Thread: why can we convert Pilot XP into FSXP

Yeah, Politician XP is convertable and does not take Skillpoints, but it's you get XP passively, and cannot really "grind" it.
Personally, I've been wondering this myself for awhile. People say it's "easy" to get Space Prestige, but, really, is it any easier than ground xp?
For a Tier 5 fighter, you get, what, about 8000 prestige? For a level 82 mob, you get about the same XP, no? One on one, they probably take close to the same amount of time to kill, depending on your equipment.
I think somewhere between 30-1 and 50-1 would be a reasonable conversion rate for Prestige. It would still take people quite a bit of time to grind out millions of that XP to convert to all the FS XP you need.
But, like someone pointed out, at least it would be fun.
I agree, it should then give ppl not able to play at maintime an option to grind fs xp also. I think reflex and combat fs xp should be good options for it. But i can see the logic behind crafting and sense xp also. Use the Force Luke, and you see a weakness you can aim on it could fit in both combat and sense, then see them shift weaponry and upgrade the ships can be crafting. For those who say pilot xp are to easy to get would i say it is easier to get xp in a spinn group. More options to the boring grind is good or we get more ppl burned out and insane.
Fein out
Saying the Devs claim to want to "keep the ground and space games separate" is pretty lame. Any way you cut it, they ARE connected, and rightly so. They are the same game. You need to land to talk to your trainers and mission givers. You need to shop for chasis and components on the ground. And a bunch of the RotW quests even mix ground and space aspects together.
This is a GOOD thing! I thinkmost players will say they WANT more interaction between ground and space. It seems somewhat unnatural that they are often treated astwo completelydifferent games.
So, for those of you skeptics still out there, let's do a little math.
To unlock all 6 FS branches needed to unlock Jedi, you need 7,450,000 FS XP.
(Say, 4,950,000 Combat and 2,500,000 Reflexes.)
Let's say we go with the same converstion rate as weapons, 30-1.
Multiply 7.45 million by the 30 times you'll need worth of Space Prestige, and you get a whopping 223.5 million Prestige Points.
Divide that by the 8000 or so you get for killing a Tier 5 fighter...
And it will take approximately 27,938 kills to earn enough Prestige Points to unlock Jedi.
Even if you kill 100 fighters a night, every night, that will still take you 280 days.
I think we can lay the "It'll be too easy to unlock using Prestige Points"myth to rest.

Excuse me but 8000 lets try something else. I hunt teir 5 Imperial gunboats when I am faction farming. They pay out 240 faction and 32K+ per kill in kessel they are easy prey.
Okay, some revised math, for gunboats:
Divide that by the32,000 or so you get for killing a Tier 5 Gunboat...
And it will take approximately6,985 kills to earn enough Prestige Points to unlock Jedi.
Even if you kill50gunboats a night, every night, that will still take you140 days, almost 5 months.
Give the buggers an inch, they'll take a mile.
Jedi get no special treatment in the cold, harsh depths of space.
Like it or not, jedi have invaded space already (or are supposed to have, but it's bugged and doesn't work-jsut like mos other things post cu) specifically with teh reflex fs tree of vehicular controll. This "should" affect the handleing of your space ship's turn rate and acceleration. I was an idiot when I got that tree, and didn't run tests before and after (like timeing how long it took to spin 10 times full circle or to drag race say 1k meters for acceleration) but there might be a slight improvement on the turn rates, it at least seems more responsive after getting that branch. (could be getting older and slower, so it jsut seems faster, I wish I actually times turn rates and stuff so I knew if it did or didn't affect it). and on the subject of quadruple exp, I do get that, but only while grinding. once I'm ace (again) I go back to normal exp values per kill only it's called prestige. that extra bonus jsut makes it so the 4 mil grind durring the 4444 grind goes real fast.
Final note (though it's now disabled-dam soe **modbot**) you could use space to grind fs exp for reb and imp, but not neutral by useing the recruiter to train you cashing in faction points for exp. I want taht back so bad....
I don't think Jedi should get any kind of special powers in space. Keep space how it is - mostly player (not character) skill based.
I do think people should be able to trade in Space Prestige Points for Force Sensitive XP.

imho its coz' pilot xp is too easy to get. especially if your remastering pilot profs, but even if you decide not to remaster, you can suck in the xp doing tier 4 duties.
And how is this any different from sucking in the xp doing level 80 missions on the ground?

No. Keep this Jedi rubbish out of space.

This is why the vast majority of pilots are opposed to any off this jedi trollop infesting space.

Uhm, Jedi are already infesting space. Usually in their annoying "Jedi Starfighters".
If Prestige Points were able to be converted into Force Sensitive XP, yes, you might get some new people in space grinding through their FS. But I'm willing to bet that the vast majority would stay on the ground, where they are comfortable and familiar with the best ways to earn XP.
As I pointed out above, grinding out FS in space with a conversion ratio around 30-1 would NOT be any faster than doing it on the ground. It would just be more fun.
