every1 has a right to be a Jedi...lets jus gratz the one who made it there and give the ones who are trying to become on a lil push in the back..i meen jeez being Jedi is the "special" thing in this game so lets not make it harder but just keep it the way it is... Realy realy easy, with no challenge what so ever
Fixeth!
Personnally, I think they are addressing the problem that paying customers are complaining about too manyJediby slowly creating a system that discourages Jedi visibility. You cannot tell a paying customer he cannot be a Jedi, but you also cannot tell a paying customer where to get off when he complains about too many jedi. Simple solution: KEEP THEM OUT OF SIGHT!
An primeexample of QFE if there ever was one. I emphasize the paying customer part because everyone seems to forget this is a business, not a democracy.
Yes I am currently FS and looking at how I am going to make it to Padawan. At this point I want the alt, and don't care about Jedi. That may change when I get there but I doubt it.
My beef with the Jedi population is not that they exist. Everyone has the equal opportunity and right to pursue that path since we all subscribe to the same game and pay the same amount for it. What I object to is the VISIBILITY of so many Jedi. Its almost impossible to visit Mos Eisley, Theed, Coronet or the Mining Outpost on Dantooine without seeing at least 2 Jedi dueling. Now, I know that once you get to Full Template there is nothing more to do, and I know that many people want Jedi just so they can flash it in other people's faces and not because they want to actually be a Jedi, and I know the majority want it simply because its better than any other class and they can "pwnz0r" with it (ie they like to have the odds all on their side in a fight). A few are roleplaying Jedi no doubt, but I probably never see those folks.
What I would like to see is some major changes to make being a Jedi in public a BAD THING. Then there can be as many Jedi as their are players (almost there now) but you won't see them. That would be in keeping with the spirit of the canon, and would provide a negative side to Jedi in a very minor way. SOE has let the Jinni out of the bottle and nothing is going to put it back in again. There is simply no way to reduce the population - and SOE has no interest in that because it is a major selling point. So given that every player seemingly wants to be a Jedi, let them, but make it so that they have to worry about being hunted down, so that they find the world at large hazardous and risky, and thus must hide their true identity most of the time.
Give us swarms of NPC troops who descend on any Jedi who flashes his lightsaber in Coronet, or openly wears the banned robes etc. BHs are one element that causes a Padawan some fear but full template Jedi have much less to worry about I am sure, and many are *waiting* for the BH to attack. So make the negative element of being exposed in a major NPC City something that cannot be defeated.
Since this is the Jedi fanboy section, I hate to rain on your parade, but in the beginning SOE did not "intend" for Jedi to be running around in the numbers that exist now. Unfortunately once they established a known path to include even the hologrind, they abandoned that plan, possibly unintentionally. I just wish they had left becoming a Jedi a mystery like it was between them saying "The path to Jedi is currently in the game" to them giving us the hologram fiasco. What if becoming FS did not have a clearly defined path? Wouldn't it be cool to have enjoyed playing over the last year or two and suddenly have the old man run up to you without you expecting it?
Anyhow, there are too many Jedi. You can play as you like, because you "pay just like I do." To the OP:
1. How can you barely see Jedi? They are in every grinding group on Dant / Lok. They swarm all over the Ryatt Trails. There are at least 1-2 at every starport. There are 1-2 in every major city to include player cities. You are joking right?
2. Agree.
3. Jedi, their alts, and their fanboy crowd of guildies and FS grinders are everywhere. As a BH I am constantly bombarded with hate tells and banned from cities "just because I am a BH." I can walk into a vendor to buy some starship gear, something completely unrelated to being a BH, and get banned for being in the same town as a Jedi "safe haven." This does effect my gameplay. Have I learned to live with it? Yes. But you are wrong thinking that the Jedi infusion does not effect the gameplay of others. The number of Jedi also effects you, the wannabe Jedi. Combat xp is getting nerfed for all classes because of previous Jedi. Ryatt Trail is getting nerfed because of previous Jedi. Slicing has been changed to specifically combat Jedi saber armor break. The list goes on, while not all bad changed, they are changes that are implemented because of the huge population of Jedi and they effect us all. So the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" arguement is no even closely applicable to Jedi.

1: I don't see it. I very rarely see jedi at the mo and while i do see jedi everyday its because they are in my guild.
2: If you are a jedi then you really have no business complaining about the number of jedi because you could always delete your character if you think there are too many.
3: To all the rest who think there are too many jedi. So? Are they hurting you? Does it take away from your enjoyment of the game? And if so, learn to loosen up. IMO, anyone who pays for an account has the right to play anyway they want as long as they are willing to put in the work involved. I have no business complaining about the number of jedi because I myself am on the way to becoming one.
So in closing, even though I know this plea will fall on deaf ears; stop trying to rain on everybodies parade. You don't see us complaining about there being too many doctors or tk's or bounty hunters.
I agree with you that there is too much jedi visibility. Personally, I am looking forward to concealing my identity as a jedi, once i unlock, only pulling my lightsaber when I intent to use it. To me that is half the fun of it, pretending to be on the run from the empires death squads and unscrupulous bounty hunters.
I would be all in favor of a system that rewards clever jedi and punishes foolish ones. I'm just not sure that SOE would ever do that.

Amen to that! And to the BH poster, I am MBH too, anmd working towards jedi, but being a BH also makes me the "scum of the galaxy" we will get banned and questioned by others even though we are just passing through a shuttle or working on looting some stuff from NPC's. It is just part of the profession. I also expect the same treatment when I do unlock, or maybe it makes me a better candidate for jedi because I am used to sneaking through towns and starports. Who knows. I would be all in favor of a system that does reward those that try to keep vis low, and maybe it does already by not putting us one the terms, what do you think?
