Is this a problem? Why don't you spend the time hunting in a group? Problem solved...

I fail to see what people are talking about when they go on about how one shouldn't go FS untill you're "prepared" by being cl Mucho. Sure, if you happen to be such an annoying person that you're unable to make friends in an online game I suppose that's a good tip, but otherwise? Come again? Huh?

I'm in no way "prepared" and I'm doing just fine.

Get the badges to make the old man visit me- Check! Wasn't harder than sending a tell to a few friends and ask them if they felt like going themepark hopping to pass the time.

Get the old man toshow up- Check! Wasn't harder than... well... I didn't have to do anything at all realy. For those that refuses to accept that he's simply on a random timer, my tips to making him show is to do what I did:

  1. Spend half a day getting drunk in the local cantina.

  2. Spend the other half throwing a fit in your home (must be on Corellia) cussing at some relatives because they want you to take it easy after your heart attack and thus wont let you get drunk in the cantina no more.

  3. Log.

  4. Log in between 8-12 hours later.

  5. Spend between 1-2 hours crafting ship components for acustom order (Rumour says that Droid Engineer works too, but it's not confirmed)

  6. Sneak outside when the relatives are busy. Talk to the old man that will now spawn.

Survive the Sith Shadows - Check! Just tell everyone in town you've recieved a death threat. Enjoy the protection of your worried relatives and friends whenever you go outside. OR if you have no friends, just spend all online time till they show upp OOC hunting in a group and tell the group you are expecting a visit from some shadows so they wont loot them by mistake. Boy, THAT was hard!

Take out the Sith Camp - Check! Let everyone know you were attacked and that you have found out where the twits responsible for the death threats are hiding. Go take the camp out with your friends and relativeswho will be very upset with said twits. OR just ask your friends OOC to help you with one pesky camp. If you have no friends, stop playing. *shrugs*

Go to the Village - Check! Now this one can be tricky. The key is to NOT aim for the red dots appearing on your radar.

Well that's where I am now more or less. Just unlocked the experimentation branch by the clever use of credits, something that it's virtualy impossible to spend faster than you earn in SWG. Bought Aurilian Containers for less than 2 millions and I was all done. Now I'll just grind crafting xp for a day and then I'll wait for the next phase. After this I'll do the same with assembly and technique and then I'm done. Don't have to visit the village ever again. Why grind three more branches just to get the extra character slot when I can go out and buy it if I'd ever feel the need for an alt?

Now, how was it a dumb idea for me to do this without raising my combat level? Come again? Huh?

Jedi are a large part of the "end game", and they are a combat class. You need to have high combat skills, go level up. If you say "but I don't want to devote all my sp to combat", well you'll be doing exactly that once you're through FS.

Personally I think the sith should be much tougher.

Or if you're realy serious about it and the problem is more related to having friends that are unwilling to let you tag along wherever they go while you wait for the shadows to show than it is to not having friends at all (online. I'm talking online here):

  1. Don't log in for at least 72 hours. Or spend the next 72 hours playing on another server. Make sure you log outwhile inside your house.

  2. Set up a date with either a cl 80 friend or several friends of lower cl. If you will be playing on another server use cross server tells.

  3. After at least 72 hours have passed, log in. Have your friend/friends stand outside your house as you do.

  4. Form a group.

  5. Walk outside.

Enjoy...

For the sith do what my friend did . Stay near a rebel base (or if your imp stay at one ) one of the small out posts away from town . He waited there , they spawned , he tagged both a couple times and the rebels took them out . He was able to loot them and he was done

This is exactly how to do it. And regardless of your combat profession, get a rifle you can use and put damage on each Sith while your CL80 buddy keeps their attention and ultimately kills them.

Easy as pie. I've now done this with 3 people (I'm the CL80) and have had zero problems in taking out the two 77's myself while the glowy-to-be just did regular weapon damage from 60+ meters away to them.

I've even thought of advertising my services in this. As a MBH, Jedi-ranching is a great way to insure that their will always be Jedi to hunt.....

After you get the old man visit, simply place a small house out of town. Sit inside, and when the sith arrive they can't come in and get you. After they arrive call your backup, send them a waypoint to your house, group, and let them take them down. The most important thing is make sure you are the only one that loots the sith, and only do it after both are dead. After looting, the datapad will give you the location of the sith camp. Since your lackeys are already with you - go take out the3 sith there, again only you can loot. Now you have the village waypoint go visit, but be prepared to die very often at low level. If the Nightsisters, Rancor or any of the other wildlife dont kill you on the way there - the missions will. Good Luck.

Well, I left Dec. 3rd and like I promised I came back to give you another chance.
So Sony, impress me with the new system - not good enough, back to WoW 3/06 !
I am back again 3 months later giving you 1 last chance.
Looks like I will be staying, keep up your hard work.
zzzzz - cancelled - zzzzz - again - zzzzz - someone wake me up from this nightmare

All you stupid, stupid people need to stop equating that FS = Jedi. FS does NOT equal Jedi! Many people who want the crafting and healing bonuses that FS gives aren't interested in becoming a Jedi, only in improving their own professions, and yes, the programmers originally designed it with non-combat professions in mind as well, hence the entire Crafting Mastery tree! They do need to tone down the Sith thugs that jump you and the sith camp. They can keep the Sith during the combat missions of the village the same CL, so that gives all you combat monkeys a challenge.

None of the people who have replied are "stupid"... they are just equating, as you put it, fs to jedi because the poster is a fully combat template. Which is appropriate to do in this situation. And if you're such a smart guy...why can't you figure out that are you have to do is get in a group? You crafting monkey. Monkey send group invitation... monkey go with group.. monkey watch kill.. monkey loot.. monkey go to village.. durrr... monkey can do!

When they made it possible to unlock jedi through doing crafting quests they made it jedi possible for everyone. This new CL is highly unfair for the crafters out there.

However I managed to get FS and gain access to the village recently at level 7. Firstly people don't need to stand by you all day but if you have the support of a high level friend you should group with them and then wait inside a house. When the sith came for my CL 7 character and he was in a house they could not attack (private house) get your friend to come asap and kill the sith who are standing there circling you. It may mean waiting around for a few hours in a house but its not a big deal. Then loot the data pad and travel to near the camp. Have your high CL friend kill the sith.

Its not the ideal way and they should fix this for the crafters but meh, it gets you village access.
