Thread: All the noobie whining proves the devs did the right thing.

I guess I was wrong about complaining not affecting the game changes.
Read This.
I doubut it was complaints that did it, I don't think the DEVS even read the forums, but you better believe they watch cancellations..lol

Hey guess what! if they do that, people who play SWG will be rare, what is up w/ all the hating on other players, I say let everyone have their fun, fun what video games used to be about....
BTW um, dont hate on FS people, finishing the village takes most people 15 weeks or more, and u aren't even a damn jedi after that! So dont make the FS grind harder, make the Jedi boxes have a higher XP req.....and then u can go back to the old XP amounts.....CU made groups more necessary and effective, SOE just realized that people helping each other makes things go faster? and people learn more quickly??? duh....maybe u fools shouldn't have done the CU in the first place if now u are upset w/ how good everyone is in groups...
'Do you accept Cash??? Chaching!!!!' it's always about the money w/ Sony you should all know that! p.s. dont buy PS3 hehe
You say let everyone have fun but yet you criticise him for him wanting to have fun... heh hypocrite
what is with all the noobie hating from ya nachodewi? as has been pointed out from people before, you were also a noob in this game once! why hate others because they joined this game later than you? seems kinda pointless...
but why should somebody be forced to play the game for 3-6 months, as some players have suggested, just to start a grind that takes 3-6 months? ok, i can understand that people whove only just started arent really at a high enough cl to survive in the village without help, but that doesnt mean they should be prevented from going there if thats what they want!
i think when they say that what they mean is raising the conversion rates and reducing xp arent going to stop people from wanting to become jedi, so isnt going to reduce the jedi population at all... simply slow the rate at which new players become jedi! they arent saying the devs should do nothing, simply that another solution - such as making other professions more attractive - may be a better way of accomplishing this!
I've unlocked 7 trees at the village now, but I'm doing the xp grind...so that will take me a while. I dont mind, as to me the Jedi prof is the final endgame of my toon, before I start another grind with my alt.
I can relate to whats being said about guys stepping off the transport and asking "how do I get jedi" as I learned a lot about the game before I even started down that route.
Having said that, a lot of the new guys are going ask that as its what *most* players want eventually.
I do agree with the opinion that the new guys should be slowed down a bit rather than chase the grind as soon as they land, but really what content is there in most professions? I dont know if they are really content chasers thinking that Jedi has a lot of it, or they're just after the jedi tag so they can be l33t...
Honestly I think rather than change anything about the grind to jedi, the devs should be looking at adding more content for all the other professions..that in itself would give the newer players something to do other than get into an almost endless grind as soon as they start the game.
In think we all understand that new players are what keeps the game alive, old players leave and new players fill the void..I just think they (and we) should have more content that is not jedi related.
This is not a flame, just an expression of opinion.
Ok, I believe this is my first post, so bear with me. I've been playing this game since the beginning, but didn't start trying for Jedi till after everything had been switched over to the village. I think that SOE made a mistake setting this game during the GCW. I know that all the main characters everyone knows and loves(i.e. Luke, Han, Leia, etc.)were present during the CW, but there was also no Jedi present. Let's be honest here, they had to be able to predict that a HUGE percentage of the players would want to be Jedi's. Why not set it in a time period where the Jedi were beginning to come back? Not to mention the fact that we already KNOW what happens after the first Death Star is destroyed. It's all there in beautiful color from the movies. They should have set this 5-10 years after the Battle of Endor. They could have made up any storyline they wanted, there is no true Canon for that time period. There could have been Jedi all over the damn place, and who is going to complain? We could have created a whole new direction for the Star Wars Saga, something built by and completed by the players of the game. I haven't played it, butI know thatthis is what was done with The Matrix Online. Itstarts after the end of the last movie and goes on to tell what happens next.
Ok, I realize this isn't exactly the best reply to the topic on hand. What I originally was going to say was that the Dev's are going to try and figure out something to do that makes the FS/Jedi quest more difficult. They are going to try and satisfy all the people who are complaining about Jedi running all over the place have duels in spaceports, blah blah blah. But they are going to fail everytime, because whenever they nerf the Jedi, then all the Jedi are going to scream. It's a no win situation. Either the non-Jedi's are bitching, or then the Jedi's are bitching. They got themselves into this mess by setting the time period when they did. I don't think the XPconversion deal was all that bad, although it DID come as a shock that first time I got back to the village and my 3:1 rate was gone. " What thebloody hell???" Not much of a warning there, eh? However, these guys arenot evil, greedyfools trying to steal your money and make your game suck. They are just regular humans making mistakes and trying to compensate for that ONE BIG mistake made in the beginning.....Creating a game with Jedi in that is set in a time period where Jedi aren't suppossed to exist. I'll shut up now.
Take away the 2nd character slots. ALL of them.Make people paythe xtra $15 a month for any type of alt. That'll get rid of a buncha jedi and wannabe jedis. That's a big part of the motivation. Problem solved!
Of course other problems would arise....

1. I think they wanted to keep the Empire under the Emperor instead of having them be the remnant they'd be 5-10 years after Endor. That would put them well past Grand Admiral Thrawn and the rest, to the point the Empire is nearly non-existant. That would mean the Light Jedi would fight...Yuzaan Vong (sp?) Jedi? LOL.
2. Setting the game outside where it is now would do nothing to silence the people that whine about jedi dueling in star ports IMHO...

Because its so easy to become glowie we have a flood of worthless noobs or lazy people flooding the board about making the village easier. Make getting to the village harder and you silence a lot of the whiners because they will go for other professions instead. Also we have a huge over population of Jedi so something has to be done.
I am also sick of the retards who start their whine by saying" I know some thing needs to be done to control the Jedi population but this is the wrong way to go about this" what the really mean is the devs should do nothing.
Well then I guess I'm a retard then. Nerfing the grenade XP is a band aid fix, not a solution to the jedi population problem. The devs need to rework the system and come up with something better, (i.e. quests, etc).
Funny, I somehow don't think that means I'm saying "the devs should do nothing" but hey, people interpret things all sorts of ways nowadays...
The Dev's aren't the problem. The Dev's dont post guides to getting glowy. I'm not sure what the definition of "noob" is anymore the way everyone keeps throwing it out there, but for new players Cl1, just logging into SWG for the first time. They CANNOT get glowie in 1 day. If they do, then they got help from someone else in the game who is NOTa noob. If you want to blame someone, blame the people who post the guides/walkthroughs. Blame the veterans that show the new players how to navigate through the warren, or better yet the ones that escort them through the warrens. Someone talked about the old "mystery" of becoming a Jedi. When someone discovered it, why didn't people flame the person that posted the guide, or the people that validated and updated the guide? The dev's didn't post it.

Now devs please do something about noobs making Glowie in one day.
you know, you were a noob as well once. just because you are jelous of others, doesn't mean you have to flame them as you did in other threads.
at least write a constructive post, as some others did in this thread, then i can accept what you are trying to accomplish here. otherwise, go parachuting without a parachute, that sounds like a better help for our community, thank you.
ok, ill do it for him since i agree.
not only me, but a lot of other vets and noobs both think that getting to the village is too easy. i believe they should require more content badges, more location badges, and1 more profession badges (must be elite prof). now, by doing this, not only does this give noobs more experience of the game, but also more prepared for the village. they are more ready to take on the sith, and more that waits in the village. also, this lets them experience the game more before moving onto the almost constant grind they are going to do, since they just want jedi. under the current system, all a lot of noobs see if jedi. they get into the village and grind all the time, but do nothing else. they dont know of the geo caves, the vette, much of kash, space, dwb, etc... forcing the noob players to experience the game can only do good

My problem is the fools suggesting quest based system are suggesting that for only one reason. They think it will be easier. If the devs put in a quest based system that's gated and can only be completed in 12 months then watch those same people start screaming all over again.
Stereotypical drivel...
I don't want ANY change to be easier, I would like to see it more interesting however...
