My only problem is that is forces PVP. Not everyone wants to PVP. You might as well tell players who don't wish to PVP leave the game. There's no place for you here.

Alright... after being cheated out of a Jedi 'toon, and then finding out that i'd have to do what i did for MBH and TKM x100, just to get what i had NEARLY Accomplished in less than 3 months... (While juggling highschool, i might add)... to take part in a "Quest Based" System... (A.K.A Do 1 Quest every 1,814,400 Seconds, then Grind XP for 2-3 weeks for Branch Unlockedeach 1,814,400 Seconds)... This seems like a very refreshing Idea. not only to make it more Immersive, and less Boring.. but this wouldgive us Non-Readers a nice lil' trip into the EU.

Albeit, i disagree with some of the Parts... i agree that it Should be Harder. but it SHOULDN'T be boring.

Let me put it this way... When i was grinding my Holo's?... i thought of it as... "Wow. Apparently i have to Become Skilled in all Areas of my Being to become a good Initiate."

Now i think... "Man. Obi-Wan must REALLY Like me, Sending me out to Spin Attack 400+ Lairs of Baznitches! ^_^;"

I'm Sorry... but if THAT'S Immersion, then i'm Leonard Nemoy. (In Which Case i'd be Grinding for my Vulcan Nerve Pinch, not my Jedi.)

Also, whoever said that we aren't Jedi, we're our own Profession, thats Correct. we don't have to hid from BH's. we have to hide from the ridicule of Padawans or Knights who see us Tossing 'Nades.
We don't Get special "Updates" and "Bug Fixes"... We get a new "Quest" every 3 weeks. (Oh Yeah, Guys. Send me to Endor so i can ride up on my Swoop, and snatch a box of supplies from a ship. just to spend 5000 credits to travel back to where i GOT the mission, just to find out... "Hey! I need you to do it 4 more times.")

We don't get a Revamp to make us more like Han Solo. we don't get an Upgrade that makes it so we are actually balanced, and don't get stomped by some guy with a bladed pair of brass knuckles.

We get to spend 150k Combat XP just to get a Novice box that doesn't count towards our 6 "Helpful, Working-as-Intended" Branches.

If it meant waiting another year to get my jedi? i'd do it. if it mean't not being bored while getting it.

Anyways, Great Post. wish we'd see more constructive ideas to cloak the Boring Grind that is FS. i'll still do it. i just wish i knew how to shut out the fact that all i'm doing is grinding investigate 1-4500 times. lol

The profession grind I thought was a good idea. If they would have kept it a secret. The holos ruined it. It was such a mystery as to how players got jedi, did they visit certain spots, etc.?!?
Instead of holos the mysterious voice could have said something after you Mastered a profession, like You feel a connection to the force each time you master a profession related to your jedi unlock. Plus, I thought that the professions you mastered that were related to jedi unlock you got a bonus, like say you Mastered Carbineer, maybe you would get a Enhanced Ranged Def mod even after you surrendered the profession. So maybe after you mastered all your professions you would have little bonuses to your main char. And jedi be left to the alt char.

BUT, when everyone started grinding professions I think A LOT of people would have had jedi IF they didn't change to the village method. Then it was like telling those people who did grind some professions to start again. And some I think gave up.

While the original idea of this post is very interesting, I am completely opposed to any path for Jedi where I have to rely on another player to get me into the loop. Sorry but that leads to too many chances of griefing and exploits.

Prime example, "I will arrest you for 1 billion credits" No thanks,as much as I hate the grind,at leastI determine my future not another player.

Other than this I think your idea is very promising, just should be NPC not PC that do the arresting.

If I remember the posts in the original thread the author of the idea said that griefing would not happen since the inquitioners are depending on other players for their advancement.

i like the idea of the relationship to real SW mythology rather than inventing new characters. Hopefully we can get this passed around a lot.

don't forget that jedi had numerous revamps, including one major revamp in two phases, and that specific revamp took the place of most used/wanted revamps, starting by smuggler revamp, planned for more than one year ago and delayed cause of jedi revamp, it also includes ranger revamp, squad leader etc...

jedi at first was 5 professions to master (random from the 33 minus politician) one perma death (then three), fixed template

then there were all those patches, jedi changes, the village (players asked for a way to get jedi without changing template, and the village fits this request at 100%), more template possibilities etc...

it's en-ough, jedi was meant to be a "bonus" for dedicated players, now I see players that don't know anything bout the game, players that are 2 weeks old, going for jedi, how fun could it be ? I too am going my way to jedi, but I spent 1 year and half playing the game doing all templates I wanted, tried all that could be tried, and now, I'm getting jedi, grinding slowly with pikes and I'm already happy cause I can do it this way.

what I mean, is that the path to unlock is a good thing, then once unlocked, I'm sure if we had more experienced players, there wouldn't be such problems of xploiters, harrasers u83r r0xx0rzz k1dz etc... 90% of the jedi I meet are all about r0xx4g3 while they're supposed to be the most dedicated players in the game, they're not more than "super TKM" showing off with red neons and black robes, just like if they were "superior" or something. that's the main problem to jedi IMO. the unlock path is cool, as far as I know, the trees are cool too, only a few things are not. LIKE IN ANY OTHER PROFESSION. wanna check the usefull things you get as master smuggler ? as Master Ranger or Squad LEader ? wanna compare with jedi skilltree ?

I don't have much against the village in generall. The quests which people have to take to unlock Jedi Initiate are quite fun to do. It does however have more or less NOTHING to do with the starwars mythology which most of us love. And besides that there is the monotone and brainless grinding a player have to do to fill the branches. Running around and killing a bug here, an overgrown cat there. It is quite BORING and doesn't link at all to the way which jedi in the film/novels make a connection with the force.

You have all seen the idea above for a quest based FS path. Does any of you have another idea of how to make one?? Please help us make the FS path into the time consuming and fun experience we all want it to be.

wich has nothing to do with starwars mythology is to see vader and palpatine for one side, and thousands of jedi hanging out everywhere on the other side.

starting with this, I don't think the village and all that revolves around it is that much innapropriate.

it's just the way it is, either enjoy it or not, it could be worse

Jedi Path Revamp - this is how i would do them

There are two really easy solutions here, one: Progress the story forward to after the rebellion wins and Vader and the Emperor are dead. Light side Jedi can be trained by Luke Skywalker. Dark Jedi By the Insane Jedi Master Jorus C'Baoth. This solves the continuity issues (for a LARG part) and solves where the Jedi fit in and their purpose.

Second is similar but does not solve completely where the Jedi fit in Time wise.

Dark Jedi are recruited by Jedi Master Jorus C'Baoth, who would send them on test’s some time based, some quest based, others would be survival endurance tests. C'Baoth is an un accounted for character in the EU/Movies for his time during the rebellion. Jorus C'Baoth is the INSANE clone of a Jedi master who was one of Palpatines personal advisors to the Jedi Council. He turns up in the EU after years of guarding a store house the emperor left behind.

So Master C'Baoth would make the Dark Jedi prove their loyalties to him and the dark side. Master C'Baoth is a twisted Jedi so there for he would be perfect to train the new Dark Jedi Knights, his view of the Jedi is that they are superior to non force wielders and that even force wielders who cannot use their powers correctly are a waste unless he trains them.

Light Side Jedi could be trained by a disciple of the Jedi someone who had started down the road as a Padawan but escaped the purge because of a force vision, they eventually learned the rest of the path through Holocrons and through some various archives that were mostly destroyed. They gained enough knowledge to send others down the same path of discovery. They act more as a guide then a Jedi Master. This explains why Yoda and Obi-wan Kenobi knew nothing of their existence. It can even be a person who was inadvertently saved because of Obi-Wan’s efforts. This character would make the Light side search out artifacts, holocrons, and other items and then would help them prepare for the Jedi trials. Certain tasks would be quest based or time based. They would learn to craft their lightsaber’s under his tutelage. This character is easily created and would be even easier to explain then a whole village of force users who avoid their detection because of the force covering their presence, when a second rate hack like Mallichae…who shouldn’t be able to find them if the Emperor doesn’t know they even exist.

Let me know what you all think… but this is my opinion. Well me what you like or don’t like

OK i dont care what anyone says, to be one of the most powerful players in the game (aka jedi) is not hard at all. Im doing force sensitive primiraly for the extra slot just cause its so frekkin easy. I speed 5 mill on my supplies and grind for 2 weeks, lol.... omg its soooo hard.

That's the thing: if you have the time to play all day every day, you probably have the wherewithal to afford the more expedient grind methods, and the time to burn into XP rather quickly. What kills me, as someone with limited time for this, is that I can either gather cash or grind FS Xp, and while I am thrilled there are some accellerants available to the grind, having everything judged against the 40-100 hour a week player is wildly frustrating.

I quite understand that at the end of the FS grind, there is a longer, slower, tougher slog through with Jedi, but at that point, I'll be a Jedi. Albeit a very weak Jedi, but Jedi all the same. Another difference is that my eventual Jedi isn't ever likely to be one of the duelling clowns in MO that seem to be a fad. You'll not see my Jedi mainly because I am likely to remain an infrequent online presence.
