If you're arguing because of continuity within the Star Wars myth, which you are, shouldn't they get rid of Jedi all together?
Let's forget about the EU in which we'll find tons of surviving jedi and examine just the canon facts.
In Ep6 Yoda says that when gone he is the last of the jedi Luke will be.
In Ep3 Yoda and Obi altered the transmission from the Jedi temple to protect the remaining Jedi that had survived order 66.
SWG is placed in the vague period between Ep3 and Ep6.
So there is no continuity flaw in the existence of Jedi in the timeline between Episodes 4-5. No canon fact makes it wrong.
On the contrary the Expanded Universe supports it and (fortunately) SWG draws material from the EU as well!
Unfortunately, flawed as it is, this is the best system they put together so far.
This is arguable but IMO the village is dreadful and poor so it is unacceptable.
And since it "Works," there is no reason for SOE to improve the proccess.
I will not comment this one.
Wow, Relax. I was saying SOE considers it to be working properly, therefore they have no intentions of fixing it. BTW, the game starts immediately following episode 4.

I like the Village. Also, I have a feeling the "force mist" protects it in some way. Big lasers arent strong with the force.
Sure, it seems a "little" out of place, but everything in this game does. I think it feels more mystical then alot of places.

WOuld you all be so much annoyed if I got my way?
That's a silly question, don't you think? After all, you're annoyed that you aren't getting your way, and obviously people don't agree with you or else they wouldn't be arguing.
Seems pretty obvious the answer is yes, doesn't it?
No I think you are silly cause you can't read.
Why don't you quote the previous sentence as well?
My way is asking for top quality silly...

If a village of force sensitive, jedi-aspiring residents ever existed, the Empire would blast the entire planet.
With what?? Don't forget that the Death Star has just been destroyed.
Lol, you just hit me on my most sensitive spot... continuity!

whoah - what do the two have to do with eachother: sticking to continuity making things less fun? I'm not sure i understand what you're getting at here. We PAY for a Star Wars product. Ignoring continuity (at least what is in the films) would make this nothing more than any other mmorpg exept that it has a Star Wars skin. I would suggest that anyone who wants to throw out continuity would probably be better served looking elsewhere.
As for the village, its set up this way for one reason only: subscription fees. SoE knows that once people unlock Jedi, it's only a matter of time before they get tired of PvP, realize that there is effectively no content and limited Role Play potential, and either quit or sell their account to someone else.
The village is set up to take as much time as possible not to deter people from becoming jedi, but to keep them tied up and paying fees forjust under halfa year, if you go as fast as possible.
Don't get me wrong... I think the village and the whole FS system has potential, but it shouldn't be the mindless grind it is. I think it would work best in its current form as something entirely outside the Jedi system... something to give non-jedi a bit more "oomph". I would say that Han is an excellent example of such a character, canonically (technically you could use the fact that he can equip a lightsaber as proof that he's somewhere around initiate, even in the current system). There's the Greedo shot (thats gotta be speed and accuracy), all the "I've got a bad FEELING about this" (senses?), all the repairs / hotwires / rebuilds etc on the Falcon (FS repair), etc etc etc.
Add in a series of quests to unlock the friggin initiate slot, give it slow skill gain, and make it entirely a master/apprentice thing. Everyone benefits, everyone happy.
And we still stay something in line with continuity.
I don't think the village needs to go, but if the devs want to keep this game even remotely dynamic, they need to make some changes. This uuber grind is just plain silly.

do you want to make the game less fun as long as it follows the story line? really?
First of all what I said in this thread was to replace the mediocre village solution with one that is flexible, dynamic and depends heavily on the community.
Second if you take the time to check out the expanded universe (anything star wars besides the movies) you will get tons of content to enrich this game and make everyone happy. There are tons of other solutions far better than the village that respect the continuity.
Here's a couple words that I've defined thru my experience of recently completing the FS quests and skills:
