My question is, once I get to padawan and open the second character slot, does my main "have" to be a jedi? I've never had any intention of my main being a jedi. I just want to be the profession I've been since Sept 03. But I'd like that second slot for the extra character.

Is that possible?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's entirely possible. And technically, yes - your main HAS to be a Jedi (can't drop Padawan). But, your main never has to do anything to advance in Jedi, nor ever pick up a lightsaber.

You must, however, obey the following:

  • Understand that you will permanently have 24 skill points wrapped up in Force Sensitive skills, which can never be dropped once you're Padawan. If your desired character once you become Jedi relies on those 24 skill points for a template, consider levelling up your new alt to the skills you want, then dabble with your main.

  • Never equip or unequip your lightsaber within 32m of any player or NPC. In fact, just to be safe, stick the saber in your bank. Throw your Padawan robes in there, too. Those don't generate visibility, so it seems, so in theory you could wear it around. But, it's best to keep your "true identity" quiet, to avoid unnecessary attention. Similarly, don't put up your Jedi Padawan tag, unless you really want to. Again, why receive unwanted attention. Some BH's don't like Jedis "showing off" - so low profile is the key.

  • Never use any kind of Force powers or tune any crystals/pearlswithin 32m of any player or NPC. Generates visibility, will land you on the Bounty Hunter terminals.

It used to be that the next warning in the list was that your Jedi main character could never die again (if you could help it), because cloning would cause some hefty negative Jedi xp penalties. This has been removed, it seems - the only negative xp you can get is through a Bounty Hunter deathblow right now.

Follow the above rules and youshouldn't have issues.

Even if you don't ever plan on playing your Jedi as a Jedi, avoid negative Jedi xp at all costs. Should you want to level the Jedi in the distant future, and you have a massive amount of negative xp, the climb back up will take quite awhile.

as stated earlier by someone else, u can't have ur main and ur second char online at the same time if on the same acct. if 2 separate accts then ya u can do that, but not the same acct. which i think blows btw...

My current character just turned force-sensitive. Am I going to have to give up any of my current skill or professions to continue down the path of a Jedi? That would really blow.

Each box in FS training costs 1 skill point. Since you need 24 boxes to finish, yes, you'll probly have to drop a little of something.

The extra slot sounds like a nice bonus! Too bad you can't have it on at the same time.....

I DO have a second account, but do not know how to run both at the same time. Is it complicated? (I amnotextremelycomputer savy)

I also suffer from a handicap...slow dial up service due to rural location...will it affect it negativly? (broadband in 6 mo., cant wait!)

So the most skill points I will ever put into a Jedi character is going to be no more that 24 skill points. Is that correct?

Hmm, good question. I think you can put in more if you want, but I don't think that's a good idea. I might be wrong though. A Jedi would be able to answer that better.

I don't know how many skill points are used up after Padawan, but you must use 24 points to get to Padawan. You DO NOT have to spend all those points until you have all your FS XP banked, i.e. you can bank all your XP until you can train all 24 boxes at once, if you wish. There is no knowncap on FS XP, if there is, it's high enough tofill 3 branches in a tree.

Once you finish the village you will have used 24 skill points on FS skills. You have 250 total devoted to tother professions at the moment 226 remaining. As you progress into Jedi you will have to drop other professions to train in your Jedi trees. And eventually have to drop pretty much all of them to finish your temp.

hi

i also could be totatly wrong , but if you only need to use 24 skill points from you normal character, and you do not need to use any more (all skill points), then why do thay give you another character, when you finnish your padawan trials to start him/her from new (in the normal professions), thiers so many threads on this that i have read its very hard to know what is correct, but if what i have read so far is anythink to go by then i would say you have to give most of your characters skill points up ..

You need the 24 FS skill points to qualify for the padawan trials. Once completed you will have 226 points left from 250. As you train boxes in your jedi you will drop profession boxes to free up skill points. In the end you should have pretty much 226 skill points in Jedi skills(full temp)and the 24 in FS skill points which would be 250 total points.
