The ONE thing I like about the drive to and from the village is that, as a ranger, /maskscent lets me pick up a few thousand more scouting xp. Having done the Endor salvage mission this phase, though, I see why vehicle skills were unlocked. Between the six runs on Endor and the village (plus the three times my mission was bugged), I spent waaaaaaaay too much time driving.

Having t o travel to village is just a time sink. It does not keep up our interest devs, actually might want us to quit since that time to travel is a waste of the most precious asset TIME

Maybe so we leave and go play EQ2 and pay them another year's worth of gameplay.

What you say has merrit. I don't think it will happen though. My advice is to be as detatched from the trek to the village as possible. Point your speeder in the direction of the village and go watch some TV. Come back, get yourself unstuck from the tree, and fly another 1500 m while you are trolling the forums. Come back get yourself unstuck again. Repeat untill you get to the village. Trade your exp, then get murdered by the first player/monster you come accross. Now you are ready to go back to whatever hellish grind you have chosen to undertake to reach Jedi. Good times.

OMFG I luagh pop out my nose when i read this!!! I play on my laptop so i can channel surf from the couch while I grind, and i am constantly fading out to tv only to here the combat music and me stuck on a tree.

It IS working as intended, the drive to the village is there to stop some people that are not dedicated enough to be a Jedi. The fact that some of you are "annoyed" by this, just tells the devs that it is working. I highly doubt they will change anything. If they do anything with the experience level caps, itmight be to lower them, as Jedi are now running rampant and unchecked as it is; meaning you would have to make more trips than now.

On a side note, I would grind like crazy, if I were you. Who knows what will come out of the Combat Re-Balance. You may find experience much, much harder to obtain under the new system. Complaining about trips to the village will be unnecessary if you can't gain experience.

I have to hit the village 2 times per buff session. It takes me exactly 20 minutes round trip from SO on a swoop. I don't mind this really, but i do think Doc's and scouts should have their caps raised. Exp caps were set before the village was even thought of, so its kinda like incorporating an old system with the new. While this is ok for some professions, it's a real problem for others and should be modified.

I know they intended for it but my only question is why, time sinks in a MMORPG are silly.

They already limit the progression of your FS by the villages Phases, so why add another time limit that frustrates the player base?

I understand the point that they don't want people to be able to cap out XP to remaster a proff in a day, so instead why not give the option to convert on the fly by using your force crystal/quest journal. Simply allow people to convert the XP through the crystal (which makes more sence to me anyway, "You use the force crystalto channel you combat/crafting/etc. experience and feel enlightened in ways of the force, __ combat/crafting/etc. coverts to __ FS xp"). Saves the frustration of a trip just to convert xp. Still have to travel to the village to train and still have to do the quests to unlock tree's so the overall time to unlock is the same.

Would seem to be a better method to me.

Cho speaks the truth. Sorry to say, but i very much doubt the devs will let us have higher xp caps. As it simply wouldn't be much of a time sink otherwise.
We are made to go back and forth, taking approx 20 minutes there and back. This 20 minutes is the most unproductive time waster for many of us, since we do it multiple times in a session. If we do it 3 times, that's an hour wasted of our time. That's an hour gained by SOE of our time.
Think about how many times you do this journey back and forth. If you make the journey 72 times, that's a full 24 hours of your life wasted. While it's not wonderful, it's one of those things we're gonna have to grin and bear, since i doubt it'll go away. But my fingers stay crossed
