i said at one point that i would finish my FS grind asap with nades and then grind as many profs as possible before unlocking jedi, but alas, the CU bent that idea over a table and took a run up at it

I have been a commando since the game began,on this and my other primary character. We arent supposed to use the weapons of our profession? I guess a swordsman shouldnt use his acklay power hammer either right? To get to jedi we should all use cdef pistols so we can be as holy and omnipotent as all you who complain about the grenade grind. Isn't that how you got your character to where they are-by using the lowest most worthless weapon you can use? You didn't? You exploiter!!
You missed the point by a long shot.
I could care less about grenade grinding if the grenades didn't give an xp type that has a 10:1 advantage over every other profession in the game, compounded by the fact that grenades are LESS Jedi-ish than many other profs. Why should a Commando have a 10-fold advantage over everyone else to achieve Jedi?
If grenades gave Thrown Weapon Experience or something other than combat, you and I would have nothing to talk to about. Commando would be just any other profession, like it should be, instead of a min/maxer's fasttrack shortcut to a glowstick. Everyone's gaited by the 6 phases these days, but the fact that one profession's leverage is 10 times stronger than any other's for achieving the required work of those phases is just b0rkt.

The devs are responsible for the combat xp being 10 times better for commando, not the players. Instead of posting hate messages at the players,go hollar at the dev forums for doing it. This is one reason the CU is coming. Like I said I would rather hologrind to get jedi but I can't. I think the choice should have been given when the village thing started, pick how you want to get your jedi and then you are stuck with it. It is way more fun to do professions rather than spamming nades at baz nitch's, but it's the only way I have to get a jedi in a reasonable amount of time given my current play time so I am forced to do it. I don't like it and I know it's not the 'jedi way' but this is a game, not the movies, nothing in this game is consistent with the movies anymore so I don't even worry about that anymore.

I'm in the same boat. I feel like crap for doing it.

/cheer devs!!!! Finally putting a stop to the Jedi shortcutters!!!
Maybe the excessive overpopulation of Jedi is on a short leash now. Maybe we'll look back on the days when anyone with a week or two to spare and a couple mil creds could make a Jedi and laugh. Maybe the Jedi grind will actually be difficult again, like it should!
No more free Jedi for noobs!! yay!!!
Kauri isnt overpopulated with jedi anymore... most of em got banned for exploiting =)

I don't. It's the only way I can finish before the curb, and I don't apologize for playing, at the keyboard, in a developed system.

I tried throwing the C-12's around in the CURB and from last nights patch (which had the changes to nades) it seems no non-commandos cant throw any kind of grenade. (unless this is just a bug)

I found a more intersting way to grind with limited grenade use. Use all of your weapons and concentrate on combat XP. In two mind buffs I can hunt the sarlacc or other high level mobs and gain 2.1 million xp in 2.5 hours. Believe it or not I use c12 with powerups when I want to be lazy and do GBN. But I rely on my LLC, carbine, and pistol, all cap at 900K I usually turn in two weapons and combat and leave one open. Oh I am a casual grinder got 14 blocks in combat prowess done and banking the rest until I am ready to give something up.

Yeah,I would rather holo grind. I want to know what it's like to survey, craft, dance, etc but I dont want to take time off of grinding FS to do it. The holo grind was at least much more interesting.
But you can hologrind, if you want to. It's not real hologrinding, of course; no in-game device is telling you what prof to master next, but you can certainly master as many as you want before unlocking Jedi. You're not required to rush into Jedi as soon as you're allowed to do so by the game mechanics.
Personally, I finished my FS grind back in mid-February. I won't have my 6th unlock until this coming phase 3, so in the mean time I've been mastering professions left and right (read the sig! I only had master tk and master swords until I finished the grind, no nades). I intend to keep mastering professions until I've done *gulp* them ALL!! That includes all the entertainer and crafter profs.
Why?
Three reasons. For one, I like having all those badges on my character. Our game is so lacking of content that I've had to go really scrounging for something to do, and this particular endeavor gives permanent proof afterward. It's like a medal on a military uniform. Two, I don't want any pre-10 hologrinder to be able to come to me and say "You're not a real Jedi, look at all the professions I had to master to get here." My answer will be "Yep, look at all the profs I did and I did all the village crap too." Third is that they're fun, and make me a more experienced player! I would have never done Ranger and Creature Handler (ugh, horrible grind) had I just been a pvp min/maxer looking to rush into the end-game profession as quickly as possible, but now I know *how* to grind them and can share my experience with others later.
...like a true "Jedi" would do.
So I'm an idealist, that's all. I don't expect others to share or even respect my ideals, but I'll pursue them anyway. No, I will not take my exit quest as soon as I'm eligible. Not until my profs are done.
(I've also got 6 corvette badges, hero of tat, and a mess of others. I intend to get my remaining 3 vettes, my missing themepark, and 8 more pilot badges before I accept robe and saber, all on principle.)
So you can hologrind if you want to, duder, and I'll /tiphat to you if you do.
I love your mentalitly
I also love being knowledgeable about a wide variety of proffesions. I've mastered alot and spend alot of time learning about those I haven't or those I know less about. I've never really got involved in high end PvE or PvP mind you. I'll probably regrind all the proffesions I've mastered on my old avatar just for the badges, so I can show what I've done rather than just say I've done it![]()
I generally come across quite anti jedi, though it's more anti "I have to get my jedi asapeven thoughI know little about the rest of the game"
People like you are a breath of fresh air. Shame there are allready too many visible jedi for my liking, spoils my immersion alot...
