Jedi was undesirable (for me) pre-CU because the other professions were more engaging. Now, I feel there is nothing left to do in the game except grind out jedi.

that sounds familiar.... perhaps not to the degree you described, but anyone in this board remember the days of the hologrind....? one major advantage that this "glowy" BS cannot capture, is the process of learning the functions of each profession, effectively training you against every profession as well as forcing that wisdom which is characteristic to a jedi to begin with... i say bring back the hologrind, i'd love to see these noobs grind out 30 professions in 5 days..... just to grind jedi.... at least you learn something in the process
Sure thing, you learn how to AFK grind all the professions, get the badge, and then promptly drop all skills until you get the coveted message that you have unlocked.

I agree, it is getting more undesirable. Not only for the grind (I would expect a hard grind to be honest) but because a lot of Jedi/FS grinders (but certainly not all - please don't flame lol) deonstrate a lack of maturity, game knowledge and general decency -- the Jedi "class" is fast becoming associated with l33td00ds and the like. For example I just left a group where both of the FS grinding healers (yes they had healer icons next to their names too) refused to heal becasue they did not need heal xp. I do not want to be constantly mixing with this kind of player, as seems to be the case at the moment.
I was grinding FS just to unlock the free character slot, but now I dont really think it is worth it, and reopened and old accountAnd besides, I really love my template as it is
I totally agree that getting rid of the free character slot would make the population far less btw.
I agree about some of the jedi you speak of. However I know a lot of jedi and the one thing that you don't see them doing is standing in starports dueling, or healing people, etc. As a Jedi you should be in hiding, not showing everyone that you are a jedi. and then whine when a BH comes and kills you.

I just want that second character slot.
Roger that. I am working on FS skills right now to get the 2nd slot, Jedi be dammed. I have no interest in Jedi whatsoever - who wants to be associated in any way with the puling foul-mouthed pathetically ignorant wretches I see daily at starports dueling each other after making incomprehensible challenges to each other? I know not all Jedi are that way - I have met many, many nice intelligent players behind Jedi characters so far and have several on my friends list - but the most visible Jedi are often seemingly subhumanly stupid and ignorant. I don't want to be associated with them in any way, shape or form.
Besides, the only thing to do as a Jedi is PvP. I have no interest in the PvP in this game at this point. I haven't so far since I started, so I doubt I will develop an interest just because I roll up a Jedi.
But a SECOND CHARACTER SLOT - now you are talking. SOE can offer no greater prize to me the confirmed altaholic than a second character slot - something any other game would give you automatically of course - so here I am dropping my entire very successful crafting business so I can grind up a Combat Template and kill 10million bols to prove I am worthy to handle the Force (after all we saw Luke Skywalker slaughter 10,000 lizards to gain his Lightsaber right?). When I get Padawan, and the 2nd slot, I am returning to crafting. My alt will be the physical type who goes out and explores.

I agree that the hologrind should be brought back. The ease with which you can get jedi now is just insane. I WAS working towards a jedi character, but the shear number of them that are out there is a turn off. Now, I am quite happy being a Master Commando, but I still want another character to mess around with without having to have another account.

Oh I was referring to FS grinders actually in our group with healer tags up and refusing to heal wounded and injured group members becasue they wanted full weapons xp, not Jedi healing in SPs etc.

FS people have abusedthe Commando professionand have suffered for it.
FS people abusing the Jedi profession to get a second slot should suffer a worse fate.

I think it depends on what you want out of Jedi. If you want to be some uber killing machine maybe it isn't as desirable as it once was. If you just want to have fun while playing an iconiccharacter type then I think it still has massive attraction. Besides...the additional character slot will always be desirable even if beinga Jedi holds no attraction at all for somebody.
