Yep, its sure an artificial way to determine things. I am only 1/3 of the way through to Jedi - mostly because the gameplay was so f**king boring I couldn't bear wasting my time doing it, so I took it slowly.
However I have mastered 16 separate professions, some of them several times over (ie Merchant at least 3x, Droid Engineer 2x, Creature Handler 2x I think) and been playing off and on since day 1. Yet I will be considered less "Elder" than some f**knuts who bought the game 3 months ago and spent most of his time afk grinding on the Kashyyk trail or in spin groups on Dantooine, or afk macroing Musician to get FS experience in the village. its pretty lame really.
Seriously, some people are missing the point here.
1. Respecing into a Jedi doesn't give me the same feeling of achievement I would have had if I had finished a hard grind to finaly recieve my reward.
2. Now I won't be able to get the extra character slot I've been working for for over 6 months.
3. I hate the fact that I'm being treated as a lesser player because I spent time during my FS grind enjoying other things this game has to offer which has in fact made me a better player than I would have been if I had spent the last few months only grinding every day.
4. Would I have been told this change was to occur at least 1 month previous to it going live, I would have been done by now easy. But like I said I spent more time questing and interacting with ohther players.
Now all of you pre-CU-1337-jedi people can sit around calling me a noob or whatever but, it's not me who is the noob, it's those jedi that know nothing about this game except for grinding (I don't care about that everyone should play how he/she likes). So don't give me any stupid "you can respec to jedi" crap cause that's not what this is about.
Some people went for jedi for the second character slot on the same server and not for the glow stick.
Those going for their saber will be fine with these changes, they get what they wanted but those trying to grind out the second character are getting shafted.
There needs to be a system either:
1) Allowing those in the village to finish grinding out the second character
2) A 'loyal member' reward for all force sensitive in the village of a second character as in reality they would have all got there eventually
3) A veteran reward option of 'second character slot'
Of the above option 1 is the most rewardign as people earn this extra character slot. Option 2 is easier to implement and could lead to a greater diversity in professions as more people will be able to have more characters on the go from the start. Option 3 although easy to implement will mean that the next batch of players who havent grinded through the village also get a second character.
Whatever the devs choose they need to remember the people that worked hard for something that isnt a glow stick and are not getting reward for their investment.

you can cap multiple weapons, some of which you dont even need the prof they were meant for to grab 200k out of...
I did it pre-cu with TKM and master swordsman, thats just 2 900k caps with (and ill give it to you here this is worse) 100k FS after combat, but thats still only 160k per trip, and it took an hour to cap, so every three trips i had to wait in line and spend more credits to get buffed, this could take 20-25 minutes as evidenced by the mind buffs, and if you didn't spend millions on the right food then you were SOL grinding wise...
Sorry bucko, it was still easier back then. BTW...if ytou are not trained (profession does not use item), you max out on experience at 10k /weapon, which equals a whopping 333 FS points. We also have to deal with the combat XP nerf too...from 3:1 to 30:1. I would deal with the round trips for better XP return than what I am dealing with now.
I expect such nonsense from a 'I already have mine' player.
