In my opinion, you acted in very much a Jedi-like manner (assuming you're aspiring to the Light side) and in any case, I applaud your actions.
The other player was, unfortunately for you, playing a part as well, especially if he was on the side of the Empire. In RP terms, I applaud his actions. As a player knowing the trials and tribulations Jedi go through (I'm not one, at least not yet, though I read the Jedi boards and am sympathetic to their plight), it's unfortunate he caused you loss.
