I did some of the hologrind, and I don't think either is better per se.

Hologrinding was quicker and less of a grind, but it forced you to do professions you likely never would have done otherwise. Carbineer was 3 months of my life I'll never get back.

The village is longer, but you can grind it using your chosen professions.

If you ask me, I think the hologrind would have been better. It would force people into learning about all the professions and all aspects of the game, and at the same time it would keep the path to jedi somewhat fresh and informative. So than when someone needs help with his/her profession, the jedi would always be somewhat help. Also I would like to know how killing thousands of bols and pickets takes you down the path to jedi? Thats just my opinion, I would rather learn some professions out there and experience the whole game versus grinding for 18 weeks.

Every day that I sit there and convert 1million xp to @ 33000 FS xp I kick myself for not finishing Hologrinding.

I like the idea of being able to become a Jedi with your main character, but I much prefer the Hologrind ability to do it "asap", rather than having to wait 3 weeks before you can move on to the next step.

All in all, I'll be a Jedi "someday" hopefully before I get sick of the game again and quit... again.

Came back for CU and am enjoying SWG once again.

Cheers

i did only 1 holo... got in game at like pub 6 but didnt really do much till like halfway through pub 8. no unlocks myself, but if i got even one, i would be jedi now, as i have 5 and cant do anything for phase 1 cause i did both.

also, hologrind taught jedi more about the game and made everyone who did it more knowledgable and more vet-like.

i also had more fun grinding through profs i wouldnt have done otherwise and grinding to learn more skills is better than grinding to get xp that wont help you for a while

Hologrind was more fun....

You got to play your classes if you kinda liked them, but at least you had an understanding of them and an appreciation of their abilities/limits.

It was also more fun thinnking....Ah ha im master will i get the sound of unlocking.

I mastered 28 profs and 13 or so months since publish 9 (Village) I am still not a Jedi

I prefered hologrinding for the simple reason that it was more social.

Even if a guildie or friend was grinding Jedi, they were still mastering actual professions and were able to contribute to the community. Example : a guildie needs a camo kit applied becasue his thug faction is too low to speak to a quest npc (used to happen with the Imp retreat quest) -- oh, so and so is a master ranger atm. The mayor needs a few more medium houses -- oh so and so is a master arch atm.

Grinding FS does nothing for the community. It leads people into unimaginitve FS friendly templates. It excludes lower level people who need groups from the comminuty.

I hologrinded, I find killing Bols more fun tho. Well I used to. Now I have a macro that shoots Bols for me while I do the housework. The game has become nothing to me now. I can't even stand to play it, hence the macros. I'm looking forward to Jedi, I can roleplay a bit and settle back into the game (i.e no more hardcore grinding)

You prefer this way becasue it is AFKable.

not really, profession grinding was more 'AFKable' - musician, dancer, WS, actually most non combat proffs. I like this way because I can keep my template to do guild stuff and semi afk - i still have to move between lairs etc... It's just a shame I have to do this. I've been playing since the start, I label myself as a casual gamer. Only thing left I want to try is Jedi and that requires me to become a hardcore player which I'm not going to do...

I hated the hologrind. The only good thing, for me, to come out of my brief stint as a hologrinder was that it introduced me to fencing. If they never changed the system away from the holo grind I doubt I'd ever become a jedi. I simply did not feel like spending my free time grinding out crafting profs.
