Thread: Why Do Jedi only get to Use Lightsabers?

I don't see the problem with any player using a lightsaber... I have never had the skill to use a flamethower properly, but I have fired one, I fired lightning cannons... infact I have never had a ranged skill but I have fired lots of ranged weapons BADLY!!!
So why can't you use lightsabers BADLY... It would also make a nice trade item for Jedi's to sell. I have just unlock jedi and will soon craft my first lightsabre (For me).
People decorate their houses with all kind of weapons so why not lightsabres?
Just think they could be used (Well held and waved around) by anyone, but only made by Jedi's (Maybe they could even randomly wound non-jedi who try to use them?
Anyway no need to flame anyone who has a question.. (Its not the Jedi way)
Agreed.
Corran Horn used his to open locked doors, Han used Luke's to open up a Taun-taun. Yeah but they were Force Sensitive.
Guess what. I'm Force Sensitive, too. And I just want to use it to open locked and mag-seal containers. That's all. Is that too much to ask? Come on, it'd be fun!
Why didn't Luke use his lightsaber to get out of the Death Star's trash compactor? n00b. ![]()

#1: Lightsabers are meant to be a weapon only usable with great skill because you're essentially fighting with a glorified flashlight - the "blade" has little to no mass as it radiates energy, thus not making it solid matter, making the weapon more clumsy to handle than a solid blade.
Incorrect, in many books and other Star Wars things a7 year old could fight a training duel ONE-HANDED with a regular lightsaber NOT a training lightsaber.

Not entirely true. Lucas estimated the lightsaber to "weigh" 40 punds or so because of the physics involved in swinging an object made of pure energy through the air (electromagnetic repulsion, etc). Hammill and Prowse were instructed to act as if the sabers weighed a great deal and, when Darth swung his one-handed, it was ment to indicate that he was uber. Holding a saber two-handed was supposed to be the preferred method given the tremendous energy you were trying to control. Supposedly, only with the Force could you hope to wield the weapon effectively.
Any "non-movie" character holding a saber was a rare breed. If the devs want sabers to be equippable, that's fine, but it should be realistic. If you hold one and try to turn it on, you should have a 999 in 1,000 chance that you kill yourself. Much of like a chainsaw through a tree, the saber is supposed to have a tremendous amount of "torque" and anyone holding it w/o training will likely kill themselves before having a chance to get used to it...
on topic. i do think they should give bounty hunters lightsaber trophies when they complete the mission. with different hilts depending on the jedis skill level. ofcourse the hilts wouldnt be equipable or useable, just something to display as a trophy.
To answer this YES... I would not be comfortable but I'm sure I could squeze into a set of wookie armour, and if composite armour was made in XXXXXL then maybe a wookie could squeze into it... This does not mean that it would work too well for them though.
Next stupid coment:
this post has to be the most retarded post ever..1. jedi can only use sabers because if u remember tbey go through training with them so they dont disect themselfs..... 2.u have to be force sensitive to use one and even if u weren't u wouldn't be able to use any of the specials etc... 3.if u want a lightsaber so bloody bad go earn 1...become a jedi...
Firstly you need to be more than just force sencitive to use one, I'm sure that if you picked up a sword you would be able to keep hold of all you fingers and therefore I wouldn't think holding a LS would make your limbs just fall off? I am becoming a Jedi, and will soon be able to use a LS, but... that isn't the issue being discused here.
There are some people who would like to have a LS to show off with... they do not want to be skill in the use of one, but would like to show their friends that they have one. Maybe it could cause wounds if they tried to fight with it. Who cares, as was mentioned Han Solo used Lukes LS to open a TonTon in Empire strikes back and didn't turn himself into a limbless torso?!? So why can't a Non-jedi player just spark one up to show off with, or hang up in his house? In episode 2 a whole bunch of children (Who I assume were force sencitive/initiates) where wearing robes and practacing with LS under Yoda's supervission, but his is all irelivant if you just want to hang one on your wall with some other nice weapons.
And Finaly a GOOD comment:

Would it not be a good idea for a BH to be able to loot a LS from dead Jedi, not nice the the Jedi to loose it, but in all films when the jedi dies all that remains is the robe and LS. These Items would make nice orniments in a Guild Hall or a Jedi/Sith temple. Maybe a trophie of a robe&LS could be looted as an item on its own, like a picture. You could then hang this on a wall and it could have the name of the dead jedi on it with maybe a time and date.
These are all ideas and I have no time for those who just flame without valid reason... and the N00B who started with : this post has to be the most retarded post ever.. and then created a double post as well.. no time for you m8, all opinion with no real thoughts...
