I do not support this. It is obsurd. There are many problems with it which I will say (keep in mind I've only read your idea). First off there will be so many people that almost completed the village that will be mad and probably quit although we would get throught that since its happend before. What about Imp FS? what will happen with them and the invasion? The quests would be bugged to the ground. It would take sooo much work for the designers and basically everyone which they arn't going to waste tons of money one. It dosn't fix the problem that 1/3 of the people have for making getting FS harder. And plenty more but anyways...
Level 40+? that's not really hard to get. I love KOTOR but come on, this is basically a copy of it with some scene changes and multiplayer. It probably wouldn't fix the showing off because noobs could get a saber in a month, maybe less. Then it wouldn't matter if your on top of the BH list because you'd get bumped down in 3 seconds. The "Enclave" would be destroyed by people showing off. I don't like the idea of whichever melee weapon your better at but some people might love that, I don't. (I may have skipped this I dont know) There would have to be a system to make it easy to getJedi Master before this system went up otherwise you couldn't complete it. You'd be traveling with a small squadren of jedi? Would that be like stormtroopers you can get from recruiters?
It dosn't sound that long besides the one week grind which is nothing.
And the Death Star over Dathimar? Why would it be there if it wasn't going to blow the planet up? It would. It blew up alderaan which was peacful lol. They would veiw dathimor as a dump planet with no use to the galaxy, even if it did have a use.
What's up with defending the village when 1: You would have gotten a message saying it's destroyed 2: It would be destroyed anyways?
A lot of it has to do with copying KOTOR. I know they are bringing the HK droid in the new expansion but I wish they would've keped KOTOR out of SWG.
People think the village has nothing to do with SW? What do bols have to do with SW?
I hate to be a troll but these are my ideas which I may have overlooked things but think of me as an editing troll![]()
I like the orginal idea of making Jedi story-mission based. After obtaining your 'Glowly', you are contacted by the old man, and he proceeds to train you just as Obi-wan started to train Luke. You go through missions/trails that he gives you, and you increasingly become more powerful in the force, until you achieve the rank of jedi initiate, which you would go through more quests to become a padawan, and even through more quests for you to become a Jedi. Make them interesting and unique for each character. The idea of having 50 different teir 1 missions which you need 20 to become eligable to become a Jedi Initiate would be nice, then 60-70 of which you need 30 to become eligable to bcome a padawan, and 100 of which you need 40 to become eligable to beceome a Jedi Knight. And it could be dependent on how the chracter is developing. If for instance you are more of a lightsabre combat person, you will have more combat missions, while a person who balances things out will have equallity in mission types, and a more powers oriented person might have more delievery missions, talking and figuring out missions. Once you finish each teir of missions you have have a themepark type of missions as was suggested, which should take at least 3-5 days. That many missions plus that time, you would gaurantee that it would take at least 4 months to become a fully fledged Jedi.
The reason I am recomending this is I play Star Wars Galaxies because I had enough of the over the board changes happening in my last MMORPG. I decided to take the character idea I had for one of my characters there and transfer him to SWG. When the summer goes off, I know that unless I become very motivated to play SWG, I will not have the gumption or drive to begin the force-senstive trials. The idea of 16 weeks opening up branches and grinding experience, probably 20-30 hours a week, is something that is not only unattractive, but it is also very likely impossible for me. I don't want to work 3 to 4 months upto christmas, with my scheduel, to start being force sensetive and than expect another 4 months, with a scheduel that will make it more like 6 months probably.
But how to offset this?
I like the idea of players being rewarded, players playing unique character, who are cleaver, and not just XP grinders. Make it more than 5-10 a month, maybe 1 per sever per week or more, and if there could be someway to submit your application to SOE that would even be batter. If your submission is rejected 5 times on any particular server, than you've been rejected for training - which is what happens - Anakin was rejected by the council for training, until Obi-Wan took him as an apprentice. You're force sensetive, but 'great dangers do we see in training you'.
One of the ways for SOE to weed out the undersireables is to set up a e-mail interviews as well as having a representative 'playing around the player'. Someone who joins groups, is sociable, works with other characters and newbies and role plays their character effectively is somebody put in the fast tract for Jedi training.
This will discourage the 'I wanna be an UB3R L33T J1D1!' crowd, because if they know part of the process is SOE ensuring they are the right kind of material to become a Jedi, they will probably decide not to apply - why apply when you know you will be rejected, while other characters in that crowd will probably start to smarten up and start thinking SWG as a MMORPG - which means you play with others in a social environment to have fun, and they will not go out and be idiots, hanging around star ports with their little gangs to 'show off'.
And the idea of the perma death, I like it, but make it like incaps vrs death - if you death count goes to 5 in a month you are permantely dead - but your death count lowers by 1 for every week of play(i.e. you have to be online).
lol, did I type Death Star over dath? I meant a star destroyer! rofl... Thx for the positive comments....
/bump
Sony Online Entertainment will probably pass the idea up. Im not being negative im being realistic. they already revamped the path once and jedi 3 times. I seriously doubt they will ever change it fomr the village since most of the player base agreed;d at the time of its conception it was "good enough"
