As I have grinded towards becoming Jedi, I have run across a lot of people who, for one reason or another, don't get it.
I am tired of hearing people complain about how hard, or how easy it is to get Jedi. I am tired of hearing about how "this: or "That" in the game is unfair. I am tired of Jedi pretending that ONLY they are important in the game. (however this is a whole different thread)
I have played SWG since 2 days after its release. i have tried other games like WOW and Matrix OL. You know what keeps me coming back.... THE CONSTANT shift in this game. SWG is the best MOL game out because the developers have enough sense to make it interesting, change it up. How many of us have played Vid Games that after 3 months get old?? (WOW anyone?) SOE has done one HECK of a job at making this game interesting. Will they change how people get Jedi... YES EVENTUALLY! Should they HECK YES.... cause if they don't the game will get stagnant. Will I be irritated that it changed and I am not yet jedi? Yup... however after crying myself a river, I will don my armor, grab my pike and start the new process. The point of SWG is that it can never be beaten... nor should it. Change is good, and fun.... this is not a way of life people, its a game!
Those of you Uber gamers out there, congrats on getting Jedi. Those who grinded holocubes and then grinded Jedi.... congrats..... those of you who are grinding Jedi as you read this..... keep your heads up, keep on keeping on, and someday you will be the aforementioned... and to all of those out there that feel that SOE is unfair.... go grind lvl 60 on WOW.... us true players will be waiting for you when you return!

To the OP very well said. I think it is what alot of people have wanted to say but didnt know how to say it in a not so.... combative way.
Hear hear, change is an inevitable part of MMOs... People who insist on a static Star Wars gaming experience might try Jedi Academy or KOTOR.

at release it took me about 6 months to master bounty hunter, after CU i started a new character and did it in a week if that. everything in this game now is 100x easier than it was at release so anybody complaining about anything in this game being hard, you are actually lucky, if you only knew what it used to be like.
I just started playing about 3 weeks ago and mastered bh in 2 weeks not knowing **edit** im doing. now that i have mastered my proff. i have come on the boards to read about jedi cause everyone will make one character jedi sooner or later.
My take is even still it looks hard to make a jedi im completly fs now and waiting for the shift in phase 1 to 2. Now that being said i think BH are to weak. Before you flame me (im not complaining suggesting only). I think since BH and jedi are rivals they both should be just as hard to get and evenly matched. I know its possible to kill jedi.. Im upto 13 kills and 17 fails (i like attacking Knights to much) I dont think bh is something you can just learn by going to a terminal and saying ok im going to go kill that guy now. Zoom off in our vehicles and go (and yes i love the new vehicles and thank SOE for implementing them. I just believe that bh should be harder to get and have almost the same payoff as jedi does. Jedi from what i have heard from vets used to run from bh all the time. Now its about 50/50 in my case cause i have been told im actually a decent BH. If you look in the jedi and bh forums u will see the success rate is horribly in favor of jedi. This also depends on if the person is trust worthy to tell the truth. and the ones i feel tell the most truth is the bhs that also have a jedi character.
i believe the Jedi proff, is awesomely set up, hard yet easy to obtain, and fun to play from what i have seen on the boards.
BH how ever is to east to obtain and i dont believe we are given enough to have a good chance to kill jedi on a norm basis. id say if u weighed jedi vrs. bh is would be about 40% BH 50% jedi. 10% luck.
bounty hunter used to be obtained by mastering marksman and scout then you could master bh and have 0 sp left.. it was a great day if you were a master bh hunter in the old ways.. then they made it so you have to have master marksman and only the fist branch in scout... now you only need to have 0004 marksman and 4000 scout..

I have been playing SWG for almost a year and a half. I started playing, because I wanted to play a Dancer. It was never my intention to be a Jedi until just recently. It took me 3 months to master Dancer alone, because I refused to AFK. (thank you to the combat boys who made it interesting by talking to me). As for a combat profession, I was never that dedicated, so it took me a long time to grind combat. I had too much fun doing other things, like exploring and seeing how long I could last as a novice fencer in the Geo caves, or the Corvette, or any other difficult area
.
I would like to say, some whine that the combat xp is nerfed blah blah blah. Well guess what, lots of other professions have been nerfed. Get over it, deal with it. They took away BF, which to many of you combat people don't realize was the main reason people came into cantinas. They gave us inspiration? Sure...but I've only done a profession specific buff twice, and unless you do it just right, even passive buffs don't work. Such as if I watch a musician for longer than the max duration....thebuff duration reverses. I stick around for 2 min after I started watching and finished my buff, and I only have 30 min on the buff. Oh and guess what...I can't buff myself anymore, and that comes out to a fair amount of XP that i'm losing out on cause I was always able to buff myself, and now I can't find an ent or forget to.
For those who grind jedi and say it's too hard. I am disappointed. It's something you want and something you're willing to strive for, put your whole self into it. Yes, the constant grind is not fun at all. I had no free unlocks when I started my FS grind, I hadn't even capped on my weapons xp. I only had 3 branches grinded when they decided to change the combat xp. I was not a 'nade grinder so it didn't affect me THAT much, though I did see the affect. And lets all be a little thankfull that the devs didn't give us the bird and keep publish 22.
I will be unlocking my final branch in phase 2. I have almost grinded out the 1 and only senses branch that i'm going to grind, and I have officially 1 branch of combat left to grind. In other words, I will be a jedi in about 2 weeks *crosses fingers*.
I will not be dropping dancer. I have dropped master and am now only 0044 dancer, and will probably be going 0040, to get as many jedi xp as possible. I am sacrificing the full template to be what I want to be, and continue to play this game the way I want to play it. Will I be able to fight of BH's often? No, in fact, probably rarely if ever. Will they call me a chicken and a n00b for cloaking and running to save my hide? Most definitely. Will I care? No...because it's how I want to play.
Long story short: take it from probably one of the slowest Pistols grinders alive. If I can suck it up and get in gear and do this...so can you. Even if you are fresh off the ME boat and don't even know how to take a damn screenshot but you're almost jedi *mumbles incoherently*.
