because deep down they would rather be doing it afk as well.
And yet this one specific AFK grind is being called an exploit, supposedly by the Devs but not only can't I find an actual Dev comment on this, when I queried the CSR in General Chat, he said they didn't deal with in game Macros. Actually he said they didn't support in game Macros, but the gist I got of his beating around the bush on the subject was that they (the CSR's) had nothing to do with it.
So, we have people saying that one specific issue of AFK grinding is being called an exploit while a dozen others are glossed over. Why? Because its used for FSXP? Does it use something outside of the standard in game Macro system?
What makes it an exploit and no other instance of afk grinding an exploit?

I think you both should go back and see the posts again, because the people expressing their opinions here are fed up with AFK players, not the use of macros. This has been stated perhaps a dozen times, and the idea remains the same: if you are using your character the way it was intended, such as entertainers playing or dancing while AFK, this isn't an issue.
If, on the other hand, you are grinding the elite profession of the entire system with an AFK macro, while exploiting a stated bug in the game system for which the CSRs have instructions to PERMANENTLY ban your character, with the intent of getting a character profession the Devs have publically stated was meant to be highly restructed and difficult to get...YOU ARE A DAMN EXPLOITER YOU N00B IDIOT!
Now then, if you would like to try this again, why don't you actually go and READ the posts about the difference between utilizing an AFK macro within the spirit of the system, and exploiting a hole in the code.
G'wan now! Shoo shoo!
To JOEF & Friends:
I agree the afk thing is out of hand, but in regards to singling out a particular one well, this IS the FS forum so it would only make sense that one would complain about people doing FS related things afk
All Afk grinding sucks and should be removed - not just this particular instance so I'm sorry if you were taking this post to mean that.
To Yterbium:
I was right there with ya on the points you were making, but now I see they are somewhat flawed. In the above post you make it pretty clear that it is ok to afk/macro for "certain" professions, but elite combat professions and Jedi should not apply. Why is it ok to macro for an elite entertainer prof
but not an elite combat prof? If it is wrong for one it is wrong for all - there can be no wavering on this - no singling out. I would have to agree with one of the previous responses to check your hardware setup because I too had extreme lag issues in Coronet and Aurillia (back when it was busy) and once I upgraded to 1G of RAM and a decent video card I can run through Coronet with little to nodelay. If you can I would strongly suggest you look into upgrading, but I digress. The real issue here is that if you are going to say afk/macroing is an exploit that's fine, you don't like it that's fine too, but to single out certain professions or instances as being ok as opposed to others completely invalidates your arguement. Supposedly the CU is going to cut out and/or cut down the efficiency of most of the common afk macro'ers we all know and love
We'll see.

Thank you for you contribution, Shensen, it is much appreciated.
To answer your question, few of us think that it is okay for one but not the other, but the fact of the matter is that the Devs designed the game with entertainers able to AFK xp but not AFK combat. That is what they have stated, and I tend to agree with them, though I also think there shouldn't be a profession that can operate AFK.
However, the situation is exacerbated extremely by this FS grind garbage, when people clearly utilizing an exploit whine, piss and moan when they start getting caught at it, and then attack real players for wanting to be able to ride into a village in the wildlands without skipping, choking and even crashing from the stacks of autopilot idiots carpeting the area.
That was my only complaint and plea in the beginning; that they move away or into a hut so I wouldn't suffer from such problems. However, my plea was answered with hostility, so now you can see the state of the thread.
But thank you for your contribution, and your concern.
Ah but you see here is where we come to the flaws inherent in the system (along with the violence inherent in the system...sorry had to get the grail reference in there hehe). You see they did indeed design the game to allow for entertainers to afk xp, but lets look at the big picture. They in fact designed the game for ANY profession to afk xp - not just entertainers, not just dancers. People have been doing afk combat (camping the npc's outside of *insert city here* to climb the skill tree ranks. Now I gather that you have been playing this game roughly as long as I have so you should know this. So to say they designed the game to allow entertainer afk xp, but not afk combat is ludicrous. Perhaps that was how they "intended" the game to be designed, but it has been this way since launch more or less so they've had ample time to correct the issue if in fact it was an issue for them. The fact that they have not corrected it regardless of how much they claim "This is an exploit, that is an exploit" only encourages people to give in to the baser instincts of taking the easy way out. They don't monitor what they should be and for the most part leave the community to their own devices which has led to a virtual Lord Of The Flies mentality in game.
I can agree about courteousness and moving the rez grinders into a hut (yes you can do it people, there are plenty doing it now), but unfortunately people aren't raised the same way anymore and you can't blame them for faulty upbringing. Many (not all) of these people feel like they can act like complete idiots and act in ways they would be ashamed of IRL, then there are others that DO act like that lol. Anyhow, we can debate the faults of human nature and child rearing, but the sad fact is that there is no way to make people courteous. This is new world of "me me me, who cares about anyone else". I care so I try to be polite and help those in need in game and here on the forums (as long as they read the stickies lol) and if someone tells me I'm doing something that is hurting their gaming experience I will try to compromise, but that's just me and I'm but one of thousands on my server....
Why we afkers do what we do?
The problem with this game is that its set up to be like a job you hate going to everyday and you are paying someone for you to do the job. This is why people afk. I would say the majority of players do not role play so dancing/musician is not fun to level up and becomes more of a chore. This is the same case with force sensitive. We dont like hunting animals endlessly just to convert and do it all over again. Its just not our style. I realize some people take this with honor and thats great. Any way to ease the suffering of the grind is admirable. With natural afkers, the only way to ease the grind is to not be there. Since the end result of jedi is the same whether you afk or not, we take the easy road. We get our sense of achievement by getting it done the fastest while others get their sense of achievement by roleplaying or doing it the honorable way. Either way, the same goal is accomplished.
How I did it?
I had two characters that needed to unlock jedi and sinceI found it was so easy, I decided to do it. In the old system, I wouldn't touch jedi. The longest part for me was getting the lines unlocked but after that it was all downhill.
First Character
Four lines of crafting / Two lines of senses
Crafting takes a little longer than Senses, but at least it can be done without using multiple characters. 0300 (Kiwik Clusjo Swirls) chef getting ~300k force sensitive experience a day. This took about 16 solid days to complete, but at least I didn't have to be there.
Senses just flew by. Using the resurrection macro, I finished those two lines in about 3 days.
Second Character
Four lines of senses / Two lines of crafting
I finally got this resurrection thing down to an art with auto buffing and consistent attacking. Used three characters to streamline the process and finished the 4 lines in under 3 days.
Crafting took about 8 days.
Conclusion
I had people sending me tells about reporting my actions when I would check the characters on and off during the day. Apparently one of their reports paid off. I was punished by getting one of my characters renamed.SOE has no reason to really punish afk players since they aren't severely disrupting the gameplay of others. Most of the time they are enhancing it with buffbots. The main point is for every afker banned, thats $15 less in the pockets of SOE and that is the priority.
I have never heard of any afk player ever getting banned and I would be surprised if it happened. I was always curious if my accounts would be banned one day since I openly support third party programs and use them extensively in game. I even come to the forums to try to help out other players (especially merchants with restocking), but almost immediately my posts are deleted and my account is banned from the forums. That never translated into banned in the game though.
My final piece of advice is to play the game as you want to play it. If you want to afk it, afk it. If you don't, don't. Easy as that.

Once again your post is both illuminated and insightful, Shensen. Normally I would agree with everything you have said, but on this one point I am forced to disagree: AFK combat was explicitely denied to players for the first six months of the game. In fact, the Devs would not even disclose the root text commands that made it possible, and numerous CSRs were terminated without a second chance from SOE over divulging such proprietary information.
Unfortunately, however, the commands did begin to leak out, as well as some of them being plumbed by genuine codehackers out there who just wanted to know, but the net affect is that the command structure got out. This was followed by a spat of accounts being banned for AFK combat grinding, some appeals that were granted, etcetera...but in the end, we wound up with people like these autopilots who don't even play the game, and for whom this is nothing more than a PvP hotshot like some fighting console game.
I hate to have to be the one to step up and say it, but I DON'T WANT THOSE PEOPLE IN MY COMMUNITY. I'm sorry if all the touchy-feely politically-correct types out there are gonna boo and hiss because I actually said what I meant, but an MMO game is meant to be a multiplauer community, and if one small cluster of players are acting like cancer cells and nerfing the game for the majority, then that cancer needs to be removed.
Other than that point, I have to say that I agree completely with your insight and opinion. Thank you very much for your contribution.
