I have been playing for nearly two years now, have my six unlocks and have eight and a half boxes left to fill. I don't see myself quitting in the foreseeable future, but awknowledge that it will require me to cap about seventy times to get to padawan. I'll do it, eventually. But I'm taking my time about it...I've seen too many people quit due to being worn down by the grind. I only cap two to three times a week due to my work and family schedule. And due to the fact that I PLAY instead of GRIND. The hardest part about this whole situation is that there was a time I could have finished my entire grind with less than twenty caps...but I didn't, I decided to take my time, and SOE is making me pay for that decision. Literally, PAY for it.

What I could use is tips on how to cap quicker. When I do take the time to GRIND (hunting groups out of Dant MO of course), it takes me about an hour and a half I'd guess to cap. This equates to about 50k FS XP, anyone doing better and how?

The whole point of all that I said was " Just because you were playing from the beginning of the game, or for years, what gives YOU the right to say what is right or wrong?". What is it that makes the veterans of the game think that because they have seniority, they have the right to dictate whether or not my game is harder or easier? Is your 15.00 per month rimmed in gold, and mine only in copper? The fact that you are jealous of the fact that mine is easier than yours ( not necesarily you in particular, but you as in " those that fit the profile,. or the collective "you", as it were.) The whole problem, comes from US, the players.

It is players that gripe about those that come later having it easy, and wanting them "Nerfed" to make it harder, that has caused so many of the problems of the game as a whole. Anyone that knows the first thing about programming know that it is like mechanics. If you have fewer moving parts, there is less likelihood that things will break.

When players ask for nerfs, that adds coding to the game. When players, on the other side, have to ask for fixes, that adds even more coding. They don't take things away, only add more. If the few players that ask for a return to the pre CU days got their way, the Devs could not take away the CU, they'd have to ADD code that nullified what was doen with the CU download.

If I, as a Jedi ( which I'm not yet) ask for Bounty Hunters to be nerfed in such a way, like for example, they have an ability that makes it hard for me to beat them in one on one, I'm asking for their game to be screwed over instead of trying to learn my own template to overcome their ability. They in return ask that the new thing or adjustment that I got be nerfed, and on it goes.

What is really sad is that most of the people that are asking for Jedi, and also the FS grind and path, to be nerfed are the very ones that should be wanting us to succeed. Why do the ask for this? So that they can be speacial for just a little while longer.

What we have is a MMORPG where the players are constantly trying to get the Devs to help them against each other. Playersthink that, because they've played longer, they should have it all their way, but this is not the case. I don't mind a long grind. I don't mind if it's hard, but the fact is, you are wrong, it's not longer. A player that has the time can still get the FS XP that they need to unlock by the time they get there, but what HAS been added is a mindless grind that bores the hell out of other players. The really sad thing that you said more than once in your responce is "good". You said it in reference to making the game harder for other players, in responce to there being less players who get what they've worked for, and paid their money for. And these players are not asking for things to be made easier for them, just not changed in the middle of the path. They have not asked, in any serious numbers, for the three week phases to be changed. They have not asked for thr requirements for XP to be lowered, or the Badge and POI requirements to be lessened. All they asked was that the XP not be nerfed. What does it heklp, you if the Devs Nerf the XP? Nothing.

It will not make fewer Jedi. The same number of Jedi that were in the game before the XP nerf went live are in the game now. And Will be. These peole are not going to quit. Those that are on the path through the village and are close are going to be Jedoi soon. XP nerf not withstanding. Those of us that have a lonmg way to go will get there just as fast, because we CAN get what we need in time. The only sad part about it is, now, we can no longer take time off, if we want to get there by the time we unlock, to enjoy anything ELSE. We can't take the time to run quests, do missions, or create anything for anyone because we have to continue the mindless grind if we want to get through by the time we unlock the sixth and final tree. Yes, it can be done, but not and enjoy the game.

Ands here's the kicker, if we gripe about it, what responce do we get from the selfish people that want the game to revolve around them? If we don't like it, go play something else?

Well, I say to those of you that LIKE the XP nerf, if you don't like the Jedi in the game, why don't YOU go play something else? You could go play America's Army, WOW, or anyonew of a number of ther games that have NO Jedi. That is what you want? Right? So why do you stick around? And another good one is those that say there are OTHER professions than Jedi, why don't we go do them?

Why don't you delete your Jedi and go do them? I joined the game to play it. I've played other professions, and I decided that I want to be Jedi. It's open for me, and if I pay my bill, it's none of your business. Yet these people continue to whine and cry, wanting this nerf to Jedi, that nerf to FS, and "Slow them down". Why do you get to say how slow it should be? You got yours, so screw me? Is that it? Well, all you are doing is screwing yourself. One of the problems with this game, and ALL agree about this, the sence of COMMUNITY is gone. And this is true. But we're not the ones that killed it, you are, by insisting that my character get nerfed, and held back, and slowed down. Yes, you pay yours just like I pay mine, but that doesn NOT give you the right, just becaudse you've been playing since launch, to insist that things go your way, unless ofcourse, Lucas and SOE made you a consulting partner. Did they?

Me neither. So I don't go around asking for ANYONE'S game to be nerfed. Search the posts, and you won't find a single time where I asked for ANYONE to get a nerf. And I never will. I think you have the right to develope you character as you see fit. Not my business. But you should be trying to help new players instead of calling them Newbies or whatever. That is so childish.

Besides, what do you care if I get my Jedi, or how fast I get it. With an alt, I won't be playing the Jedi as often. I'll be crafting things for the Bazaar, or for friends, or Guildies. Alot of other players feel the same way.

I don't mean to be severe with anyone in the forums or in the game, but all I see are peole asking for nerfs on both sides, or rejoicing over nerfs that have come to pass. The XP nerf will not make fewer Jedi.nThose that are Jedi will continue to be Jedi, and those that come afterwards will do the same. Do I think that there should be only Jedi in the game? No, I don't. But if everyone wants to have aJedi toon, so what? Jedi can't craft the things that we all need, so what are all these Jedi going to be doing? Playing their alts to craft. But what will eventually will happen is this: Someone at SOE, or at Lucas Arts, will decide that it's just not worth all the griping and changes to keep it balanced, and still not get new customers. They'l, have this thing so messed up, that it can't be fixed. Where will all of out toons and hard work be then?

They won't.

And how will this be better?

Keep nerfing the professions. Keep messing this game up, and trying to "Balance" it to death. Keep calling for more nerfs, griping and complaining about other peole, and eventually you'll get you wish. The biggest nerf that the Devs will put into the game will be when they pull the plug out of the wall that last time. All the Servers will go down for reset, and NEVER come back up.

And all your Jedi fears will be over.

The new 30:1 combat xp ratio is not going to slow down the new incoming Jedi at all, they'll do whatever they have to do to get Jedi, its only going to slow down the exisiting FS grinders, and piss them off, and no doubt cancel their account, not just because of the XP nerfs, but because SOE always keeps pissing them off with changes players don't need. Publish 21 also pissed off a lot of Droid Engineers too as the new CH update broke the DE profession, and the list just keeps adding up and up and up, If other professions eg the crafting ones got fixed, and droids had cool new functions that worked, then more people would be tempted to do DE than Jedi. This would slow down the Jedi, actually making the others parts of the game more interesting, all the devs have to do is fix the stuff, quite easy really.

The new Jedi won't be slowed down, because they wouldn't initailly be aware of the easier 3:1 ratio, until they get chatting to someone who knows and subject gets brought up, but even then that was then, this is now, and they know no better, and carry on grinding as normal.

It may put a bit of a gap on people getting Jedi, from the existing FS grinders, but the new incoming Jedi will then still come at the same rate as now, as the FS grind is not difficult, just long and boring, if it was made more difficult by having to have to do hard quests like that of killing mel, then that would slow things down more, as people wouldn't be bothered to do it and give up.

However, it may slow down the number of people just going for their 2nds slots, which I'm currently doing, but fortunately nearly there,as it will probably cheaper now just to buy a 2nd account, than spend months and months paying for your 1st main account, just to do loads of mindless boring gameplay

So, all in all I don't think the new 30:1 Combat XP grind is good at all.

No news is bad news, going by SOEs track record.

I suspect that Trader/Enteratiner will end up being worse off, and they're not saying anything, as people will quit because of it.

I'm going to quit when the sub runs out, and return if the revamps are worthwhile, unless knowledge of the revamps come before subs run out, and I like it, but I'm not going into day 1 of the new month, then the revamps get announced, and my char is shafted.
