Your problem is that the Phase 3 S&D is Ranged Defense, which isn't in the Combat Prowess chain, it's in Enhanced Reflexes.

Jedi Initiate/Padawan/Knight take 0 sp. Jedi skills (saber/enhancer/defender etc) take 8 at novice, 8 for lvl 1, 6 for lvl 2, 4 for lvl 3, 2 for lvl 4, and 1 for mastery. You have the same 250sp as always, and you can keep your mundane skills until you drop them to train a jedi box. You can absolutely do a mixed template. www.padawan.org has a character builder.

thanks! that site really helps. Now i just wish i had more skill points to use *sigh*. Oh well, good thing ive got a few months to decide....

Here's a /bump for you for this awsome guide 
Now my question is I used my free unlocks for Melee Speed and luck do i get the reward for it or do I have too wait for the phases to do that particular quest?

You don't get the reward when you unlock, but you do if you do the quest (in fact, if you do the quest for something you've already unlocked, the reward is all you get)
