From the Commando forum, so I take no credit:

CURB Grenades and Weapons!

Look at the Imp, Thermal and Proton. Interesting state effects...it is not clear yet if you personally get affected by the DoTs..but I would say that grenades now appear to be a combat support weapon in groups, and you can kiss the grind goodbye.

/cheer devs!!!! Finally putting a stop to the Jedi shortcutters!!!

Maybe the excessive overpopulation of Jedi is on a short leash now. Maybe we'll look back on the days when anyone with a week or two to spare and a couple mil creds could make a Jedi and laugh. Maybe the Jedi grind will actually be difficult again, like it should!

No more free Jedi for noobs!! yay!!!

Quit ur jedi before talking about overpopulation.

You look noob itslef.

Grenade xping isnt shortcutters. noob.

Real noob believe pre9 jedi is real jedi. but I will tell u truth. Holo grinding wasn't hardest. If you are power gamer, u can make a jedi within 19weeks.

But now whatever u do, you can't make jedi within 19weeks.

Quit ur jedi. noob

You do realize that Grenades will no longer damage or affect the player who throws them in the CURB right?

I'm looking for the thread but this has been confirmed.

So I've heard, which is interesting. It'd be nice to be privy to the meetings in which game mechanics officionados make such decisions to see what their reasoning is. But with the severely nerfed damage output and speed, it should finally be the case that nade grinding is no longer an attractive shortcut alternative for the real thing.

The current Jedi path is senseless enough as it is; it's just frustrating to see people take advantage of it by huckin' nades at giant baz nitches. It's just so stupidly inconsistent, you know? Throwing grenades at wild creatures is the path to training in the Force?? There's nothing "Jedi" about thermal grenades or the mass slaughter of millions of wild creatures. Someone explain to me how this makes any sense at all.

Oh, and to the baby impy pilot that just registered a month ago, I don't think anyone here said anything about hologrinding being superior, and all of my professions are post-11. And I'm not a Jedi, so when you say "KWIT UR JEEDAI NOOB" or whatever your f'ed up English was, I /pointat you and /giggle.

I called you a baby impy, Junior. Now run along and play shoot-em-up in your tie thingy. LOL

This may be the case..in fact, if you think about it...if a grenade can apply a special or state at 20m..you would hit yourself each time. The issue is that a player can't take a 5 creature aggro and live, I don't think.

you say throwing nades at GBN is nothing force related, but neither is standing in a lair spamming spin attack. But i'm not gonna get into another debate with you about nading cuz you know my opinions and i know yours. i do agree with you that this path to jedi is pointless. i would much prefer it to be like the hologrinding again. Unfortunately, i was not around pre 9, so have missed out on the actual comparison, but to me it sounds a lot more "force like" and also a lot more fun.

I love people whining about the grenade grind to jedi. Sooo,if someone is commando, they aren't supposed to do it either? I have been a commando since the game began,on this and my other primary character. We arent supposed to use the weapons of our profession? I guess a swordsman shouldnt use his acklay power hammer either right? To get to jedi we should all use cdef pistols so we can be as holy and omnipotent as all you who complain about the grenade grind. Isn't that how you got your character to where they are-by using the lowest most worthless weapon you can use? You didn't? You exploiter!!

Yeah,I would rather holo grind. I want to know what it's like to survey, craft, dance, etc but I dont want to take time off of grinding FS to do it. The holo grind was at least much more interesting.

No sir, no debate necessary, I totally agree. Spamming spin on a lair is still a mass slaughter of thousands of innocent wildlife and not at all consistent with Star Wars canon. I feel that wielding a weapon is *more* Jedi-like and suiting of a pre-Jedi requirement than thermal grenades and flame throwers and the like. I don't endorse the current Jedi path sans grenades, although given the personal choice (which I feel to be a moral one) of to use nades or not, I choose not.

And I don't fault the players that do use them. I fault the devs for so freely handing out combat xp, 10x more valuable than any other weapon type, to a profession that's arguably the least Jedi-themed of all combat profs.

Just so we're clear. I respect you and your opinion a great deal, but I felt the need here to clarify my own.
