Thread: TC Conversion Rate Change
it typically takes me 4-5 hours of combat to get 200K FS XP. with this change I will get only 110K FS XP which means I have gone from 13 days to 26 days. drives me nuts. I am a casual gamer that has been here since day one and this is frustrating.
what ever happened to the saying we heard when growing up "you can't change the rules in the middle of the game." Can't wait to see when Major League Baseball awards the Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, Angels and Cardinals only half a run when someone scores.
Would love to here the reasoning from a Dev why this is happening.
Well, this should keep the jedi population down ![]()
Good job I banked all my xp nade grinding with my guild during double xp week! 2 days for 6 branches ![]()

I am usually pretty quiet about the FS grind. I understand that this is supposed to be a "long" process that requires patience. I just passed 6 months in the game, and with 3 full branches still left to train, with a 30:1 converstion on all my xp gains, this will take me another 6 months to complete.
To change the rules for us in the middle of the game when sooo many were not subject to the same is completely unfair to those of us left. If this change goes through, I will cancel my 4 accounts and go elsewhere.
But EQ2 is also owned by SOE isn't it? Hit em where it hurts! Play WoW! ![]()

Sorry for the misread. You know how you read something and you just see the main parts without the small details. It was an honest mistake
I love the way loads of people come into this thread, give us their opinion and then at the end tell us that they have already finished their grind or are already jedi. Makes the rest of us feel so much better ![]()
Seriously though, this does appear to be a somewhat short-sighted approach to the problem of people attaining jedi too quickly/easily.
There are numerous alternative methods to this planned one, although they too have their own inherent problems. Fundamentally SOE is in the business of making money, so really they want a system that will keep you playing (and paying) whilst not alienating sections of the player base. Changing xp conversion rates is not the answer. As I see it, and I could be wrong, its the grenade grind that this is designed to hit but the wider implications do not seem to have been considered.
There is already a time gate in place of approx 16 weeks for a brand new player to become a jedibut is this really enough? Probably, but this time gate is exaggerated by the fact that u can become Force Sensitive within a couple of days of starting. Maybe this is where the real problem lies? Should you be able to become FS that quickly or is it this part that should be gated? Maybe having to be a Master Elite profession for a fixed minimum amount of time will stagger this apparent cascade of new jedi?
Changing the xp type awarded for using grenades should not be that hard to do? They've changed xp types before but only by getting rid totally, eg slicing, spice crafting, squad leader. Im no coder but surely its just a matter of changing a variable or something???? The Heavy Weapons allocation would seem most appropriate both in terms of people trying to attain Commando, and existing Commando's on their own FS grind.
I know that I have been playing since Euro release but have never actively pursued becoming a jedi until recently. I class myself as a reasonably casual gamer and I totally resent the fact that (a) I could about to be penalised for taking my time with the FS xp thing and (b) that anyone should feel they can suggest casual gamers should not be jedi or are in some way not up to it.
We need official confirmation on this issue sooner rather than later. Too many times in this game the developers have made knee-jerk reactions to situations seemingly "created" by the power-gaming community. If people have the time and dedication to powergame then good luck to ya, I just wish SOE wouldnt keep reacting to your playstyle by hurting the rest of us.

I couldn't agree more. The selfish "I don't care if they make it harder as long as it doesn't affect me" crowd are part of the problem, certainly not the solution.
Seriously though, this does appear to be a somewhat short-sighted approach to the problem of people attaining jedi too quickly/easily. When you consider that in the TV ads for SWG, a Jedi appears in almost every screen scene, and when a new player does the tutorial, they see a Jedi right before hitting Mos Eisley, and *then* get "clues" about their "potential" from the new player quest NPC (Jyrra?), the idea of making it slower to get to Padawan by changing the XP conversion rate is a bandaid on an amputation. New players are indoctrinated with the idea that Jedi is the end-game.

Fundamentally SOE is in the business of making money, so really they want a system that will keep you playing (and paying) whilst not alienating sections of the player base. What's sad is that by adding content - things to *do* for all professions - it would be more likely they keep players paying and playing. There are so many "broken" professions right now, and SOE has decided to make it harder to gain FS XP. Some real smarts there. Changing xp conversion rates is not the answer. As I see it, and I could be wrong, its the grenade grind that this is designed to hit but the wider implications do not seem to have been considered.

I could understand why the casual gamer would be upset about a possible xp change (I am one). But do you really think nothing should be done about the JEDI population? Or is it that you have a problem that their idea of population control will include you?
I’m speaking to those of us "casual gamers" playing for a long time. IT’S BEEN LONG ENOUGH! . If you were going to get it, then you should have gotten JEDI by now.
When a new gamer is making laps around you its time to put up the shoes. JEDI should be for those who are willing to "in some way" make this game a priority to them. Some sort of sacrifice. I know it's just a game. It's a game with multiple class options..Not just Jedi
The vast majority thinks something must be done about JEDI overcrowding. SOE is on the same page (or they should be). You’ve had plenty of time to get it by now. They even gave you multiple x2 weeks of double XP’s and the ability to change your template to use the system to your advantage.
People who think the rules should never change are (in my opinion) dead wrong. If this game is going tosurvive it needs to adjust to whatever changes are necessary. And the idea that SOE is in it for the money....Um No SH@T Sherlock..... It’s a business.
JEDI is a class that should be hard to get. It should be a class that makes people "not" want to do it. If you have not done it yet....maybe that should answer some questions.
