I'd like to address both without flaming anyone.
Those of you who got it done first try were basically lucky. Either there were no other groups waiting or you got the shield down before the other groupds leaving them to wait an additional two hours. Eiether way.. a two hour wait inbetween is ridiculous. The reason this is ridiculous is because there are only 3 bases viable out of 15.
Yes.. it is "possible" to get this mission done. But to do so either you are lucky enough to not see some of the bugs or you're using droids and pets to destroy the turrets for you. Thats not "working as intended". Also, many groups have had a problem with being "ganked". In otherwords they wait their turn for 2-6 hours then some other group comes running in at the last second and lower the shield leaving the turrets and sith to be destropyed by the group that was waiting only to find out that they can't talk to the commander.
IF the Commander walked faster, or had a more reasonable poison timer, that wouldn't be happening as much. The bugged turrets can be taken out if done correctly. IE. Having plenty of healers or using the pet bug to take them out without personally dragging aggro. But thats not how it worked before CU.
Any of you that did this mission pre-cu, it was tough. But livable. Turrets had 75m range, the Commander walked at a good pace, and nearly any base was possible. These are the issues that are frustrating most of us. 1000m range on a turret is insane. Getting killed by the turret, cloning in the Science outpost only to get killed by the turret again (from 4000+ meters away) is just a blatant bug.
If you managed to finish this mission post-cu, congratulations but no need to be cockey about it either. At best you were lucky, at worst you stole someone elses spot inline.
The worst part is that this is causing players to turn on each other in some very nasty ways. I watched a pretty offensive display between a group of Rebels and a group of Imps because one group was waiting and the other just swooped in and jumped to the front of the line. I have friends that have been sitting at this base 8 or more hours a day, only to watch their efforts circumvented by another group with no consideration for others.
We're not here "complaining" in my opinion. We're here voicing our frustration that not one Red-name or Coorespondent has given us any feedback. We expect that there will be no hotfix, no bug fix, and the phase will change leaving us stranded for another 9 weeks or so. Baciacca started this thread to gather the info on what is going on. I wish he would comment further but sometimes it's better to not say anything than to feed us a line.
So I hope it gets hotfixed, but I'm not betting the farm on it. I'm hoping a Dev/Coor will give us some more info, but again.... I'm not holding my breath. These issue were discussed in detail 9 weeks ago when this phase hit right after CU, there was no comment/resolution then.. I don't expect one now. Though I would love it if this was the first time the Dev's surprised me.
Exfugginactly!!!!
Im not sure whats worse the bugged mission or the posters who seem to think we've all just up and went dumb. We know how to do the mission but bugged enviroment is preventing us from doing so. Its like someone thinks were posting OMFG I kaptured teh komndur and then pointd my dood in teh durecton ov village hit my auto walk butin but wen i gets back frum making phone calz he was gone W T F!!!!111
The mission is buggy were not making it up.
AndNO being broke is not the same thing as "making jedi harder to get" HardI can dobrokeI cant.

wetried the quest today too, failed on the many canyons on dathomir. he felt down dead before 1 hour time after we captured him. either the timer is borked or it might start when you disable the shields?

This quest is doable from the second closest base on each server. Myself, a jedi friend, a carbineer, and a rifleman were able to do it with ease.
we also used the second closest base. but each time we tried to climb up a canyon he stopped and walked back towards base. we were very carefull, watching the commander all the time what he doing, making macros to convers with him imediatly...nothing helped
3 bases
too many campers and ninja's
not everyone has access to jedi groupies
turrets kill to fast, and are bugged to shoot thru obstacles(LOS?) and great distances
are those that take this quest and do not complete it becasue it is so fouled up going to get credit and allowed to take credit for impossible conditons, thus allowing them to contiue on the FS path? are we screwed and have to take some other quest that we really dont want/need so we can get to progress?
As a full template master defender the turret does:
550 damage 10 times to me, in less than a second, and DBs me straight off.
Twice I tried it, twice I just dropped dead.
I have over 800 defense with aura, and I had valor running as well. The turrets just don't follow any rules, and are instant death as soon as they agro you.
Four attempts now, Four failures.
Once only got about 1k distance before he died......
Then, got about 500m before he died...
Then, 700m from the village, he croaks...
And this last time, 1.4k from village, and he keels over.
I'm not wasting time. I grab the commander and GO, I pick nice paths, and rarely get him stuck anymore.
But that's just it.....these attempts are from the third closest base on Bria (Tau). Mainy because I don't have 10 hours to sit at the closest base. I have a job, a family, etc.
It's idiotic that there's only really two viable bases per server to accomplish this. It's further idiotic that NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT.
I played this game for quite a while, left in disgust, and came back. I'm real close to leaving again, nothng has changed....specifically:
THE GAME IS BROKEN AND SOE WON'T DO A DAMN THING ABOUT IT.
I'm paying for a total waste of my time. The very least they could do is a hot-fix, especially considering that countless people are getting ruthlessly screwed this phase by this joke of a "quest".
no joke, or childish, hollow threat: If I miss my unlock because of this quest, as a result of NO attempt by SOE to fix it before the phase is over, I'm outta here. If they know that this quest is this badly bugged, and that there are this many people needing to complete it, and still do nothing, then I want nothing to do with SOE or SWG, and their totally blatant disregard for their customers.

I completed this quest today 1st time through with just 1 other person at the IOTA base on Ahazi at 3456, -1258.
If you get too close to the turrets they start firing on you. Run in the opposite direction till your 100m or moreaway from them and they stop firing. My partner was a master rifleman and he was able to fire a couple of shot at the turrets individually, run back to heal up then go back in for another round of attacks until the front 2 turrets were down.
With both turrets down, I dropped the shields and he destroyed the gate. Swarms of sith came out atabout 5 at a time. I stood off to the side and pulled them to me then dealt with them. Mobs in the area seems to aggro them as well. When I killed 5 and completed my part of the mission, my partner ranin whileI distracted the sith at the gateand got the commander. He lead the commander off while I ran from the remaining sith in the opposite direction until I lost them.
We both walkedthe commanderabout 3.5k meters to the village over as little mountainous terrain as possible. Any sith that came to free him, I handled. I've heard that you have approx 1 hour to get him back beforehe takes the poison. We made itback to the village in justunder an hour I think.
This is mission is doable with a powerful rifleman conducting a series of hit n' run strikes on each turretor aprobot droid and picking a base that is no more 3.5k away from the village.
