All the boxes have xp in them, but this is just to show where the xp can be allocated in theory, you don't have that much per line Before you can train in those boxes, you must do the Quests that allow you to 'unlock' the branch and train the skills. The first one available is Combat Prowess: Ranged Accuracy, the Captains Quest involving patrols.

so I just killed mellichae, it said I completed the quest and was ready to start the padawan trials. The problem is I am not an initiate. I don't think I actually touched mellichae, cuz the jedi in our group was soloing him while we took out the crystals and the guards. Did I mess this up or do I wait for the old man again or what??

I did not read through all the 6 pages.. but I am really confused now.. What I understood is, that there are 4 trees. Each tree has 4 branches which makes 16 branches at all..

If you complete a quest, one branch of a defined tree will be unlocked. Right?
You convert normal xps into force xps. With the force xps you can train in defined branches.
What I saw today was, that I can gain xps within branches I did not 'unlock'. But if I check me xp progress window, it shows me that I earn xps (well converted xps).. Would that mean, that I can't learn a skill of such a branch without completing the quest first?
