People probably weren't helping because everyone was going for 1 or 2 hits on them then moving to the next one. You get credit for the kill once they die as long as you get at least 1 hit on them. People are to busy focusing on getting as many as they can to finish the quest that they weren't paying attention

Intimidate and synthesteak is your best friend against thugs!! I can solo 3 but when my tummy is full I better have one dead and keep the other two intimidated, thats also being a swordsman, TKA may take while to kill em.

Hmm. *goes over the scene in his head* You know, I might have put the first punch in, because he was red to me, and I assumed he'd aggro and wanted to get in the first hit.
Maybe I did myself in! What a noob. 
I'll try to go in without messing with anything tonight and see if they still aggro. Thanks for the tip, and I may take you up on that offer of help.

You may be right, and I'm really not even that irked at them- I mean, I'm just some dude that shows up out of nowhere and ends up pulling a couple of high-level aggros into their group. One could hardly blame them for not being overly happy to see me.
Still, they were doing quite well, and maybe a stim thrown my way would have been nice. I certainly wasn't hurting their ability to generate XP!

Points? Try killing things that are equal to or above your CL.
and the phases all switch differently depending on the server - every 3 weeks of uptime.
