I believe it is very foolish to become FS before lvl 70-80. Why? Because it is FOOLISH! Enjoy the game before setting your heart on Jedi unless you're Jedi crazy(like me). Get to like lvl 80 before you become FS. Here's a list of reasons.

saying its foolish because its foolish is likeanswering "because" when you're asked "because why?" As far as "get to like CL80" . . . is that CL 80 or is it CL79 or is there a higher CL?

1. You need to observe other Jedi before becoming one. See if it is really what you want to become.

Most jedi would rather you not observe them . . its saves on the visability lol

2. Enjoy SWG! Who knows maybe you'll like something better.

true true

3.If you are too low CL you will get destroyed by Siths.

true . . but thats what friends are for

4. It will be easier to cap if you are CL 80 because you will get more exp and cap faster because it takes a lot of exp.

not true . . . lower CL character have masteries in other skills which have max caps. You're limiting yourself to only combat people . . .and FS can be so much more than combat.

5. Do you really wanna be the weakest Jedi in all of SWG. Come on, become as powerful as possible.

who is to judge weak vs. strong? Jedi have a lot of different ways they can go . . . what seems weak to you . .mightbe strong to another.

6. And, not to forget, BH's!!!! Hello they kill Jedis! Doesn't matter Light or Dark. BH'S LIVE TO KILL ANY AND ALL JEDI.

This is the only thing that makes sense to me . . . but fighting a BH is not necessarily the only option . . . Obi Wan said somethign about that once in a movie

7. Lastly, you have to be an experienced player. One who knows there way around adn won't get lost.

once again CL has nothing to do with experience . . . it has to do with your current combat skills.

Rescuerofjedi,

I feel for you. I read your post when it was first posted, and I understood it at once. It was your opinion, in an attempt to help much newer players. No, I'm not a "new" player, but I've been playing slowly and not concentrating on Combat perhaps as much as I should have earlier. I got almost everything I needed to go FS shortly after I started the game, then stopped trying for awhile ( I figured that I needed a better CL. I was right.) I did the last parts no too long ago, and still ended up FS with a too low CL. Currently I'm CL 45, but with the help of guildmates and friends, I made it to the village.

Now I'm relaxing and leveling my character at an easy pace. I'm concentrating on doing NPC Bounty Hunter Missions, and thinking about hunting a few Jedi ( I WILL NOT DB A JEDI OF ANY RANK, EVEN IFI COULD, that just seems like canibalism to me, being FS now myself. ) If I do decide to Hunt Jedi, they can either pay me off, or not. I'll delete the Mission after the encounter anyway. I'm just going to use it as training in PVP. The only way I'll DB a Jedi is if I manage to incap them, let them off, and they attack anyway after agreing not to try to kill me. Then? TUFF.

But back to the point: Some people take the game and the forums way too seriously. They act like this is real life, and anyone not agreeing with them is seen as attacking them. That show a lack of maturity. The whole reason for the forums is discussion of ideas, experiences, and OPINIONS.

Thank you fir your posts, and please don't give up. Let the flamers flame on, they may think they're one of the Fantastc Four, so let them have their fantasy.

I think you're confusing the issue of CL vs. Experience. I have played since launch and I have a CL 80 character and a CL 1 that is master Tailor/Architect/Artisan on two different accounts. The CL 1 character is just as experienced as the other one is, maybe even more so.

She mastered her professions before the time when you got badges, and never had a profession badge until after respec. She's done quests, had a thriving business, and enjoyed the game during the past two years. After respec ended and I got the badges I decided to make her force sensitive.

Sony did add the crafter and senses lines to force sensitivty after all. I don't think they are there purely for the combat classes.

I like some things about the CU, but there are two main issues I have with it. The first is that the game used to be more open ended. People would pick and choose skills and make unique character templates. Now in order to get to CL 80 some of the creativity is gone and you need dual combat mastery. The second issue is that being a master in a field used to mean more. You used to hear 'ooh, a master xxx, can you make this for me?' and now you hear 'CL 1, how lame'. This isn't always the case, but I have heard it on more than one occasion.

Why shouldn't someone who has played the game for two years be entitled to another character slot to play and experience something new. I know about BH's and they aren't a concern if you don't plan on getting visibility. I also don't plan on going full template jedi with this character, but I would like the opportunity to enjoy my second character slot. I miss the days when the title 'Master xxx' meant more than CL.

BTW, unless you're into trying to get carpal tunnel or something by grinding, FS combat is tons easier to get than FS artisan.

Ohh I did'nt know they added the crafter FS lines. Well, in that case, bump this forum and be the Jedi you were born to be!

Now although i pretty much disagree with alot of the original posters comments, i do believe there is an element of truth in what he says about CL. As a guild leader its sometimes frustrating that every new palyer that i try to help and introduce to the game wants to becaome jedi instantly. I try to show them the things you need to know to actually play the game to start with but their gimme gimme attitude often means they dont wont me to help them level up or learn how to play the game they just want instant jedi. When i tell them that really leveling up is a good idea for jedi they often ignore , and continue wanting to just go and get glowy. So with a /sigh i then tell them how to get glowy , knowing whats coming next... "Im glowy but im only CL 10 I cant Kill the sith. " So then its up to me to protect and complete someone elses quest, even though after they finally do become glowy most of them, (unless they were a crafter or healer seeking some appropriate FS branches), will want to level up anyway cos they will not be able to complete the branches that involve combat otherwise.

I say the best way to help a new player that wants to become jedi is to help them level up, and thats what i offer to all new players is the opertunity to grind in groups with me to help them level quicker. Its just the logical path. Why get glowy before youve raised your CL , seeing as it needs to be high if your gonna kill the sith?

I agree that people should experience the game and have fun before starting jedi. The higher your CL is the better for combat oriented people, and mastering an elite combat profession will net the highest cap for your combat skill.

As for once you become jedi, if you plan on doing Dant experience groups, the higher CL the better. If you plan on soloing, lower CL may be easier.

Personally, the people that I don't care to see in the village are people with CL 20's - 40's. They are usually the ones saying "i cant do quest without u" and spamming LFG.

Idon't mind seeing CL 1's in the village. They are doing the crafting or sensesquests and no bother to anyone. I know that they are crafters or entertainers looking to enhance their crafting, get another character slot, or just get an extra 10 lots to put harvesters.

There are many reasons people decide to go force sensitive. Many people don't do it to become jedi. I think this post should be aimed at those planning on becoming jedi, not as ageneralization.

Here's a few from earlier in the message

Sneev: I am making a padawan for the free alt slot, not to be a Jedi

Emanon74: Not everyone is going after the combat lines. There are healing and crafting lines if you didn't know.

Ninyania: Since when does "becoming FS" equate to "setting your heart on Jedi" ? They're two completely separate things

Andoria: I also don't plan on going full template jedi with this character, but I would like the opportunity to enjoy my second character slot

The last one you replied: Ohh I did'nt know they added the crafter FS lines. Well, in that case, bump this forum and be the Jedi you were born to be! - I don't think you read that post before reponding rather negatively.

You make some good points for those that plan on going full jedi and for combat oriented peeps (not toosure about 1 and 5). Don't worry about the CL 1's, most likely they aren't in it for jedi. Aim it at the ones who are going for combat and a bit higher level. Also, try not to let your emotions run away and read before responding.

levels in a level based game does not equate to experience... Levels = Time!

it takes time to mindlessly kill mobs.... experience is something you gain by playing the game and trying different ways and seeing what works best for you chararacter...

ive found that the highest level person (this isnt always true mind you) is a total idiot with a lot of time on their hands.

Im a low lvl glower and im not a noob! I've actualy been on longer than others. The reason I unlocked the village at a low lvl is so I would be more motivated to do boring things like grind out combat proffesions. So all you other low lvlers out there go ahead and get fs if you want. Youll see its not all thats its cracked up to be.

My opinion is it isn't terrible for Low lvl toons to get FS. Not everyone has the time on thier hands to get CL 80 nor should they have to Grind through 2 master professions just to be able to get the profession they actually want. Of course not everyone and thier brothers should be jedi..but to unlock the other abilities should be achievable by low lvl players. Just my opinion.
