Exactly, if you made glowy after publish 9, no free unlocks for you. Period. All holocrons do now is restore a jedi's force bar, so don't go buying any thinking you will get a free unlock, you won't.

Free unlocks were credits for doing the holocron profession grind. Holocrons used to tell you what profession to master, and after you did 4 holocron professions it would go silent leaving you to guess the fifth and final profession.
Since there were 6 branches for the unlock now, and 5 professions back then, you would get an credit of unlocks past the second holocron profession you did, and if you unlocked previous to Publish 10 (when the Village went live), you would get all 6 branches unlocked.
You can only get holocrons if you meet all the following prerequisites:
1) You were active before June 29, 2004
2) You had mastered more than one holocron profession
The unlock code was a flag put in when Publish 9 went live...it no longer exists, therefore mastering professions do not give you any free unlocks, no matter how hard you beg, plead, or cry.

Ok I think I can shed some light on this subject as I played from the very first day and then stopped and restarted after they changed how you become a jedi.
Holo grind was the the very first way of becoming a jedi. Definition: You could loot/buy jedi holocorons and they would tell you to master a proffesion, and you would need to master your personal 5 profs. After mastering 4 profs your 5th Holocron would not tell you anything and it was a guess as to what prof would unlock your jedi. This is why it was called the holo grind because everyone was grinding exp towards the profs that the holocrons would tell them.
Heres the good and bad news. Some of the posts above are somewhat misleading. I did the holo grind before they changed over to the village system. I never unlocked as I quit before finding my 5th proffesion. I then came back to the game and got glowy under the new system. I did not start glowy, I started feeling a surge so I did get glowy under the new system. After doing what I had to do in order to get to the village I read about free unlocks. I received 3 free unlocks because I mastered enough proffessions pre jedi system change to warrant 3 unlocks. Free unlocks are possible BUT
In order to have free unlocks you must have mastered profs before pub 9 I believe. Im not positive on how unlocks are determined but I believe there is another thread that talks about that.
The Bad News: NO you cannot do something now in order to get free unlocks. They are ONLY given to those who mastered profs pre jedi system change.
The Good News: If you mastered any profs pre jedi system change you MAY have free unlocks available to you although it is not guaranteed.
i think it broke down like this
3 profs=1 unlock
4 profs=2 unlocks
etc etc

Free unlocks were awarded to people that played pre-pub 9 and went through the Holo-grind. They got credit for professions that they mastered, which transferred into free unlocks in the Village.

mastered proffs before the pub 9. If you dont have em, you wont get the free unlock.
