Thread: What is it with players not wanting to WORK for it...?
Well I'm done with the village (finished this cycle) - but just wanted to make a distinction.
To me there's a big difference between working for jedi/FS (grinding out the XP, doing the quests) vs. the forced time sink of the village phases.
I think the current xp load to complete the village is fine. I ground out most of it during the last dbl xp which is probably too quick (and was actually 4X xp since you got dbl for the kill and then it converted at dbl the normal conversion rate).
I hate the forced waiting within some of the village quests and the forced waiting between phases. If someone does the workthey should be able to reap the rewards without all of the waiting.
Just my opinion. We play the game to have fun. Building XP toward a goal is accomplishing something. Waiting around for day/weeks is just boring.
You are missing the point behind the phases. SOE made the phases 3 weeks long so that everyone playing the game would have a chance to complete the missions. Just because you can get the quest done in the first couple days doesn't mean everyone can.

Come on now, surely you're not suggesting that this is new?
I played from the start and then took a break and now I'm back, and as far as I've seen, this is the most common attitude among players. And it's in noooo way limited to the Jedi. I'd estimate that about 50% of all threads on these forums are complaints about being "forced" to do something in order to get something.
"Why do I have to shoot at stuff to get better at rifle?!"
"It's stupid that I need to craft to become a master crafter!!!!!"
"Why isn't every day a re-spec day?!"
"I logged in for the first time and I have NO master slots! I want my money back!!!!"
On some level, I can understand the complaints about the grind for fs and jedi. The first time you look at how much force sensitive xp is required for one tree and then calculate how much xp you'll need and how many trips you'll be making to the village, it's more than a little daunting. And somewhere in the back of everyone's mind, I'm sure there's been a little voice that says, "You've got to be kidding me!" lol But, as far as I'm concerned, the system in place works pretty well.
Personally I've had a ton of fun exploring and enjoying the game since I started last year. Jedi has been and (for the moment) shall stay tucked away until I decide I'm done with what I'm doing now and nothing else interests me. Of course, knowing I still have to finish the phase 3 and 4 quests before I can even think about jedi helps this attitude of mine. lol For all I know, as soon as I complete the phase 4 quest I may go far enough to unlock my alt and stop there, who knows? Depends on what I want to do ![]()
As far as the wait and grind goes, though, maybe the devs put them in to represent the patience (learning to wait for the phase changes/waiting to complete village quests) and dedication (DEFINTELY the xp grind) needed to become a jedi that's been put forth in the books and films. Besides, if it took most jedi 17-18 years to progress to the point of taking the trials to become a Knight, I think we can wait a bit between phases. ![]()
The thing is no one has to grind. You can play the PVE game a your own pace and slowly get exp and items and over time you WILL unlock in any combat template.
I flat out hate grinding I did not like "solo grouping" for cash when it was around either. I am nowhere near the fastest person to unlock yet I did and I had fun doing it rather then grinding.
As for the quests yes they are annoying. It is frustrating beyond words to have to not walk but crawl 2km or more AFTER the big fight to get a reward. Make the fight tougher and get rid of the walk this is Star Wars not Worm Crawl. NPC should be able to get in a speeder (at blaster point if nessasary)
