I hear this every time I say I am a casual player who wants to play a Jedi. Well, be glad that this is one casual player who will be playing a Jedi. Here's what needs to be understood about me. I don't care one bit how long or hard the Jedi grind is. I realise how long and difficult it is. I'm not a new player who just joined the game and wants a Jedi NOW! I'm grinding to become a Jedi, but once I get there, I will no longer be grinding. I will be enjoying the game playing a Jedi. I don't care how long it takes me to get to Knight, if I ever get there. I just want to play a Jedi.
As for KOTOR or Jedi Academy, I want to play a Jedi character of my own creation, in a Role Playing game with other players. I don't want to play a pre-packaged Jedi in a FPS or scripted game.
And when I say "play a Jedi", I mean I will be RPing a Jedi, which means only a select few would even know I am a Jedi. No title, and no using saber or powers in public. I don't think you have to be worried about "50 casual Jedi running around cnet". Casual players can play smart, too. (I really hate the attitude of some power-gamers who think just because they have so much time to play that they own the game and are somehow better than "casual" players, who couldn't possibly know anything, despite having played the game since Day 1.)
I would have played this game even if Jedi weren't a part of it. My first character was a Smuggler (great choice there, though he will always be a Smuggler). However, Jedi are part of the game, and should be available to everyone. This means there will eventually be a lot of Jedi in the game. Big deal. It's not going along with the "official" timeline of Star Wars, but guess what? This is a game BASED on the Star Wars Universe. It left the "official" story line the minute actual people joined the game. I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, ever since I saw the original Episode IV in the theatre when it was first released (when Han shot first).
As for many Jedi ruining PvP, not everyone who is going for Jedi wants one so they can be uber in PvP. Some actually want to just role-play a Jedi. I hope to participate in PvP with my characters (Jedi or not) as little as possible. It's just not my thing.
The point of all this rambling is still that everyone should be entitled to a Jedi and that the system shouldn't (and doesn't have to) cater to one style of play over another to achieve. With some thought, a reasonable method could have been made. Once it was determined that Jedi would be a part of the game, there was always going to eventually be many Jedi playing, so forget trying to control the numbers and make it fun.

That's for sure. I'm finally finishing off the last box of my second crafting column (which will give me six columns) and it's been a real pain. Couldn't get anywhere during Phase 4, constantly running out of materials, takes hours to get even one box, etc.
At least the end is in sight for me. I can't imagine trying to grind 12 crafting columns.
Good luck!

Here's a thought. Has anyone considered what is going to happen with the Combat Upgrade changes? I think everyone knows that buff's are going to be nerfed to a certain extent... How's this going to effect the grind to make jedi? I'm guessing that it's going to make the grind a lot longer. Along with every other profession.
It will for sure esp if they nerf nades into heavy weapons xp.

The Commando Correspondent said this was just a rumor. Hopefully this means it's really justa rumor and not going to happen.
I think the Combat Upgrade will affect how much XP can be gained. Lower buffs and balanced combat professions will make tougher creatures tough once again, so they can't be farmed for XP like they are now. Once this change happens, the conversion ratios should be modified to match.

Sorry, yes it was $75 per 100,000 FS XP. Fingers a little too fast and eyes not so much.

I don't mind the 30:1 ratio what so ever.
Questions:
How much time do you get in-game?
Are you able to get the XP for an entire branch during the 3-week phase?
Problem is, many players don't get as much time in-game and cannot get that XP as fast. However, everyone is entitled to the same things in the game, but casual players are punished by an insane conversion rate.

Even I would say that would be a bit too easy. In fact, when the Village was originally on TC, the ratio for Weapons/Combat XP was 10:1/1:1 and that may have been too easy. A ratio of about 20:1/2:1 would be just about right. That would give 90k FS XP for a fully capped 900k/90k instead of 60k FS XP. That cuts the grind down by a third, which would help the casual players immensely and wouldn't impact the powergrinders at all except they would be finished with one branch's worth of XP quicker and so have to wait for the phase change a bit longer after they're done (during which they could do other things in-game, so no big problem there).

chekson wrote:I agree fully. I finished the FS village using the 30 : 1 ratio. I didnt find it hard at all. Wanna see hard wait till you attack at the speed of a novice brawler and then once you get alot of XP for some odd reason you get vis. and a BH kills you and you lose it all. Im a few weeks away from master sabers now and all i can say is keep on grinding. The rewards that come afterward are awesome.. Defence stackers are gonna get hit with the nerf stick soon enough with the combat upgrade and jedi will be elite once again!
You finished at 30:1 already, which means you must have had free unlocks. XP you didn't have to grind. Even 1 branch filled without grinding makes a big difference.

You're watching the wrong movies. This is based on Episode IV times when Jedi are scarce. Of course, as I've said before, the game is based in the Star Wars Univers, so it doesn't specifically follow the movies. It stopped doing that the minute a real person logged in and started making their own decisions on what to do.
