I won one of these babies buy maxing Phase 2: Overall Quantity of Ingediants on Bloodfin:

I see no indication that "Critical success" is guaranteed by this item. I believe that 'Critical Failure' is automatically avoided for the first 20 crafts. The value of this is indeed minimal: you are going for the best sabre you can make, not seeking to avoid the modest loss of resources from a critical failure.

We were promised a prize. No one said it was a useful prize.

Where are you getting this information on "critical success" results?

I've made literally thousands of layers, segments, and armor schematics, and I've never seen a "critical success" in the results screen post-assembly. Most long-time armorsmiths acknowledge that there is a bug that allows the crafter to slightly exceed the normal hard caps on resources (usually for me an extra percentage point or two on base effectiveness), but I've never seen it called anything other than a bug.

I'm not disputing that such assemblies happen, I've just never heard of them being related to anything other than a bug.

I've seen critical successes in weapon crafting. Well, one anyway. And I didn't just go over resource caps on the weapon by a couple of percent, it was closer to 10-12 percent. It was on an unstocked DXR6b. The difference between the critical assembly and the great or amazing assemblies was a good bit.
