Locked containers, weapons and armor are all 250xp per slice. Terminals are 100xp per slice. And yes you can slice faction terminals.

All NPCs drop containers, the most common source seems to be "Thug"-type NPCs. You'd probably have to kill quite a few to get enough containers for slicing 2, though, which is why so many are buying them on the bazaar for 6K.

Head to Tyrena on Corellia there are four static spawns of meatlumps and other thugs for your enjoyment

Another place that there is alot of thug type npc's is Kaddrena(sp?) the most northwestern city on naboo. go to the cantina and face away from the door go straight and then down the stairs to the beach there are about 6-8 static NPC spawns there. just have a good blaster(i use a scout blaster) and run up and down the beach til you have enough containers for a minute. One spawn will generally spawn about 8-10 npcs before the bodies will not render any loot, but as long as they render loot another will instantly spawn. When that static spawn stops rendering loot then move on to the next one further down the beach. When you reack the grass on one end or the water on the other slice the containers that you have collected and then do it again.

Is slicing xp a realistic way to get the luck tree ? perhaps also in combination with 4000 scout xp (30000 xp cap)

Actually the scout doesnt help you much. at an 8:1 trade in with a 30k cap.
I ended up doing slicing bacause at a 3:1 trade in its 33k each trip to the village.
Also once you get the hang of it and a rythm going you can do 300 slices an hour which means you cap in 2 hours.
It helps if you have the ws that makes you the kits make some cheap grind survival knives.

Thanks scooter, ill try it that way i am looking for something that minimally disrupts my combat skills, atm I have only only one box in slicing
but can relatively painlessly bump it up.

How long did it take to slice your way up the luck tree?
I'm slicing up the luck tree and use the 30k scout xp as a bonus amount of xp.
2 down, 2 to go, 2 wrists worn out, not much of head left....

I have a house with 400 pieces of armour for slicing all in crates. I have a friend come in and slice till he caps then i clear out the sliced armour while hes at the village.
This way he can just drop in anytime and slice for a bit - and i get my armour sliced in the hope of some good pieces
He actually sliced 4 90% gloves in a single session just recently - hows that for luck!

I did the luck tree by AFK dancing and slicing. FYI you can slice while you dance. So when I was actually on line, I sliced constantly. It took about a month and cost about 2 million for the supplies I couldn't make (WUKs, Knives)
