CL30? Let me tell you from right now, you'll want to be at LEAST 70 before you try to be a jedi. In order to even get into the village you have to defeat a set of two sith shadows that are level 75 and 77 and then a set of 3-4 with that are the same level. At 30 you'll be incapped in 1, maybe 2 shots if you're lucky.

Listen to your guild leader, you should master 2 combat professions or get close to it or else you WILL NOT be able to complete any missions on your own, and you don't want to depend on the kindness of strangers to get you through the next 6 month grind to jedi. Play the game normally and learn the ins and outs of it before you try to become a jedi, you don't want to be the one spamming in the village for help on every single mission.

I have a question for everyone to comment on...

I've been only a few months so I still feel very newbish on most things, but playing long enough to be dangerous to myself....

In watching many players turn Jedi and being Force Sensative myself at the moment and just getting a taste of the Jedi way of life, I find myself asking some questions about the profession and seeking enlightenment from those who have made the transition.

It appears to be, from my experience and the comments of those around me, that you have to slowly give up your current skills to become Jedi. I'm currently a Master Architect/Artisan/Fencer and with only a few points left to spare, I see Jedi already forcing me to give up points to advance. I see that there is Jedi crafting skills, but if I give up some of my Architectural skills, would I be able to continue to build items? It seems the Jedi crafting gives bonuses to success of my building, so if I choose that path I'll have great success at building items if I could only remember how to make them since I gave up the skill to get the bonus.

Same with my Combat skills, looks like I'm giving up combat ability to gain bonuses to abilities I'll have to give up to get the bonuses?

I now see Jedi running into homes, cowering in fear from being hunted from Bounty Hunters which are killing their bounties in just a few seconds/shots. I've heard rumors that Jedi are powerful beings and were all but impossible to kill, but perhaps that's only in the movies. I've found myself doing more damage as a Fencer than a Padawan and his light saber???

Soooooo, basically my question is this...

Is my impression of the Jedi life correct? Must you give up all your skills and training to become a blubbering idiot with a glow stick for a weapon and some neat static discharge effects? Why would I want to be a Jedi if such observations are true?

In some ways, yes you are correct... in other ways no you are not. Jedi is just like any other class ..... you have to know how to play it..I have seen some really good bh's and some really BAD bh's.

The same can be said about Jedi. And the same goes for Jedi as in the crafting classes. If you get the best resources/tools/workstations... then you are obviously going to build the best sabers. You also need premium crystals/pearls .... AND .. they have to actually tune well. But if all of these things fall in line AND you have trained some good boxes. Then yeah Jedi could Pwn.

And yeah you do have to give up your skills... I respecced to TKM and have just been giving it up slowly but surely.... it is worth it.

Dude, I would HIGHLY recomend you become CL80 before going to the village. But if you are any less than 60 when you go there you will die within seconds. Hell you can almost die at CL80 on some village misisons. Almost EVERY enemy in the village is CL76...just to give you a heads up. So unless you plan on getting help form people from the village with EVERY misison (which you can do, but most people are off doing their own things and would rather not follow you around everywhere) then I would recommend doing what your Guild Leader said. MBH and Master some other combat prof.

I did one phase (phase 4, the chaos one lol) PRE-CU thank god. And did one phase after the CU at CL63 and was getting my ass kicked but I did it. Then I just did my last phase at CL80 with ease. I would highly recommend CL80 for the village...

You also need to save up and convert EXP, and if you are CL30, you wont be able to do this, because the exp you are saving up is ALSO what you need to become a high CL. So I would recommend being CL80 so you dont need to save any more exp, and then you can just convert it for FSexp.

While it's true that KOTR and KOTR2 are good games to play if you want to be a jedi (loved both), the truth to the matter is that neither gives the community action that SWG does. This is the reason I play the game, the interaction with other ppl and all the new friends I look forward to seeing when online. To be or not to be a jedi is personal preference, just remember you will be hunted.

I've seen ppl say that we shouldn't be allowed to play Jedi because of the time this game is in...and that's BS. Jedi exist...they are just hunted. Be prepared for a bh to come after you when you flaunt your profession. If you don't want other gamers coming after you, don't become a jedi. If you don't want teams of BH's coming after you...don't become a jedi. It's that simple.

If you want Jedi to run freely, get the Dev's to create a game during a different time period (Old Republic, New Jedi Order). But oh wait..during NJO, you'll be hunted by the Vong....lol.

I'm becoming a Jedi cuz I like the concept of what they are. I play the D20 system role-play and will play a Jedi even during rise of the rebellion...I'm hunted...I accept it.
