My buddy and I were like .. O M F G when we got through the gate and it said we completed the mission.. I belive we had 4 mins left due to screwing up and walking in avoidable ditches..
When we got to the mist wall I was literally on the edge of my seat thinking to myself "If that bas**** dies now.. Im gonna go kill the guys at SOE that came up with that idea"
Needless to say.. we finished it.. I built a shrine for my sunriders crystal and mind buff crystal out of torches/free standing lamps/sith ores

almost the same for me when I went to finally get my crystals...group of 5 of us went, and pretty much the same scenario. The hardest part actually was actually listening to my impatient partner who kept telling me to run and leave the commander. ![]()
Anyways to stay on topic, sorry CuteJedi (original poster) I'd agree with most in here, this is not supposed to be easy and why should it...I mean with enough smarts and a good group whether they are friendsor not you can be successful. (I'm a level 66, MRifles and was able to help some) Best advice that has been mentioned - is to make sure u keep the commander following you with the radial menu selection follow me constantly.
Have one or two people go out and 1) draw the aggroes away. 2) and the other find the best path to take, even with hills you can find a path sometimes.

I did this quest twice, on two of my toons this phase. It's not easy, and I failed the first few times but here are some tips for you.
1. TAKE OUT TURRETS BEFORE TAKING SHIELDS DOWN. You can do this with any ranged profession (so long as you can heal). We did it with a Jedi using saber throw and healing himself. The reason to do this is your hour for escourt starts the minute you take the shields down, ALSO, if you die, you will not complete the mission, there simply isn't enough time to regroup, rebuff and return to the base and have enough time for the escourt. But if the shields are still up than that time hasn't started to elapse. I have heard that the turrets won't shoot droids, though not tested it myself you may want to pick yourself up a droid to shoot down the turrets.
2. after taking out both front turrets you then take down the shields and run up to the gate and take it down quick and then take out the last turret.
3.after all turrets are done you will need to deal with a bunch of sith, you need to kill at least 5 before the commander spawns, but keep killing them till he does, you will then go "Capture" him and ask him to "Follow you".
4. Whoever captures the sith (should not be the same person that took down shields if you do this as a group) should begin escourting, you have roughly 1 hour to get him back to the base, this hour starts when you take down the shields, but **MAY** be shortened if the commander escapes from your custody. When I did this quest both times I would walk about 50m and then just do a "~2" to which tells him to follow you again (Keep him targeted if you intend to use this). If you are the one escourting DO NOT STOP TO FIGHT THE SITH SPAWNS (OR ANYTHING ELSE). Your job is to get him to the village, this quest requires team work, if you don't walk right through a mob of rancors you can go all the way to the village with out aggroing anything else except the sith spawns which pop out every 500m or so.
This is argueably the hardest quest in the village, but the reward (and skill unlocked) is worth the effort put into it. It takes alot of patience and it is certainly best to do this in a group. (In fact, consider that a requirement)
You people who all say you got it first try... you forget to mention you read my FAQ for this phase... jeeze
I completed this mission on the first try... because I read Kuval's FAQ! Thank you Kuval!
(And a later post inspired me enough to give a path from the second base.)
