Well, a Jedi IS a combat profession. Makes sense to be an easier transition from a combat prof to a combat prof.

Jedi is not a fighting profession, Jedi is a religion a cult and many other things. Soe made jedi a mercenary, but saying the FS skills are jedi skills are like saying Scout are bounty hunter skills.

Soe put in force sensitive skills to the game even non fighting skills like crafting, survey, persuation and luck or even survival and vehicle control all things that have absolutely nothing to do with fighting to do. What people pick for skills are part of shaping the final outcome of what the character is like.

There is no rule that say a jedi have to be master lightsaber to become a jedi, there is only players that think they have to otherwise they get killed to easy by other people of simular mindset as them.

If you still think jedi is a fighting profession then i hope you will not complain the day jedi loses the healing tree and enchancement tree cause you said it yourself didnt you, jedi is a fighting profession, they are not enchancers or doctors.

there is no doubt about it the FS skills and village is highly unbalanced when it comes to time requirement for the different professions to be able to fill a branch, A crafter have to spend close to 25 million resources for his FS tree if they have to buy this a 5 CPU on average thats 125 million credits, if a fighter had to spend the same amount of credits in armor weapons, and food stuffs/buffs to be able to fill 4 of the 6 branches on their path to become jedi it would be a riot.

And when i have filled my 6 branches of skills and the old man arrives again, what prevents me from turning him down and say NO i dont want to be a jedi? why does he even bother to ask, if the FS skills are already jedi skills.

Jedi is a religion, looking at the movies half the galaxy even think jedi is just superstition and children tales, even more do not belive there is a force that controlling everything around them, IE Han solo when they first met him.

The jedi council was the protectors of the old republic, they had many agendas and areas of expertice, many where skilled advisors and negotiators, even more where diplomats they used the force in defence only and allways as the last resort.

but your right in one thing, in SWG jedi is nothing but a fight club consisting the worst bullies of the galaxy, but soe didnt make it this way, you players did. But granted soe put in quite an effort to shape you all in to that thinking by giving the game this very little thought out force sensitive village, while the old way generated player that had to at least experience the sides of many professions to become a jedi helping the players to at least have an understanding of what each profession is about, how hard it can be, the new way have opened up jedi for the traditional combat monkey that does not know or understand anything about SWG but the three combat professions he grinded up so he or she could be a jedi.

Enhancing your crafting, etc. was not part of the original plan for the village. The village was put in place because the hologrinding was quite pointless. I have nothing against using the force to enhance your skills, but you're using the FS skills outside of their purpose, so it's going to be hard on you. I have nothing against using it, which I'll do with my armorsmith, but the village was designed more or less for the combatant players to get to jedi. They only put in the crafting so they didn't leave anyone out really. If you look at it, no crafter could finish that exit quest on his own and would be helpless.

I don't think the crafters should be complaining because you really have to look at the big picture with what was intended. Just my 2 cents.

If enhancing your crafting was not in the original plan for the village...then why is it there now?

I simply cant believe that you actually believe what your saying...it is simply too asinine. FS skills and their corresponding modifiers being available in the game is a defacto statement that they should indeed be used.

The villiage is not designed specifically or exclusivly for combat types. It is designed for all characters whom have achieved Force Sensitivity regardless of their chosen profession. That the XP requirement has been so slanted is more of a function of rushed and or poorly planned implementation. I suspect that the C12 grenade FS grind was an unanticipated grinding method when the xp requirements were first thought up...I suspect that they will change grenade xp in the near future from purely combat xpto something else. (I hope they dont but they likely will)

The intention of the Villiage is simple, and straight forward. You go here to continue on your path to Jedi OR simply develop your Force Sensitivity (Look up past TH posts for this info). The option to do this in a non-combat way is available, the skills you gain by achieving Force Skills are obviously intended to be used. There is simply no support for your assertion. Allcombat steps of the whole FS questing can be done while grouped, something that non-combat types will do. Now if they then choose to become an initiate then they will be commiting to a combat profession (as it stands now anyway).

It was stated many many times that this was the case by the devs. The actual SWG pages are no longer on the main site but the posts from TH are still in the forums.

I agree. The Village is totally unfair to crafters. In fact, even though I'm a master architect, I'm having to work on boxes other than crafting to fill my quota, because I figured out it would take me approx. 2 years to grind everything necessary to become a jedi. Also, didn't SOE say they were trying to get AWAY from grinding necessities? Not happening here.

Surveying is nullified by the hard survey cap (if you have survey 4 under the artisan tree you get no extra bonus even if you have survey 4 on the FS tree),

I gained one range increment with Master Artisan/FS Surveying 4. (384x6, IIRC.) I wonder if you would get one more if you had a perfect surveying tool; mine are just under perfect.

Experimentation is nullified owing to the present mechanic where the end result is determined by the resource stats and not by the number or level of sucesses (you can get 4 critical success in one round of experimenting and hit the cap determined by the resource stats, or get 3 normals and one amazing and still hit the same cap AND not get any more points ot experiment with).

The idea with FS Assembly and Experimentation is getting more consistent results, not more points. If you're a crafter who has to make items until you get one that maxes out the important stats via amazings, FS Exp helps get more amazings and less failures and thus less repetition to get your manufacturing schematic.

Similarly, FS Assembly helps get a better starting place. Also, according to various posts in the Tailor forum, it helps us get 4 sockets more often. Might be the same for Armorsmiths.

Cool toys is the only benefit IU can see that a crafter will get from the Village under the present game mechanics.

Heh. No reasonable crafter will get a cool toy during two of the four crafting quests. I should know!

Ok, so a silly question....

If FS skills are meant for jedi, and jedi are just combat characters, then um, why is it that most skills aren't even applicable to BEING a jedi? (i.e. surveying?)

Easy answer.

FS skills are not meant for jedi. They are meant for people wishing to develop thier force sensitivity.

The only reason you need them for Jedi at all is the simple fact that unlocking requires 6 full lines. Not everyone doing the villiage or FS quests actually wants to be a Jedi. Many want simply to unlock a second slot, others to boost their skills for their favorite profession. This is why so many are upset about the ranged skill not working correctly.

Yeah..... that's my point. =)

By the way, I'm going force sensitive Crafter.... loads of xp, lots of resources, and by golly it gives me a reason to make armour other then just making a few bucks =).... I also sell cheap to keep my inventory moving so that i actually get FS xp from making good armour, NOT grinding. Yep, i still love armoursmith, and yep, i still love SWG. I'm having a ball doing it.

But all through thisthread i read over and over that the village is for combat characters, and it's to BE a jedi, not just to use the FS skills, and that jedi are combat characters, etc, etc, etc.... if that's the case, then my previous question still stands. =)
