I-completely- agree with you, Jedi should be a Master/Padawan thing, there should be only a select few of people to do it, and it-shouldn't- take this long to get jedi!!!!!

I agree!!! They should make the grind much-much easier, make jedi not huntable until Knightand bring perma death back.

i think that if it incorporates the general star wars aspects then it really doesnt matter when it is set in time. the village isnt following this "continuity". people have suggested not making improvements because they dont strictly follow "continuity". i think MOST people pay for a game that is FUN not that is strictly following the star wars timeline. i would rather play a fun game (which i find this game to be less of all the time) than play a game that follows the star wars timeline and continuity exactly.

yep that is my entire point. the game is not that fun i believe and it could be a lot more fun than it is now.

so fun is more important than star wars at this point

I agree that the game is not fun. But it's not because it follows strict continuity. It's because of mediocre solutions that have nothing to do with star wars.

The village is SOE's inspiration not Star Wars...

Do you want a solution that is Star Wars and fun? Check below.

The grind probably needs to stay because in theory it takes years to gain skill in the Force. In game I dont know the time lapse calculation, but if it takes a person 6 months to a year in real life the equating years of training the character is going throuhg is probably accurate. Boring yes. Necessary YES.

I dont propose necesarily changing the village but I do propose a change to become glowy. The holo grind was too complex. The badge grind is almost too easy. We need a system in between and have the guide to do it NOT BE PUBLISHED FOR THE WORLD TO KNOW. Figure it out on your own. If you figure it out, then you are not allowed to post or share it. You do, you get banned. The reason the Jedi population is out of control is because they allow everyone to tell the secrets on how to get Jedi. They need a new system and rules that sharing the path is not allowed.

LOL, people need to relax more...SWG is a game, so it's EU, not canon. Think of it like the Dark Horse concept...you take the Star Wars universe as your starting point, you include all the elements that make it an interesting and compelling place, and then you open it up to the players. That means it is open to becoming a galaxy-wide jedi-vs-jedi war, if that's where the players take it. All the time in MMO development the players complain and insist that they want control over the world itself, that player and community actions should dictate the direction of the politics and wars in the game. Here in SWG you have that, to a greater extent possibly than in any other online game; if there's a million jedi around, it's because there's that many players in the community who felt it was worth the grind and the hassle to become a jedi. It's not like the system isn't restrictive as it is.

As far as the village goes, it's been noted that the developers have accomplished their goals with the creation of the village, so they are not likely to change it again. I would agree, especially since they've already made changes to the system previously (adding holocrons to speed up the process for the old dumb system), and with the village they've not only given the player's the quest-based system that the community has asked for, but with the grinding element, they've also kept it as a system geared as a challenge for "hardcore" players (grinders, anyways), which they openly stated was one of their primary intentions right from the beginning of development. So in the devs minds they've got the best of both worlds here...they have other content they'll want to spend their efforts working on in the future, as far as they're concerned, the village is working just the way they want it to (with the exception of some minor bugs, at least).

In the end it comes down to personal choice: if you really don't like the gameplay of the village, then don't become a jedi; and if you really want to be a jedi, then get used to the village. And if you really wish there weren't so many jedi in the game, then take up BH, get CL80, and do something about it.
