Glad you're back...
Basically you need to go to "the village" and talk to Paemos. He will tell you what unlocks you receive from your holo-grinding. . .
As for which ones to choose I will refer you to the FAQ at the top of the forums...that is what I used when I was faced with choosing the right branches.. . it is a very well written and informative...it should tell you everything you need to know
Doh..forgot about the old man...i think he gernal rul of thumb on his visit is to move around...go about your business and he'll find you

In addition to what trajen said, it is also helpful to be outside of the static cities when you are moving around and waiting for the old man to appear. Though no set time on his arrival. There is some helpful info in the guide that is stickied up top.

Also, choose your free unlocks wisely, or you may end up in a
phase that has no skill you want. The best advice I can give
is to go to jedi forums and read the Aurilla sticky very, very
thoroughly.

It works either way. If your just going to stand in one spot I'd suggest going to a player city and hang out there. Also you dont want to be totally AFK as you'll need to talk with the old dude when he appears

Looks like you will have anywhere between three to five unlocks depending on how lucky you were with pickking your professions to master. So you want to look at the next few phases to see which branches you can unlock by quests and then pick your free unlocks from the other branches you want to get.

I got my visits by shuttling from player city to player city. My toon on Starsider got the visit on Tatooine right as I got off a shuttle, and on Lowca, I got the visit as I got off a shuttle to a Player City on Corellia. Took about 3 days from when I "glowed" till he showed up.
Ironically enough, I see him everywhere now. Actually saw two of them together on Dath recently standing inside the starport ticket area.

hi i got a coupla questions i cant seem to find the answer to. any help would be appreciated.
1. can anyone space mine?
Yes.
2. how do i craft the stuff that is used for space mining unless i can first aquire the resources that are space mined?
A) Buy the stuff from a shipwright
B) Do the quest on Kashyyyk. Sorry but for the life of me I don't remember which quest that is. It starts in the tree I think. This quest will provide you with a pretty weak mining laser (compared to a Mark III) as well as a couple different-size cargo holds, a tractor beam (which you want because those take quite a few asteroid resources to make) and finally the useless-for-mining Y8.
There's a mining guide stickied here I think. If it's not on this forum it'll be in the Pilot forum.

i went though the faqs and either missed it or it wasnt there but i did hear something about manual mining and would like to know how it is done. i mean there has to be a way to get the resources needed for the cargo hold and the mining laser myself right?
btw i respec'd to sw so i am still kinda lost

ok thx for the answers. kinda lame that they made it that way. they could have at least made the low level stuff craftable until you get a chance to mine in space. oh well.
