No Tricks. If you think it helps, by all meansDO IT. The wait is so short, but it feels like a life time. I say just go enjoy yourself, buy things, clothes, brandy, etc. Or just go walking around, take it back to the prehistoric SWG days. No mounts or vehicles, just walk. My two old man visits happened when I was least expecting him. Both times I was AFK. The first time I was sitting in the wide open space, a few hundred meters from Coronet. Came back, checked my Spatial, saw that he had came and gone. I cried for a sec, started walking, and he came out of no where. Scared the (edit) out of me. And my second visit, I was running to my Player City, on autorun. During my brief 2-3mins AFK, I ran into a body of water and was swimming, again checked my Spatial, had a brief cry. Turned my camera around, and he was some 5-7m behind me.
Or, do what many do. Log for a day, then check back. I found staying on and waiting was alot worse, mentally.

Same here, despite all the shuttle hopping, walking out in the open on talus, between dearic and nashal. Nothing seems to speed it up imho. It was exactly 24hours later that i got visited again.

Heh... my old man visits were rather nice. The first time I was glowy when Patch 9 came around, so I was waiting for him then. Unfortunately I also had to move to university that week, so I logged in my house in the mountains of Naboo (right next to the Emperor's Retreat, actually). When next I logged in, I walked outside and started walking around looking for him. As I crested a hill, he came running up the other side and we met at the peak. Quite cool. The second visit was even better. Having finally finished that sadistic grind, I returned home, intending for the second visit to be in the same area as the first. After waiting for some time, I looked around and found the tallest mountain I could find. I walked up it and when I reached the top, I turned my graphics to the max. I sat there gazing for a long time, having forgotten how beautiful the area I built in was. Suddenly, the sky darkened, it started to rain and, for some reason, instead of rain music playing the Emperor's theme began to play. Just as it reached the last bar, where it switches from omminous droning to a trumpet (I think that's a trumpet anyways) the Old Man appeared behind me. Man, that was so perfect...
